  • What is the role of benzoyl peroxide in addition polymerisation of alkenes? Explain its mode of action with the help of an example.

Step 1

Benzoyl peroxide acts as initiator in polymerization of alkenes by giving chain reactions. The double bonds of monomer gets add by new free radical and forms a larger free radical whihc adds to another alkene molecule and produces the polymer.
