A Career As A Nursing Assistant

I am a CNA, I am the person who helps your loved ones, children and maybe even yourself with everyday aspects. I am the person who helps your grandmother get ready in the morning or helps your uncle eat his lunch. I am slapped, bit and yelled at more times than not. I change diapers and clean up vomit daily. I wake up early and stay up late to help you when you whenever you need me. With all of this hard and tiring work comes the rewarding parts. I get to play card games like Go Fish and learn new ones from the residents like Bridge. I sit and talk with residents and hear their stories from when they are young. I get to soothe your premature baby and sit with her as she heals and grows until she goes home. I play board games and color with children who are suffering from chronic illness and cancer. I hold your mothers hand as I tell her it’s okay to go and that she is so loved. I am a CNA, and though I may not be for long I put my entire heart and soul into it and love every second. I have long desired for the chance to work in a medical setting and working in an assisted living home has made me realize that the job comes with so much more than the job description entails.

A person in this career should have an energy level that is somewhat high, has a skill that is interpersonal, and a knowledge that is a little scientific (“Career” para. 6). If you happen to be an RN in a nursing home, an RN will watch over the LPN’s and CNA’s, may start fluids for the patient, make plans for treatments, and manage the patients health

The CNA on the unit collects vitals, does blood glucose checks, gives showers, helps patients with toileting, does linen changes, and helps the nurse with anything he or she may need. Lastly, the unit clerk answers all phone calls made to the unit, order supplies, handle discharge

The role of an RN includes a lot of things from basic patient care to advanced care such as administering special medication such as chemotherapy medications, blood and blood products. RN are involved in all patient care from admission to discharge and everything in between. The RN is responsible for the admitting assessment, this is important for patient care because it helps prioritize the patient’s needs. Admission is also the time that the nurse can observe for signs of any other types of problems. As an RN nurses can become certified wound care nurses and offer more wound care than any other member of a care staff. The role of an RN and any nurse is to provide information and education about care that the patient is receiving. RN’s are also able to be charge nurses or case managers in any type of setting.

By working directly with residents in assisted living environments, certified nursing assistants have a deeply rewarding career. It is certain that CNAs will be in demand for many years to come.

Being a certified nurse aide, I know for a fact that being a registered nurse would make for the ideal profession for people who have the passion of taking care of others, being challenging but very rewarding, as well. In this sense, nurses are meant to promote health, provide medical and emotional support to patients, as well as educate them regarding the management and care of various illnesses. When you combine all of these people together you should have a functional working body of team members. With more people now joining the nursing field, more places are requiring that their student nurses have some type of nursing background before even being considered as a student nurse.

The nurse’s work to help prevent diseases o educate the public about health issues, to support sick patients both physically and mentally. While visiting some elderly people they help them by cleaning, bathing and feeding. In past we have lost many lives just because of the negligence in medical care and not providing the proper treatments.
