I sat still, staring out the fogged-up window and could see nothing except blue and red lights from the immigration trucks lighting the dark night. A life changing experience occurred that late September night when my dad was taken by immigration. Thus, being born and raised as a daughter of immigrant parents has led me to see things from different perspectives and has made me who I am today. I am me because of my parents, Fidel and Amelia Martinez. I am me because I believe I can create a different
most exciting about leading up to this day. Preparation to graduating high school was difficult for me there was a lot of ups and downs, but it got easier once I took things more serious and not as a joke. Having that feeling of knowing that your family members are proud of you is an amazing feeling and having my grandmother explain to me how she felt on my graduation day was heartwarming. The day of graduation I was a nervous wreck, but it was all worth it in the end. Graduating changed my life
across my room. Vague impressions of seraphs sitting beside me on the bed. Smears of color and smudges and brilliant light. A clock tolling out the number of loved ones long gone. The clock tolled again, and they appeared as guests at the inn. Chapter One The Great Escape “But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” ~ Matthew 24:13 It was early September when my friend Sophia drove me to the airport with the AC turned up. The temperature gauge on the dash read eighty-one degrees but

In the wake of being rejected by Harvard Business School, Buffett enlisted at Columbia Business School in the wake of discovering that Benjamin Graham taught there. He earned a Master of Science in financial aspects from Columbia in 1951. Buffett likewise went to the New York Institute of Finance. Buffett worked
It is a beautiful September morning. The sky is blue and cloudless, although it feels like it should rain. Hundreds of people gather in small, tight-knit groups at Ground Zero, holding tightly to the person beside them. Shoulders shake as they stand in the place where their loved ones died; not a word is uttered. Silence. That’s how they choose to remember 2,296 souls (Plumer, 2013). Complete and utter silence. The void that is too often filled, the thing that is too often forgotten. Today’s society
Sandra Cortes Professor Stansbury English 101 7 A.M. 7 September 2015 Is Google Making Us Stupid? In Carr’s article “Is Google Making Us Stupid?”, he claims that Google is making us think differently. This person was a positive father figure to me. He showed me hard work and dedication pays off. Even if he didn’t do everything by the book he showed me how to become independent and don’t depend on any one. My dad taught me do not allow anyone ever to walk over you have a voice at all times, “Closed mouths don’t get fed”. I decided to create my sugar skull for my Dad because he passed this September. He was a big impact in my life, he showed me that education gets you far in life. I say that
War on Terror On September 11, 2001, our country was hit with enormous devastation, just after eight o’clock a.m. the first of the twin towers was struck by a suicide pilot, the second was struck slightly later. The towers fell just after ten o’clock a.m., devastating the entire country, and ruining the lives of many. A plane also hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and another in rural Pennsylvania causing just as much grief. The U.S. is still in mourning, but standing tall, more Americans showed
hearts. I never realized this until it was too late. On September 6, 2017, my life changed forever. I woke up to my six thirty alarm clock and did my normal six thirty in the morning routine: slam the alarm clock so it does not make that loud buzzing noise I hate so much, rub my crusted droopy eyes, and take that short stroll to the bathroom to eliminate some fluids. As I was flushing, I could smell a hint of smoke in the air. Confusion consumed me partly because I knew that my mother was not a smoker
Thareesta Karki Professor…………… Subject……………. 6 September 2017 Watching movies has permanently been part of my life. I find great comfort in a good movie and am never bored when I am watching. My love for watching movies and reading stories enriched my life in so many ways. Through movies and books, I learned so much about the world, about life, and got to escape the real world's trials and misfortunes. It would be impossible to list all the books I've read through the years. But everyone has added
