Schizophrenia causes a person to have delusion, hallucination, disorganized thinking and motor behavior. Schizophrenia is broadly classified into type I and type II.

- Type I schizophrenia is accompanied by hallucination, delusion and formal thought disorder.
- Whereas, type II schizophrenia exhibits symptoms of social withdrawal,poverty of speech and loss of volition.
- Type II schizophrenia is associated with loss of drive and is also known as chronic schizophrenia.
- In type II schizophrenia there is a reduction in range of emotional expression. There have been observed a reduction in intensity of emotional expression including tone of voice and facial expression as well.
- Type II schizophrenia exhibits lessening speech fluency.
- It also causes lessened participation in goal directed behaviour.
- It causes emotional blunting, thought blockages and loss of normal functions.
