As a Business Management major I have learned to appreciate the essence of a well-rounded curriculum to help fine tune and perfect a blooming business mind. I began college unsure of what path to follow. I walked through the doors of Francis Marion University, my first college, with little expectations and countless queries as to what my first year of college would hold. The first year was more of an eye-opener than a truly enlightening experience. I slowly began to understand that college was much more serious than my previous time spent in high school. The papers were longer, the material was more complex and the professors were more demanding. My time spent at Francis Marion was short, but my writing at the time would set a benchmark for me to judge where I am today. I moved back to Sumter, my hometown, to attend USC Sumter after a semester at Francis Marion. I attribute my time at this university to helping me choose business as my ultimate profession. I took English 102 with Dr. Mary Ellen Bellanca during my first semester. Her class helped ground me with a basic knowledge of fundamental English skills and to have a better grasp on how to research sources and connect them to the thesis and main ideas of my papers. I chose to include a submission from her class to demonstrate my ability to use research to form a very clear and well-written research paper. I also met the most influential teacher of my college career in a Creative Writing class. His name was Dr. Ray
This English class was the best English class I have ever had. There were no tests, vocabulary quizzes, or in class essays, which made the class less stressful. Before this English class, I was afraid that I would not enjoy writing many essays or writing so many words in one paper. Afterwards, essays have become something that is not so much my favorite task in the world, but it has become more enjoyable to an extent. Professor Sullivan’s class has taught me to formally write a research paper, to analyze a book through responding to different quotes from the story or novel, to understand magical realism, and to understand my own passion for school and how much effort I will be willing to put out in years to come.
Throughout this course, I was able to assess and evaluate my weaknesses and strengths in writing. This class has truly brought out my ability to write, a skill I did not believe I had. I now know what it takes to become a college-level writer. Also, at the beginning of the course I did not particularly enjoy writing. Now, however, I have a greater respect for
In “Expectations for College Writing,” the author indicates the importance of thinking and communicating to succeed after college. A writer’s style acknowledges a social or academic expression. A writer’s skill to rationalize ideas and think critically demonstrates an essential technique for enhancing communication in the work environment.
In this paper we will examine the management style of Google Inc. We will also evaluate two key changes in the selected company's management style from the company's inception to the current day. Indicate the organizational impact of these decisions. And we will look
As a University of Tampa freshman, I would have never guessed how much progress I could have made as a writer in class FYW 100, taught by Professor Birnbaum. Coming out of high school from one of the most prestigious, well-known schools in the nation, gave me an ambiguous amount of certainty to receiving an A in her class. Before beginning my journey in college, Jesuit, which was a college preparatory high school, gave mandatory four-year English courses to every student. With that being said, there was no doubt of me coming into freshman year of college with high confidence in my English skills.
Before this class I had a general idea of what it was but rarely placed much emphasis on it. Now I could not see myself ever constructing another paper without it. This sequence of brainstorming/research, drafting, and revision allows writers to take their raw ideas, build upon them, and develop them into scholarly writings. Ever since my enrollment in this course I have taken brainstorming and research much more seriously because I realized it is vital to the success of your paper. It is the origin of your whole paper this means it is imperative that you stay focussed and are thorough in your initial research. Before this course I would just google a very specific topic and get frustrated if it did not yield the results I had hoped for. This course taught me to start off broad and trim down my results while using search engines in order to obtain the most relevant information. The first time I reaped the benefits of this was working on my synthesis paper. I actually included this quote in my final synthesis paper draft "My purpose in life is to create change and give people an opportunity that they lack and to be able to bring that platform". I pulled this quote from research I did for the February 19th Weekly Write. I worked hard in my initial research to gather ideas and it paid off as it led me to this very powerful quote. Two more areas in the writing process I have started to place a heavy emphasis on because of this course are the drafting and revision. Oppose to cramming in a research paper on the last night like I did for my senior exit research paper and not putting forth my best work. I now construct a working draft early on in the process and continue to revise it as I develop my paper into the final product. With this I have been able to develop a much better understanding of my topics and have been able to eliminate many grammatical mistakes that I typically would have
Throughout the first eight week’s courses, Amy demonstrated a high level of competencies in understanding and applying theory into practice. She was also able to utilize the supports provided to her through the college to vastly improve her professional writing skills, limiting her grammatical errors and increasing her well-deserved passing grades.

Upon acceptance to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, I knew not the circumstances to come my way: I did not understand what adversities would appear to me unsuspectingly. Furthermore, I faced these adversities and I had confidence they would inspire growth. Adversity in college also presented itself in this English course by challenging my identity as a writer in the same way that UAB has challenged my identity as a person and student. When enrolling to UAB, I knew how to write a thesis statement and how to use MLA, but this course helped me develop and hone my skills in an honest setting. This course taught me how to make two-prong thesis statements in a conflicting viewpoint paper and focused on
When I began this writing course, I was asked what I hoped to accomplish. I even wrote a reflective essay as a journal entry on the topic. Looking back at the essay and reading it again, I am struck by how much I have learned in such a brief time span. My initial concerns were surrounded in a perceived fear of academia. I was insecure in my ability to convey thoughts in a structured academic format. I still take time to consider these concerns. However, this course boosted my confidence in my ability to learn to write academically, and effectively.

Business is loosely defined as buying and selling. However business is both an economic and social activity which is done to acquire wealth and serve the society through the provision of goods and services which the society needs.
What brought me to have a passion for business was my leadership skill set. As a child I always knew what I wanted my profession to be, I get electrified whenever I learn something new or see businessmen in their suits. I have come to realization, this job has a lot of components and it is an everyday challenge, although I have a great fondness for competition as well as challenges. The philosophy of business management considers the fundamental principles that underlie the formation, operation, and the everyday challenges of a business enterprise.
