Introduction Indeed, continuing my academic success scampered past my mind occasionally in the past. Despite the fact, I am a single mother of three children, who in their right mind would have understood that time could be set-aside for further learning purposes. “Shoot! You could have fooled me.” However, the University of Phoenix foundation for success curriculum supplied me with a ton of knowledge for my continued journey throughout my instructional and professional venture. Achieving academic excellence involves activities that require a person to set educational and career goals, practice practical ethical decisions and critical thinking skills. Utilizing the available resources around, and adheres to the writing process will able the student to acknowledge the benefits and challenges of the outside source. Setting Goals Setting goals can be challenging to say the least if a person does not put forth the energy it takes. Goal setting is a vital advancement in a students ' high-quality development. "This program is unique because all students (regular, special education, and at-risk) can and do benefit from learning the process. The six steps to success are easy to remember and simple to teach because they do not require extra paperwork or additional preparation by the teachers. Students remain in control throughout the process, allowing the teacher to observe, assess, and evaluate student progress" (Rader, Laura A, Jan/Feb 2005, 123-125). I chose to attend school
Of the six complete goal attainment scales data sets, four of the children achieved a T score of greater than 50 (range 68–78), indicating above expected achievement in their individual goals, and these results were corroborated by parent and therapist reports. (Schaaf, Benevides, Kelly, & Mailloux-Maggio, 2012, p.
Some of the long term and short term goals and objectives were set for the student with
All the research and work that I did for this project is going to help me with edTPA because it gave me an opportunity to learn about this principle that I will need to know to help children make goals for themselves. In rubric one of edTPA elementary handbook, it talks about how the candidate’s plan for instruction should have clear and consistent connections to the child’s related skills. The candidate should also use learning tasks to lead the students to independently apply the strategy and related skills. My project relates to this because I learned the importance of children setting moderately difficult goals and not goals that are too easy or too hard. To set a moderately difficult goal for a child I would have to know their skills they
As a transfer student at Texas A&M, I demonstrate what determination and hard work stands for through staying self-motivated to attend my dream school. Prior to the start of my education, my family and I moved to this country in hopes of escaping crime and violence, seeking opportunities and freedom. I was able to undertake my own opportunities and enrolled at a community college while also working a full time job in an effort to pursue my dream of attending Mays Business School. Every year, thousands of students apply to Mays; however, Texas A&M only accepts 100 candidates to attend their business school. Because of this transfer process, I have become a motivated, persistent and dynamic individual who strives for success.
Goal instruction is an essential part of successful DPE teaching, and is instrumental in the formulation and evaluation of the prescribed content being administered to students
This program has been developed to meet the educational needs of the students and has an appropriate fit within the school organization and the instruction involves identifying activities that maximize student achievement outcomes. The overall goal of this group is to improve the likelihood that participants will learn skills that will assist them in becoming successful in school
My nontraditional postsecondary academic journey began in 2012 where I made a committed decision to attend St. Petersburg College with a major in Psychology. As the first person in my family to have the privilege to attend college, I found my motivational drive, persistence to achieve, and the inspiration to overcome many obstacles that stood in my way. I excelled in my passion as I continue on my academic path as a single mother of two children who have special needs, and having my own disabilities, as well as being an honor student and leader who remains active in serving others. Upon graduation from St. Petersburg College (SPC), I became a student at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP) while working as a substitute teacher
Something else I learned from completing this assignment was effective goal-setting. When we set goals, they should be:
One of the keys to be successful, establishing goals is the aid of my learning contract/action plan for identifying my goal and the time frame over what I will achieve.
Establishing clear learning goals is the critical first step for reaching all learners. A goal that supports differentiation needs to be clear, but not so specific that there is only one pathway to success. Diverse learners can all work towards the same goals when multiple pathways are available. Similarly, there should be multiple levels of achievement possible to enable varying degrees of performance. Clear goals allow us to offer students varied pathways to learning, including scaffolding for support and challenges to extend learning. Further, it is important that learning goals be distinct and separate from the
Student Success focuses on the intellectual, cultural, physical, social and moral development of students. Student Success encourages students to realize their potential as individuals and as prepared, enlightened, responsible members of an increasingly complex and diverse global society. As a professor in the educational process I believe Student Success is vital to the overall alignment of this institution’s ability to serve as a center for learning, scholarship and creative endeavor. Student success is the exploration, identification, and achievement of personal and academic goals resulting in college readiness, credential, certificate, degree completion, and or employment. Making every effort to help students be successful is the focus
The ultimate result of this paper will reflect my personal goals that I hope to achieve as a University of Phoenix student and which I have been and am trying to pursue and obtain. They are goals that I feel I need to have in life in order to survive, prosper, and succeed to higher full-filling and journeys. In this essay, I hope to convey to the reader how I am optimistically moving to reach these goals, as well as represent to the reader how one can set their mind to determine the goals that he or she needs and/or
A motivation plan for any school is extremely important for the success of any educational program. Students who are not motivated will not learn and in turn won 't succeed. Many components should be included in a motivational plan so that all the needs of students are met and each student has goals that are attainable and can be reached. According to Hersey (2008), "Goals should be set high enough that a person has to stretch to reach them but low enough that they can be attained." Goal setting, rewards, both tangible and non-tangible, and a sense of belonging are motivational
Clear goals allow students to engage more and feel motivated to participate and do better in school.
