One of the first things before even pursuing a career as a nurse is having a high school diploma or (GED). Second key steps in becoming a pediatric nurse would be to go to college like; Cal State Long beach and earning a Bachelor degree of Science in Nursing(BSN). Third step and one of the most vital step in become any type of nurse in this field is earning a nursing licenses by passing the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN). It varies differently in every state but in California its required that anyone becoming a nurse must pass this exam in order to retain a nursing licenses. Once you pass your NCLEX-RN any nurse desired to specialized in pediatrics must have at least 1 year of professional nursing experience in pediatrics unit. This can be helpful for nurses to get the feel in the specialization they are entering and be more familiar within this field. Nursing is an emotional draining job specially if you’re going into pediatrics. Someone like me who adores and loves being around children can get caught up with the emotions. There is only so much you can do as a nurse and help them ease their pain and discomfort. This can be a big challenge for me because I’m a people pleaser and love make people smile.
