T-cell lymphocytes are primarily responsible for the rejection of the grafts. The patient who receives the tissue or organ and the donor who donates it must be tested to evaluate their histocompatibility. In humans, the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) is the human leukocyte antigen (HLA). Histocompatability testing is necessary to prevent or mitigate the rejection of the tissue by the recipient’s immune system...
