Being a female in today’s society, I personally do not counsel abortion but it should available for women who want it. Abortions can be very unfortunate, but women should have the right to receive one despite others views about it. Actually, studies show that only 52 percent say they know someone who has had an abortion (Traister). There are far bigger issues to worry about than whether if a woman wants to keep her child or not. Essentially, nobody should be telling anybody how to live their life. I do not agree with extremists against abortions because they harshly judge women who get abortions, calling them “killers”, or telling them they will go to hell. Everyone makes mistakes and we are all not perfect. Additionally, there can be many reasons behind why a woman wants an abortion such as the fear of transmitting STD’s, living in an abusive house or dangerous area, birth defects, being raped, or not being

Nowadays, in this world, there are a lot of problems that can make tremendous conflicts for human beings. They are very complicated and bring a lot of argument and nobody knows what the exact answer is. They also have pros and cons. One of the most complex problems is abortion. This is due to moral and ethical values which we all have. The majority of us are Christians or are brought up in that kind of ambiance which means that as small children we were taught values that are based on the bible such as that famous phrase “Thou shall not kill”. This phrase relates to this topic because an abortion is the murder of a human being.

The woman carrying the baby should be granted the right to choose whether she is capable of raising a child, rather than a group of male politicians. The average pregnancy alone causes stretch marks, stress, sickness, a 25-40 pound weight gain, a cost of $30,000 on average, and approximately 10 months, from conception, spent nurturing and trying to care for the unborn child. Other than simply not wanting a child, there are many reasons as to why a woman may want to terminate her pregnancy: pregnancy endangers the woman carrying the child, victim of incest or rape, and the possibility the child may be at risk of having AIDS, drug abuse, or malnutrition. The feminist movement has supported the “prochoice” campaign, believing women own the rights to their own body and should have the power to end or continue a pregnancy. A popular counterargument would be that terminating a pregnancy is “murdering a child.” Sure, it's a potential person, although if that is the only counterargument the use of contraception must also be considered—both abortion and contraception, birth control and condoms alike, are technically destroying a possible life. Although the embryo is growing, the fertilized egg has no nervous system and no consciousness. No conscience is being destroyed before the months of consciousness and nervous system

Each person, man or woman has a right to their own body. A woman has a right to dictate what happens to her own body and the right of self-preservation. Judith Jarvis Thomson stated that “Some [anti-abortionists] won’t even make an exception for a case in which continuation of the pregnancy is likely to shorten the mother’s life; they regard abortion as impermissible even to save the mother’s life” (Thomson, 2013, p. 298). These anti-abortionists renounce abortion even if it threatens the life of the woman, they see more value in the fetus than the woman.

Abortion has been one of the biggest controversies of all time. However many People agree to disagree on whether abortion is a legal or illegal matter. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy through removal of the embryo or fetus. I support abortion for the following reasons. Birth control failure, unable to support or care for a child, to prevent a child with birth defects or medical conditions, and a pregnancy in resulting from rape or incest. A woman should have the right to do what she pleases with her own body. For example, say a woman is pregnant with no desire of keeping the child and there was no clinic to help her remove the fetus. She’s most likely going to obtain matters into her own hands and figure a way to abort the fetus herself. Why put women in that situation when they have highly trained doctors who can remove the fetus using the proper tools with no harm done to the mother?

But we need to treat that as it is: people taking something optional and forcing it upon others. This happens with many cases but we don’t hold the action at fault. Those inhumane people are the big problem. Abortions have a practical use for those who want them. Some women chose to take that route because it is what they think is best. It is a personal choice and, since it is not outlawed, it is an option open to a woman to use. If abortion centers become illegal some women will still get abortions. But they will be forced to get potentially unsafe and unprofessional operations that could seriously take a detrimental effect on their health. Getting an abortion is taking your own risk with the procedure, but getting one isn’t significantly more potentially dangerous as any other similar operation. But also a point to consider is that giving birth also has risks to the mother and baby. Maternal death is a problem that does happen and the mother has to consider. If the mother is informed that her mortality rates would be too low when giving birth, she might decide not to take the risk and get an abortion. Whatever the reason a woman has to get an abortion; her decision is made and she should be able to get the care she needs. Abortion has been a very controversial issue in the United States for the past several decades. Many people think that is it morally wrong. To say that something is morally wrong is an opinion. Since everyone’s opinions are different on this topic there have been many court cases and protests against abortion. However there are a lot of people out there that believe that abortion is a rightful decision. My personal opinion on the abortion controversy is that every woman should have the choice on whether or not they are ready or are capable of raising a baby. It is understandable how people can disagree with abortion. Babies are miracles in themselves and any parent knows that. However, we are only human, and we all have the right to choose how we live. If having a child would only make one?s life worse, then giving birth may not be the answer. Though abortion may seem unfortunate, it may all be for the better. The topic of abortion is critical to the Christian faith because abortion kills a human being that is created by God. Many people believe that a baby in the womb is not a human yet and that it is appropreate to kill the infant because it has not come out of the womb. My beliefs on this topic are every child that is in the womb is a human. In Jeremiah 1:5 it says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Abortion has always been a controversial topic in the United States for decades. Abortion is like taking the life of someone without their permission so it is technically “murder”. There is no such thing as an unwanted child, millions of families in the United States are always willing to adopt. On the other hand, there are circumstances where a woman can barely care and sustain herself so chances are that she will not be able to take care of her child. Or when a rape occurs, having an abortion is not as bad as when a woman has sex without protection and knows she has the chance to get pregnant.

No one is pro abortion or a pro abort; no one actively wants a woman or all women to have an abortion. Although I do suppose we have those nutcases running around who do but keep in mind they are nutcases. Forcing a woman to have an abortion against her will is a cruel despicable act, however it is just as cruel if not more so to force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term as it is to force her to have an abortion. An undesired pregnancy is tough enough to deal with but then to amp it up and take couples or a single woman’s option away is just inhumane. That being said the only possible position a decent human could take is pro-choice. Therefore excluding the barbaric nutty exceptions we all believe the woman carrying the child should have the choice of what she wishes to do with said child. Whether you would like to influence her to think to your liking, you know in the end legally it is her “choice”. But is it really her choice?

So many thoughts cross their mind like how do I even take care of him or her properly, and what if I do not tend to my infant the right way. Because of all these thoughts many women go the short way out and get an abortion. Another reason a great deal of people believe abortion should be legal is because it is the mothers choice. Pro choice is what people protest. A profuse amount of people affirm that a woman can do whatever she wants with her body. Even though she got herself in the situation of becoming pregnant, people state that it is acceptable to abort the baby because she should not have the full responsibility on herself when the father of the child is off doing his own thing. Pro choice people say more options puts a woman on more equal footing with men, instead of being someone of whom they can take advantage of. Abortion is not only a woman's right, it is a woman's choice. Allowing abortion to e legal is immoral. A pre-born child is given the status of a product of pregnancy and never seen as the miracle only a woman can create. Compassion for the small one is drowned out under a demand for rights, but what about the rights for the unborn.
