The chemical equation for the combustion of butane (C4H10) is to be written.

Combustion of butane is a combustion reaction in which burning produces heat and light.

Explanation of Solution

When combustion of butane takes place in presence of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide are yielded and the reaction is as follows:

C4H10+O2CO2+H2O

Five molecules of water are yielded by one molecule of butane as it consists of ten hydrogen atoms and yields four molecules of carbon dioxide as it has four carbon atoms. So, the chemical reaction is as follows:

C4H10+O24CO2+5H2O

Now, on the right side, oxygen atoms are added. But the sum is odd as it becomes equal to 13
