The play A Doll's House is about a married couple with a troublesome relationship where the husband treats his wife like a kid. The wife Nora, is then in a dilemma where she is trying to keep a secret but is then found out by her husband Torvald. The two exchange their feelings where Nora then realizes she never wanted Torvald and needs to find her true self before she goes on with her life. If Nora choose to stay with Torvald they would have the possibility to start from the beginning and reconstruct their relationship Nora was expressing her feelings and in the moment said what first came to her mind. Torvald points out to Nora that she still has a meaning to her life of being a mother and wife to the family (1390; act 3). He proves to Nora that there is no need to find her true self that it has been in front of her the whole time. During the dispute between Nora and Torvald she is driven to think that she is a burden to him and was only a toy. This makes her want to leave him but Torvald tells Nora that he did not mean to say such words to her for he was in the heat of the moment (1389; act 3). He realizes that he made a mistake being angered by the letter that was sent to him and hopes to fix the problem, "An abyss has opened up between us there is no denying it. But Nora, would it not be possible to fill it up." (1391; act 3). Torvald shows great remorse in how the situation unfolded and wishes for Nora to forgive him. Nora questions herself and what her life really meant and what the past 8 years of marriage to Torvald really was. She realized that she did not want to stay with Torvald because she needed to find herself. Torvald shows her that he is willing to fix the problem and wants to change for her.
