The American Revolution was an important time in America’s history, creating the beginnings of America as its own independent country. The revolution was started because of conflicts between the 13 colonies and the colonial government, which represented the British crown. After being controlled by the British for so long, the colonists decided that they no longer wanted to be controlled by the british. The colonists started this revolution for their freedom, however, the revolution would grow into so much more, laying out the basis for the United States of America that we know now.

The first official date of this battle was September 19th, when American forces defeated the British at Freeman’s Farm. The British eventually surrendered their remaining forces after being defeated yet again on October 7th. This victory was so important because it was what lead France to join American forces in the war. France would come to help the Americans with not only military but also financial aid. ‘The American Revolution, which had begun as a civil conflict between Britain and its colonies, had become a world war.’(History.com)
As the war was coming to an end, the Americans only got better. On October 19, Cornwallis (the general for the British army at this time) was forced to surrender his army due to the fact that he was surrounded by the American forces. ‘Claiming illness, the British general sent his deputy, Charles O’Hara, to surrender’ (ushistory.org) and the surrender was accepted by Benjamin Franklin. After the surrender, neither side took any action until about two years later. In 1782, the British started removal of their troops officially marking the end of the conflict between them and the US. On September 3, 1783, Great Britain officially saw the US as independant with the Treaty of Paris, and the American Revolution came to a close after 8
