In the short story A Man Who Had No Eyes by MacKinlay Kantor Mr Parson is a character that really shows the outcome of a positive perspective on life. Mr Parson “had been nothing more than a skilled laborer; now he he was successful, respected, admired...Insurance... And he had done it alone, unaided, struggling beneath handicaps.” Even though Mr parson was also one of the men in C shop the day of the explosion Mr parson never gave up after the accident, he took this as a new opportunity to succeed and begin a new future. He did not continue on from the tragedy to feel self pity or to tell his emotional story for the sympathy in hopes people would help him. Instead he went out and helped and the pay off is way better than how he had it before
