One of the television advertising strategies that leads to the highest product sales is to utilize effective branding and represent products honestly and clearly so that the product is represented clearly in the commercial. An example of this is “Tony the Tiger” for Kellogg’s cereal. Tony the Tiger appears in commercials as an animated character interacting with children in a live-action world. To be able to do this, Kellogg and other cereal companies spend millions of dollars annually in advertising. By having characters like these, viewers are able to immediately identify what brand is being presented. Another example is the Bounty commercial form Procter and Gamble. This commercial compares Bounty and bargain paper towels by showing them being used beside each other. This Bounty commercial shows that Bounty paper towels are 50% stronger and more absorbent than bargain paper towels because the commercial creators know that consumers would choose the brand that is known as the strongest. Bounty is a little higher priced, but the commercial indicates that a person can use the towels longer than the bargain brand towels. These commercials make people aware of the brand and cause the viewers to be more likely to choose it over others. Many commercials do not present their brand name clearly, and this leaves viewers confused as to what the commercial is selling. For
When we see a commercial on our T.V. screens today, we always see in print or hear the narrator telling us that their product or the service they are promoting to us is one of the best of its kind. They use all types of appeals and techniques to reel us in, making whatever they are trying to sell to us either pretty, shiny, worth-buying, or they use bold simple states telling us things such as, “Once you get it, you won’t be able to live without it.” By using these statements and methods of gaining viewers, the ad or commercial gains what it truly aspired for; attention and the need and/or desire to buy the product. In the ad “Bounty Big Spills” the bold statement and exaggerated visuals are created to

The use of television commercials has been one of the most utilized technique to disseminate information about products and services that are branded by particular company or organization (Gass and Seiter 23). When one watches television, he or she is always bombarded by several commercials with many marketing messages which are repeated over and over during television commercial breaks. Most of these television commercials utilize several similar persuasive or rhetoric techniques aimed at luring one either to buy, vote, or to otherwise influence him
Advertising plays a huge role in why people buy what they buy. This paper will discuss the different techniques used by brands in order to appeal to the intended group they are targeting. Some brands try to appeal to the most amount of people possible. However, some brands have a specific niche of people they try to appeal to. McDonalds is an example of a brand that tries to appeal to everyone. It has a general message that everyone can get behind, and they market it correctly. This is why they are one of the biggest brands in existence. However, Gymshark is a brand that tries to appeal to a specific niche of people. Their goal is to be the next Nike. They try to appeal to athletic people, who workout very often. Their products are similar to Nike, but they are specifically
The main purpose of commercials and advertisements is to persuade the viewer to purchase the product that is advertised, but not all commercials are successful in this endeavor. Companies, such as Budweiser and Kleenex, appeal to the viewers’ ethos, logos, and pathos in order to influence them to buy the advertised product(s). In order to appeal to each of the categories, companies use different tactics to catch viewers’ attention. The use of ethos, logos, and pathos can make or break an advertisement based on how it is being used.

As societies advance deeper into technology, so do the corporation and businesses that we as consumers support. The means of advertisement has changed significantly over the decades. For example before the television sets or radios were invented, general advertisement was commuted by word of mouth from shopkeepers, and posters, to the general populous. Television advertising has been a staple for companies since its start in the 1940’s. According to a 2016 study done by Nielsen, the average American adult watches five hours and four minutes of TV per day. Five hours is a large chunk of time to spend watching “the tube”. Companies are aware of this and try to capitalize on this opportunity as much as possible. Additionally, large scale broadcasting events such as the Superbowl and the Oscars are ways for companies to reach more widespread audiences than on a daily basis. These events are key in contributing to some businesses’ yearly revenue.
