A Pragmatic Approach Of Quality Care In Acute Inpatient Care

INTRODUCTION:
Acute inpatient care is an integral component of mental health systems. This article was conducted as quality improvement activity offering highest quality care to the service user by working in partnership with service user’s ,carer’s and nurses.
Research design
The given article entails a pragmatic approach of quality care in acute mental health setting. This qualitative study was conducted to analysis what makes an excellent mental health nurse?. The purpose of the study highlights those simple things needed for a mental health nurse for this study . For this three main perspectives were considered:
• The service user’s view
• The carer’s view and
• The Mental health nurses view

2009a; Edwards 2000;McIntryre et al. 1989). As noted by Borg & Kristiansen (2004),‘Little things can have a great meaning and impact’ (2004;499). Although mental health nursing is recognized as a specialized field of practice, many nurses employed in psychiatric units do not have specialist training, and many experience frustration at not being able to work therapeutically (Cleary 2004). In these circumstances, it is important to ensure that nurses are suitably socialized to recovery-oriented practice and reinforced to enact person-centered care and to take into consideration adequate staff level and in service education.
