There is a touching video that was made in Thailand that will likely change the way a lot of people think about homeless people. The video has a store owner who sees a homeless man outside of his store every day. Instead of kindly asking the homeless man to leave, he kicked the man and screamed at him. The homeless man eventually stops coming to the store. The owner of the store starts to look for him. A neighbor tells the store owner that the man is long gone. The owner of the store did not realize that the way he treated the man was caught on camera. When the owner looks at the camera and sees how badly he treated the homeless man, he starts to cry. The message of the video is very simple. You have to be very careful of how you treat other
Going on the end of the year service trip to Denver really opened my eyes to how many people are affected by homelessness. Homelessness can have many causes and can happen to anyone. In our societal system today once someone has reached poverty and become homeless it is very hard to recover from this cycle of poverty.
What is the tone of this video? What is the purpose? Who is the audience? Did you like the video, or not? Why?
Overall, I believe “Loving” was a fantastic movie. I enjoyed watching it, and it was fascinating throughout. I was very interested to learn the story behind Richard and Mildred Loving and the pivotal struggle they had to face in their lives.
The Hero’s Journey is a theme I was somewhat familiar with prior to viewing the video. Although I haven’t actually read most of them many of my favorite films are from literary works. Many of them were named in the video. I was able to recognize the similar themes in The Wizard of Oz, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones and Harry Potter.
What can I take away from the experience of observing this video that will help me build knowledge and Self-Awareness in Therapeutic Communication?
The central message of the video is that there are things in life that you cannot let go because they are part of you.
this video has impacted me and what I will take away from this video. Also, what will be
This was an interesting video, this is also the first I have ever heard of Julie Butterfly. I enjoyed watching the video and learning about her experience and the environmental cause she stood for. I have an understanding of her compassion and fight for “Luna”. I believe there is a fine line between using resources responsibly for production and improvement of society as a whole and the abuse of those resources. Typically the abuse comes from greed and the need for money or finances. In the documentary video it did not touch on the financial desperation of Pacific Lumber through a number of their years. The company itself ceased to exist in 2008, it takes a few years for a company to go under, and so I believe that several of their decisions
The type of audiences that I will be appealing to are all three, resistant, neutral sympathetic. I will be using the appeal of pathos. As I recall, pathos is an appeal to emotion, and is a way of convincing an audience of an argument by creating an emotional response. The types of visuals I will be using to make this video interesting are videos. My main goals for my commercial are to make people aware of police brutality. Also, how many cases have occur just in the year 2015. Lastly, how police brutality in the U.S. compares to other countries. I want to be able to touch people’s hearts and help them see what is going on in our communities. One thing that I learned from the video, 2010 NCVRW PSA- Be The One, was how to use pathos effectively.
Always, I was told from parents and elders that anyone can achieve their dreams through arduous work and dedication. Surprisingly, I hadn’t pondered this until I observed a shivering homeless person standing at the corner asking for help on one snowy, frosty winter day. This affected my life greatly. On the way, I just started thinking about the life of homeless people and how they are not fortunate enough to get their own place to live, their choice of delicious food to eat and several other amenities that we all enjoy in our everyday lives. An incident, like this, sparked an enthusiastic sense of compassion and empathy in me. Along with my family, I started thinking deeply and my thoughts to help the homeless expanded to other areas and I wanted to start helping the community around me as much as possible.
Tim sees men running into stores stealing things. Tim manages to get to his feet and someone helps him up. The stranger tells Tim that he was nicked by a bullet. Tim looks back at the street and there is a man lying right where he was dead. The man gives Tim his briefcase back. Tim just stands there stunned and people just move around him.
Many people throughout the world look at homeless people negatively, and that is some thing they do not deserve. People automatically assume homeless people are dirty, uneducated, and dangerous, but this is not always true. Many homeless people are war veterans and need help to get their life back on track, but they are too scared and hated to seek it. The stereotypes associated with homeless people make many people shy away from helping them and that is one of the reasons why they are really suffering. I chose homelessness as my topic because it is an issue that should be addressed and examined more carefully. People treat homeless people unfairly because of the stereotypes associated with them and choose to ignore them instead of helping them.
With our own eyes, we see the homeless. With our ears, we hear the homeless pleading for help. This is not an issue that has arisen in the past year or decade; we as individuals already have knowledge of this issue, yet we don’t do anything about it. As global citizens, I believe it is time for us to face the homeless and lend them a helping hand. No matter what gender, age, race or ethnicity, everyone should have a place to call home. We must raise more awareness for the homeless and do our part to make sure that each person has the fundamental human needs that they are entitled
Have you ever wondered why homelessness is such a giant problem in the U.S? Well, you should. Homelessness is such a big problem in the U.S. because of how the people who live here are careless and ignorant towards people living on the streets, and unwilling to give of themselves to help them. If we came together as a country then maybe we can resolve or fix most of this problem by helping the homeless get into shelters and getting them other help that they need. Most people don’t realize how hard it is for the homeless and how easy it could be to end up like them. I think that if we can help out this problem it will make a whole ton of people happy and we can make this country even better than it already is. Through the people
As I stated before, far too often our society ignores that homelessness is a struggle for many people. Additionally, our society often thinks these people choose to be homeless. Terra talked about an incident at a gas station, and how one of the employees at the gas station said all the people at across the street are drunks and addicts. She talked about how upset she gets when people have these misconceptions about people that are struggling with homelessness. Hearing her talk about this broke my heart because our society should not shame people for being homeless; instead, we should be looking at solutions to end homelessness. It is a human right to have basic human needs, yet our society continually provokes their unjust agenda.
