Opening my eyes to the complete darkness and loneliness, I swung awake. The last thing I can remember is the dog running out into the road, the brightness of the day light, and the car headed off the road. As my head cleared, I realize I’m hanging upside down. Feet and legs completely binded. Hearing something breathing behind me was very unsettling. From what I could see and feel this was a cold and dank cave. There was the dim light of a fire shining shadows across the open cavern. My wallet, watch, and an old pocket knife I always had on me was feet away on a stone pedestal. Dad always kept his Swiss Army Knife in his pocket no matter where he went.
Reaching up to see if I could try and untie the bindings that held me up. The shuffling

The only lights in this room were small electric lamps which had seemed to have been there for a while because they were only giving off very dim light. The smell of old rancid meat had hit my nose and made me curious as to what was giving it off. After a few more minutes of struggling the rope finally released me into a small fall to the ground. The sound of me hitting the cold floor sent echoes throughout the cave and I think the creature must’ve heard because it let out a bloodcurdling shriek that made the hair on my neck jump off and run away. Judging by this there probably wasn’t a lot of time until it got here so I took one more good look around before trying to find a way out. Collecting all my things I stumbled on an old lighter and torch which would be my light in dark places. I quickly ran down the closest corridor with the lit torch in hand. This place made my skin crawl and the feeling from it gave me made you think death is a better …show more content…
The only way I could go now was forward and if it didn’t lead anywhere nothing could be done and I will have to save myself from this living nightmare. The room ahead had old writing and painting on the wall which told a story. First there was a man laying on a table and there was people surrounding him with their hands raised to the sky. He seemed to be struggling on the table and then words were written next to it but it was a strange language I had never seen before. The next two were very faint and couldn’t be seen. Finally I came upon the picture of the man on the table but he had endured a great change. He was just like the creature that was hunting me as I read the last words on the wall which were in english. Wendigo. Long ago there was this old show that told me about a whole bunch of Native American myths and the Wendigo was one of them, I had heard of this creature once before. Chills flew down my back as the soft touch of someones breath went down my
Then, I heard footsteps getting louder and louder, so quickly hid in the closet. I could hear my heart beating faster and faster as the person kept getting closer. About an hour later, I saw a shadow of a strangely shaped person leaving the room and locking the door. I was relieved and scared at the same time, I didn't know how to get out. So, I first tried to escape out of the black and blue colored window. It was very hard to open,
Several fields have studied the relationship between creator and creation. The most significant aspect of this research considers the difference between nature and nurture. Sociologists, psychologists, scientists, and other professionals have tried to pin down the exact distinctions between these two types of upbringings. In literature, the same questions have been asked and studied using fictional characters, most famously in John Milton’s Paradise Lost, in 1667, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, in 1818. The complexity of the characters in these texts creates the theme of nature versus nurture before they diverge and arrive at differing conclusions.
When I almost reached the door, I felt something at my foot, a broken hourglass, that had ran out of sand. Shaking and suddenly bursting into a cold sweat, I furiously jammed the key in. It felt like an eternity, but finally I succeeded. Pushing the door open, and wiping a faceful of sweat from my face, I felt this wave of aromas crash over me. Putting the key in my pocket(FORESHADOWING) and then entering the cellar I tried to calm down. I tried to look for the cask of Amontillado that I bought several weeks ago. There were millions of wines in that cellar (HYPERBOLE). But at last I found it. It felt, lighter, and after opening it I realised that it was empty. I wasn’t enraged, just tired. I made my way to the door, suddenly feeling drowsy. Then I became a little bit nauseous and shaky. Looking into the darkness, I saw, darkness. So I picked up my dying torch and put it up and almost yelled “Who’s there?”. There was no reply but a figure seemed to appear in the darkness. It was carrying a scythe and it started towards me. I fell back, and was caught by the wall, slamming my head against it and dropping my torch. The figure whispered in the dark, “Free the fortunate one, for be warned fate will find
I was brought out of my painful daze while looking down at my dad pouring vinegar and rubbing a credit card repeatedly over the sting. Not knowing what to expect I looked down to see that my shin had puffed up multiple inches and turned a purple color. I was escorted upstairs to the condominium and had strict instructions to stay on the couch in front of the sliding glass doors. I peered out to see the dark, eerie water filled with many unknowns. No longer was it a sight of beauty, it had turned into an ominous view that was filled with gloomy and painful memories. My eyelids slid shut as I tried to escape my once paradise, and now nightmare.

In Shelley’s Frankenstein, the monster is portrayed as a grotesque abomination. However, as Hopkins states in Contending Forces, the cultural and geographical situations, or lack thereof, in which one matures in play a crucial role in the proper development of one’s mind and brain. The monster is simply a product of circumstance. The lack of social interactions alongside geographical isolation propelled the daemon to be alienated from society, ultimately resulting in a lack of morals and an underdeveloped psyche. By being a culmination of his surroundings and experiences it is revealed that the true monstrous entities are the factors that leave the daemon predisposed to fail in a modern society. Arguably, Victor created a being, while the circumstances that said being was placed in “created” a monster. Shelley purposefully terrorizes the monster with such intensity to provoke and justify the overarching theme in this novel which states that people should not be judged on their physical appearance.
I had just left my father’s funeral. I was wondering where my brother Victor was. He was not at the funeral; could he just have been at home? Why would he miss our father’s funeral. So I got in my carriage and rode home. Victor was not at home. So I went to ask the people in Geneva. One woman told me that victor had left for the Arctic. I asked myself: Why would Victor leave for the Arctic? I realized that I had no family member left, I was all alone. All the money and property was supposed to go to victor because he was the oldest son. But now since he is not here to inherit it, the money was all mine. I being a teenager thought that throwing a party would be fun. But then I thought let me get settled and used to this empty home. I
In her novel Frankenstein, Mary Shelley explores a wide range of themes concerning human nature through the thoughts and actions of two main characters and a host of others. Two themes are at the heart of the story, the most important being creation, but emphasis is also placed on alienation from society. These two themes are relevant even in today’s society as technology brings us ever closer to Frankenstein’s fictional achievement.
I’m running. I can’t scream, my lungs are burning and something is chasing me. I see a light at the end of the dark and gloomy hallway but it keeps getting farther no matter how fast I run. The thing behind me is getting closer, I can smell its rotten breath. All of the sudden I feel the sharp pain of broken glass burying in my feet. I fall onto the glass covered floor and finally a scream escapes my throat.
Once there was a wolf named Midnight who was walking through the forest, searching for a pack. His bright blue eyes glistened in the moon as he howled in pain. He had small memories of his family at night; as he brushed some of his jet black fur out of his eyes, he groaned. His family had been taken from him as a pup, and it had hurt him to see other people with family members because they can’t feel what he had felt.
Thank you June for sharing your comments! I enjoyed learning many things about Frankenstein. I also enjoyed learning many things about evolution. Yes, science is involved with the laws of nature. Science does involve culture. Culture may be able to affect the society overall. Different cultures have a different way of living. Yes, some people may believe that it is good to earn power. Evolution does deal with organisms. Did you learn anything new while conducting your
One night, you are walking on the street, you see a bright light, and you follow this light. Suddenly, you fall into a black and dark forest, which is full of trees and weird houses. Because you are still lying down, the trees look like black shadows with many hands that are going to catch you. All the houses look the same, but nobody is inside those houses. You quickly look around again.
I hastily fled to my newest place of work. I had inhabited the world with a second creation. This demon, though a woman, was more terrifying and hideous than the first. A monstrous creature created only for longing of a new beginning. A world where I would forget this horrible deed I had bestowed upon the universe. I had only promised my first creation a companion, not a family. His companion would never get the chance to conceive, for no more demons will wreak havoc upon mankind. I fled knowing the creature was close looking for what I had promised him.
It began the morning of September 1, we slept soundly through the night as we had always, but this time it was different. I heard ringing from the hallway but I wasn’t sure what it was, I peeked through the doorway, there was a creature standing there about to come in my room I slammed his head in and he suddenly stopped. As I went back to sleep and after five minutes I heard it again, this time the creature
