9/11 Informative Speech

September 11th 2001 there was a surprise attack on the United States by terrorists. The terrorists allegedly hijacked four airplanes. One was meant for the White House, one was meant for the Pentagon and the other two were meant for the twin tower which fell and many lives were lost. However some say it was not terrorists and that it was the United States government and that the government set a bomb and that they had several motives to do this.

FDR's Pearl Harbor, and Bush's 9/11 speech were presented in a time of hurt and devastation and were used to reassure the country of its greatness and power. To reassure what was once a territory that it was still under US rule, and to reassure families of victims that everything was alright. At a time of confusion, both president George Bush and president Franklin Roosevelt spoke in front of the country after as series of tragic events struck the nation. Even though both speeches were presented, one was more beneficial to the nation.

September 11, many Americans fear for their lives, 17 years later, do we actually know what really happened? What secrets are the government is keeping from us American citizens? There's questions that still have not been answered.

Most people from one time to another have had a memorable event within their lifetime. One memorable event that spread across the United States and affected many people is what is known as 9/11. This event affected many innocent lives, those that survived as well as those that did not. September 11th marks in history as a horrifying even that now affects people’s societal, political, and personal decisions. It is marked down as a day no U.S. citizen would forget.

Most Americans remember the hardship from the events that took place on September 11, 2001. It was a very hard time for many families; loved ones were passing or saying their last words over the phone. It was hard on more than just those people though. Through it, all heroes stepped-up and terrorists were overcome. Damage was done, but memorials were built to remember the good, not the bad. September 11, 2001, millions of New Yorkers and American citizens woke up and started their day, unprepared and unaware for the catastrophic attack that would be taking place in just a few short hours. At 8:46 a.m., Eastern Standard Time, Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. The impact killed all of the passengers and crew as well as hundreds inside the building. At 9:03 a.m., a second plane, Flight 175, crashed into the corner of the South Tower killing passenger, crew, and workers who worked on floors seventy-five to eighty-three. Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon at 9:37 a.m. killing approximately 185 individuals (History.com Staff). Because of the damaged to the support system, fires, and impact at extremely fast speed, the South Tower collapsed at 9:59 a.m. (Lipton and Glanz). Having heard about the acts of terrorism that had just taken place in New York and Washington, D.C., a group of passengers drove their plane, Flight 93, into a Pennsylvania field killing everyone on board but possibly saving hundreds of other lives in the process. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 a.m. 102 minutes after being struck (History.com Staff). On September 11, 2001, almost twelve hundred people were wounded or killed by “coordinated suicide attempts” by Al Qaeda terrorists. In result to the four airplanes being hijacked and used for premediated reasons, the United States government instituted new regulations for entering the country and airport security as well as expounded on systems already in place.

On September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists who were members of the Islamic terrorist organization named al-Qaeda, hijacked four commercial airplanes and committed suicide attacks against the United States.
