The purpose of the human services throughout history has remained basically the same, to help those that cannot help themselves. To varying degrees though the interpretation of the above statement has changed and evolved. The act of helping has taken on many shades of gray, questions of; “Are we helping too much or too little?” have gridlocked political parties and law makers. Session held at client's home. DI worked on establishing report. DI and Sofia worked executive function, social and language. During session Sofia need it 7 directive prompt and 1 partial physical prompt. DI and Sofia look at video for potty training. Sofia did a great job following instructions given by DI. Sofia was able to keep small conversations with DI and client's mom. Sofia's mom assisted, participated and facilitated during session.

The government should determine which offenses could be removed or reclassified without putting the public in danger. If this were to happen it would allow for the caseload of public defenders to decreases substantially. It would also ensure that while public safety comes first, unnecessary incarceration would decrease substantially and so would the demand for those who have public service jobs (i.e. police officers, court marshals, etc.). Most of the cases that public defenders are swamped with happen to be misdemeanor cases that involve the war on crime and drugs. Another obvious fix to this problem would be to increase the funding that is going to public defense. Through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (Byrne-JAG), which is a grant program that is designed to provide federal support to state and local criminal justice systems, more financial assistance can be allotted to public defense. Public defenders do a substantial amount of work only to get paid the bare minimum and this is where the issue lies. The last solution requires that the government funds regular training for attorneys and adds social workers in order to increase the effectiveness of public defenders. This would improve the legal training of those representing those charged, especially since many times public defenders are straight out of law school and lack experience. The social workers would work with the public defenders on reintegrating the defenders into society so they do not offend again and end up in the system. In many ways, health is determined by the behavior of the individual (Golinowska p. 367). The purpose of SHARP is to make services available and resources for this group, who are often neglected, or over looked. Addressing their needs with respect to nutrition, physical fitness, social interactions, and mental health is key achieving desired outcomes. For example, home health services offer a variety of services to assist with needs and care within the home. However, their services may be limited in assisting with social inclusion or building social networks.

In my opinion, service work is a beneficial attribute for today's society. Volunteering can range from helping out at a humane society to helping a neighbor mow their lawn. Through volunteering, you can meet new people and try new things. Volunteering helps a numerous amount of people, even if at first it doesn't seem like it. Also, Doing service work can influence others to go out and do some of their own volunteering.
