A good location for a restaurant is dependent on a couple of factors like the kind of restaurant it is and the type of clientele to which it appeals and most importantly the convenience of the location for the target audience. Locations generally within a community and on the major highway is mostly a plus factor as the location attracts most of the people in the surrounding vicinity, while as the locations on the super highways are generally are favoured by travellers. (Walker, 2014, p. 85) As per a research, a quick service hamburger restaurant may only need a population of 5000 to support it where as a specific cuisine restaurant might need 200,000. A casual restaurant may need a few thousand customers to support, while as a gourmet restaurant may need a population of 100,000 in the potential market. Also, for an up scale dinner house chain, the marketing manager feels that a population of 250,000 within a radius of 5 miles, however the restaurant is located on a freeway the radius might increase to 10 miles. (Walker, 2014, pp. 85-86) The location criteria for restaurant is based on a couple of obvious factors: 1.
