1 Timothy 4:7 and 2 Timothy 3:14 both support Addison’s idea in Spectator 465 on strengthening one's faith by using arguments. For example, Addison supported having a good foundation on the word, being able to remember things well, having faith, showing adoration, and having a meditation time. These were just some of Addison’s personal opinions that may have helped those around him. These can be helpful ways to be a better Christian by being some simple tricks to strengthen one’s faith.
The first argument was to have a strong and Godly foundation to faith. For example to know why one believes it and some of the core values. In the text we read this as one of Addison’s rules, but it it’s a good mindset to have when becoming a Christian. Addison states that we need to “… thoroughly convinced of the truth of any article and of the reasonableness of our

This is one the Ten Commandments there is a reason behind it. To keep the Sabbath day is good for a few reasons ones being that it always a Christian to reflect on the week, it allows them to just find peace and rest in God, as well as being able to renew their spirit for the next week ahead. Without this Godly meditation where one just loses himself in God and finds a comfort and peace it would make it a very stressful and hard to maintain a relationship. In life people get so worked up they forget to take a break which can lead to a person breaking. Addison’s advice given for this is “… Frequent retirement from the world…” This is one of the easiest ways to put it. Just sit back and take a break from all the chaos and the wildness happening in earth and for that day just focus on God and get back in touch with what God's got. For even God the Creator had to take a break to reflect on all the things He made and in remembrance. This strengthens a relationship in the most powerful of ways being to fall back in love with
In Matthew 22, someone asks Jesus about the greatest commandment, and Jesus replied loving God with all your soul and mind . Using faith will get a person in a close relationship with God, but reasoning (mind) will enhance that relationship (Pollack, 2013). For example, faith lets us to follow in His footsteps by showing love, patience, kindness, forgiveness, and humbleness to others. The mind will let us understand why we should love, be patient, etc. Collins nailed perfectly on explaining this assertion. For example, in Genesis 1, it says that God created humans out of His own image. The icon God in people means that they have a little bit of His holiness in them. Some people
It is a day of rest (they do not work or have others work for them, emergencies are exceptions) and connection to God. Sabbath is kept from sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday. The Seventh-day Sabbath originates from Creation, when God rested from His work on the seventh day. Keeping the Sabbath is a perpetual sign of the everlasting covenant between God and his people, a symbol of love. God gave each one of us life, and guarding the Sabbath and keeping it holy shows reverence and respect to God, our creator. The Sabbath is a golden opportunity to engage in activities that will help establish and enhance a long-lasting relationship with God, rest and fellowship in nature along with reading the Bible are common activities on the Sabbath as well as other days. On Sabbath, as well as every other day, constant contact with God is kept. Adventists talk to him like a friend, we serve a wonderful God who wants to be our friend, He is a loving, caring God who wants us to feel loved and protected by

Many believe that students should pursue a four-year education or nothing at all, but for some, a two-year education is also suitable. Liz Addison insists that community colleges should be seen as a viable option following high school. Community college acts as a stepping stone for students to get more out of their schooling and work experience. If a student chooses to, enter a two-year college first, they are often better prepared for a four-year college Addison claims. Attending a community college before a liberal arts college allows a student to take, for example, their first college-level English class and psychology class, growing more with every course to prepare them for further education. The community colleges “offer a network of affordable future, of accessible hope, and an option to dream,” Addison asserts. This option gives the students who are unsure of what they want a chance to receive some sort of college education and find what interests them. Furthermore, it gives students who otherwise would not be able to afford a higher education to still attend school post high school.
One strong argument Allen made was about positions that people held in the church or on a certain topic. Allen stated, “Positions should be evaluated on their merits and ultimately according to their comportment with scripture” (5). Many people in the church today hold to a position or certain belief based off of what they have been told or have read from a source other than the bible. As Allen stated, the bible must be the primary source when holding a position
The Case for Faith, was written by Lee Strobel who at the time was an outspoken atheist. Strobel set out on a mission to disprove the Christian faith. Along the way, as he gathered information he was slowly convinced that there was truth to the religion. In result of his findings Strobel published three books to help explain his findings. In this book he discusses objections that arise in the minds of believers. Strobel discusses eight different objection, thoroughly explains them, and provides deep information to help resolve these objections. Some of the issues that he touched on are tilled; Since Evil and Suffering Exist, A Loving God Cannot, A Loving God Would Never Torture People in Hell, and I Still Have Doubts, So I Can't Be a Christian. Within each obligation Strobel includes Bible verses and professional explanations on objection at hand. The most beneficial sections are those where he gives simple analogies that can benefit anybody no matter where one is in the faith journey.
What people expect from us is to be witnesses of living faith that is rooted in prayer and scripture (52). Ruddy’s brings into consideration what Paul VI said in his apostolic exhortation Evangelii Nuntiandi that: “modern man listens to witnesses more than to teachers, and if he does not listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses.”
Philippians 4:13 states, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”(KJV). This verse is what I base my whole life around; sports, academics, and everyday life can be traced back to this quote. Without this promise from God, I would not be as honorable, athletic, or smart as I am today.
For the grade level that Arletha is in I do not think that the requirements for this program should be so high. If Arletha was in middle school or highschool then that would be more appropriate. For example, I remember when I was in highschool there was an AP art class I wanted to take, but you needed to have your art portfolio approved to get into that high level class. This made sence because of the grade level. Students in that grade were old enough to have a well developed art portfolio. This also showed students that this class was strictly for people intersted in art and not just a required class. In Arletha's grade, fifth grade, I don't think students should be put in such a strict class with a hard entry test because it is not age appropriate.
Rolling Meadows graduate Abbey Hill (2012) started her college experience feeling uneasy about being away from her friends and family. She says that her first roommate being a complete “slob”, who “devoured their entire room” didn’t help her feel any better. She says this little speedbump didn’t slow her down in any way, and today she is a senior at University of Illinois expecting to graduate this coming spring.
It is a tradition for some people to go to church on Sunday to worship a certain deity; however, Emily speaks about how the Sabbath is celebrated with her. The Sabbath was known as the seventh day of the creation of the earth and on that day God rested. Emily represents herself as rested when she writes “I keep it staying home” (line 2). Emily tells her readers that the Sabbath should be a day to relax and not a day of hard working. On the other hand, there is another viewpoint on this certain quote that should be
: As a reader Addison does well reading the passages and making few mistakes. Being able to read with little mistakes will only help her as she improves on her reading journey. Most of the time Addison does a good job with her comprehension questions after she finished the stories. Comprehension is a huge part of being able to read. With Addison having that ability to comprehend so well it will take her many place on her reading journey. Addison on a third grade instructional level for the narrative passages and a first grade level for the expository passages. The main item that needs to be focused on with her reading in how to read silently. This can be done by telling / showing her what is meant when she it told to read silently. The older
Chapter 2 basically talks about the Sabbath Day, the Garden of Aden, and the relationship between man and woman, as well as the relationship between human beings and God. The Sabbath day is basically the day of rest and worship. It is the day that God rested after the creation work. It marks the beginning and the foundation of religion. The seventh Day is a very special day in the life of a Christian since it is during this day that we can have time to communicate to the creator, give thanks, and maintain a personal relationship with Him. All that God created became the generations of heavens and earth.
My faith has been influenced by my mom. She introduced me to the Lutheran church when I was extremely young, and we’ve stayed and planned to stay with it since. We went to church if not every Sunday, almost every Sunday and it stayed that way for years. One bible passage that is important to me is Peter 3:10-11, it says, “For whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. They must turn from evil and do good; they must see peace and pursue it.” This quote is important for me because it’s what I like to live by. I want to love life, and I want to have good days. I try not to say things to be mean or bad, I want to say things that are good or helpful. For my faith walk, this gives
Pope John Paul II once said, “Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth – in a word, to know himself – so that, by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to the fullness of truth about themselves.” (Fallible Blogma) Based on this significant and powerful quote, one can infer that faith and reason are directly associated and related. It can also be implied that the combination of faith and reason allows one to seek information and knowledge about truth and God; based on various class discussions and past academic teachings, it is understood that both faith and reason are the instruments that diverse parties
