my opinion, coach Boone had many leadership strengths: He had his goal to make the team a winning team, and to do that he knew he would have to overcome many obstacles, to make the players a real team and a group of players. To do that, he needed the capacity to motivate the team, to push them harder to achieve the goals, to make them expect more from themselves and their teammates.
