Inductive Theory: Inductive approach is concerned with the generation of new theory emerging from data. Inductive approach will usually use research question to narrow the scope of study. Induction is known as a conclusion reached through reasoning. An inductive statement is derived using facts and instances which lead to the formation of a general opinion. Though all the facts upon which the conclusion is based are true, there is still a chance of the conclusion reached being false. This type of reasoning goes from specific facts to a general statement. An inductive statement is of two types; a strong inductive statement or a weak inductive statement. It depends on its authenticity. A strong statement has the possibility …show more content…
In other words, truth or falsehood of a deductive argument is dependent upon its premises.
Advantages of Deductive Theory:
The advantages of deductive theory are as follows:
• It is a downward process of thought and leads to useful results.
• It is straight and to the point.
• It is less time consuming.
• It allows more time for practice and application.
Disadvantages of Deductive Theory:
The disadvantages of deductive theory are:
• It does not give any new knowledge because its premises are already tested. It draws theory from general information and then extracts a specific conclusion which proves the past or present truth.
• It is reduced merely to a method for verification.
• It encourages dependence on other resources.
Advantages of Inductive Theory:
Inductive theory provides the following advantages:
• It provides first-hand knowledge and information by actual observation.
• Induction theory is future oriented. It gathers specific information, then draws a general conclusion which predicts what you will find in the future.
• It can increase the creativity of the researcher.
Disadvantages of Inductive
I think one of the best examples of Inductive Reasoning I used was the explanation of how efficient markets spur the growth and expansion of economic growth and how that is tied into globalization. As stated above, “Many Americans do not appreciate how efficient our markets are, in this case efficiency in reference to supply and demand is number one. These efficient markets allow economies to grow. As many have learned in a global world, when one economy grows, it spurs growth in
The first reason why “Theories” are beneficial to use is that “a theory can provide guidance for investigation”. This means that when we are investigating something we can look at a theory and that can direct the direction that the investigation goes. If the investigation doesn’t go the way that the theory predicts it often means that something is false (Gould & Lewis 29).
inductive research approach also called a bottom-up approach, the work proceeds on the basis of
Deductive reasoning entails the argument in which the hypothesis is true and, therefore, the conclusion remains to be true. This argument follows a correct logical form whereby if the hypothesis is true then its conclusion is valid and if the premises are untrue then the conclusion is invalid. Louis Pojman explicates that deductive reasoning preserves the truth, and the arguments are of soundness while;
3) Deductive Reasoning- Reasoning in which ideas are at the beginning and proof follows. Essays, textual commentary, and loose sentences are deductive.

For Kathryn Schulz description in the reading “Evidence” she presents a vivid viewpoint over inductive inclinations or inductive thinking. Inductive thinking may be a method for speculation that structures our feelings as stated by those path we were brought up or those society we are starting with (Schulz).
Deductive arguments claim that their conclusions necessarily follow from their premises. Some commonly used words and phrases in deductive arguments are certainly, absolutely, definitely, conclusively, must be, and it necessarily follows that.
Induction and deduction will be codependent on each other in order to make an argument stronger. Induction lends itself to making conclusions based on several pieces of information gathered, whereas deduction uses syllogisms and enthymemes to make a straightforward conclusion. Writers can use these powerful tools to develop arguments and explanations that would make sense to the reader and proof how failsafe their argument is on
Chapter 7, deductive reasoning. Deductive reasoning is taking a general case that is understood and making it specific. For deductive reasoning to take place you first have to have a general idea about what it is. Once you have a
It was David Hume that brought forth the problem of induction. Due to his profound critique, philosophers have argued the subject of induction for centuries. Considering the fact that our experiences of the world cannot confirm or disprove general or universal claims, but only particular facts. For this reason, empiricism requires a method to change from knowledge of a specific group of objects, to knowledge of global and general connection. Such a procedure is called
Inductive Reasoning — The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).|
Induction process : A process where we observe a specific phenomenon and on this basis we arrive at a general conclusion .
Philosophers create new thesis all the time. Many times these thesis are challenged by other ideas. The Problem of induction was introduced by David Hume in the 18th century. He questioned how past observation could be the same observation in the future. We can assume that past events can occur again, and this was not the problem. The problem is Hume does not believe that past experiences can lead to the future. It is beneficial to completely understand Hume’s stand point therefore I will explain the difference between inductive and deductive reasoning. Inductive reasoning is multiple premises that are believed to be true or at least true most of the time. Deductive reasoning is a theory that claims truth. If the premise is true the conclusion is true. Hume first separated human reasoning in two different ways. The first way is relations of ideas. These are the sciences of geometry, algebra and
