Taking care of the sick is a major responsibility in this career field. You have to work as a team with other physicians. Another duty that has to be done is to provide care and monitor children 's health conditions. As I would are taking care of these children the nurse has to plan out long-term care needs and administer medicine. The main reason why I knew Pediatric Registered Nursing was for me was through the many years of working with kids, as well as my personal interests and skills. Since I worked with kids, I gained a lot of patience and understanding, I always had a place in my heart for kids. I would like to go into the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner career field. Pediatric Nurse Practitioners help Pediatricians and other Physicians diagnose and take care of children from infancy to young adults. I have grown up with ten siblings and many more cousins, so I have learned how to deal with children of all ages. Also, I have been interested in the medical field since I was a little girl and I have always loved to help people. I would have liked to be a Pediatrician but I would prefere not be in school for another thirteen years, so I found that the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner was the perfect career for me.

Pediatric nursing is an important profession to us today. They devote their knowledge and skills to caring for children from infancy through the late teen years. Pediatric nursing does not just give you the opportunity to work with children, but with their families as well. I was inspired to become a pediatric nurse when I was younger. I remember when my little sister had to go to Kids First Pediatric to get a flu shot, my sister was so terrified of the needle she began to cry and try to move away from the nurse. In order for the nurse to calm my sister down she started making my sister laugh by playing peek-a-boo with her so that my sister could get her mind off of the needle. Once my sister was no longer thinking about the needle the nurse told my sister to count with her and on the count of three the nurse gave my sister the flu shot without my sister even noticing it. I found it so unique how a nurse could be playful with kids when they’re scared. I like working with kids so I know that this particular field is perfect for me.

Children get injured or sick every day, and it doesn’t matter whether the child goes to a doctor or a pediatrician they are still tended to by a pediatric nurse. A pediatric nurse has to have many qualities. They also have to take many different classes. A pediatric nurse’s pay can vary from location to location depending on where they are working. My name is Kristen Simoneaux, and I am a Sophomore here at Lamar University. I am from Nederland Texas, and I graduated from Nederland High School in 2013. I have lived in Nederland all of my life, and I continue to live here. I am going to Lamar University because it is close to home, and it has an excellent nursing program. My major is nursing, and I plan to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in May 2017. I am applying to the nursing program for the Fall of 2015, and I will spend two years in the nursing program. After I graduate, I plan to get my Masters degree and then hopefully my PhD to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I have been dancing for sixteen years at Keely Jardell’s School of Dance in Nederland Texas, and I am currently an assistant teacher there. I have been assisting for two years. I am also on the Lamar University Dance Team and have been on it for two years. This year, I am one of five officers. The Dance Team performs at all of the Lamar home football and basketball games and puts on an annual Spring show. We also do numerous community service hours.

It has always been a dream of mine to pursue a career as a Neonatal Nurse. I chose this career because my love for babies/infants started out at a young age, and as I developed in school, I learned that I have a passion for science and the medical field. Although this career is known to be more rigorous, I believe the rewards outweigh the challenges. Neonatal nurses work with newborn babies that were born with a variety of problems ranging from premature birth, cardiac malformations, not being fully developed, and more. These nurses also work with the families of the babies in comforting and educating the parents as to what to expect and how to properly care for their baby.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?” As a child, we have all been asked this question; and as unrealistic children, we all had dreams of being a superhero, princess, cowboy, or astronaut. Later on in life, as time went by, and as we became more knowledgeable, our answers became more serious. Some of us wanted to be teachers, business owners, or a veterinarian. However, I have always wanted to be a doctor, but not just any doctor. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a pediatrician. Now, half way through my junior year in high school, I have started to question the details of this career, and all the hard work it takes to become a part of the medical field.

The first step to becoming a Pediatric Registered Nurse is to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. This takes about 3 to 4 years. Getting into a nursing program is highly competitive and requires the best grades and GPA. After graduating, you must pass the national licensing exam called the NCLEX-RN to be able to work as a Registered Nurse. After gaining experience from training with children with different diseases or health issues, you can continue education and receive a certification in pediatric nursing. A Pediatric Nurse’s range salary would be between $52,000 to $88,000, depending on where you work and the employer. Nurses have been increasing demand and their employment will be rising for the next decades.

For my career path, I chose to be a Pediatric Nurse. I chose to be a Pediatric Nurse , because on this job , you have to have a positive attitude , you get to stay active, and I enjoy working with kids and infants. Nurses also get an everyday challenge and continue learning throughout their career, which makes it even more attempting and interesting.

Pediatric nurses are expected to be cheerful and friendly, and also be able to properly communicate with both the kids and their parents. Pediatric nurses should possess a high level of patience, and mentally and physically prepared for any circumstances that may happen to them in their work place. I am eager to pursue a career in which is challenging but rewarding, becoming a paediatric nurse would allow me to fulfil this aspiration. Nursing is a career for those who are reliable, empathetic, patient and know how to develop a connection with a patient emotionally as well as their family through difficult times. I have these skills and I truly want to make a difference in a patient's life. In the NHS, the role of a nurse is changing every day, as nurses are getting opportunities to become more involved in the responsibility of patients well-being and health and to become more specialised in different areas such as chemotherapy, surgery, clinical and much more. In studying for a degree in paediatric nursing I am inspired to make most of these opportunities to further my career.
