As an Information Technology consultant for Worldwide Advertising, Inc. (referred to as “WAI”), which is a brand new advertising firm, I have been appointed to propose an infrastructure plan for its IT on two locations. My goal is to provide and implement their Windows network infrastructure for over hundreds of employees in the various fields; departments, floors, and levels and also to setup each and every station with different access, permissions, and authorities. As an IT consultant, I have to implement and establish the whole infrastructure in two different locations and also configure their internal IT services. Since they are a new firm/organization, it does not have an IT administration and my job is to provide the IT staff and …show more content…
Moreover, the proposal will address scheduling and command need for the Windows network infrastructure to run efficiently and successfully now and for the next two to three years. In order to fulfill and meet WAI’s requirement and need for the next three years, I will recommend and provide a great tool, which comes and works well with the Windows Server 2012 and that is Hyper-V. It is one of the few tools with the features and services that meet this proposal’s requirements. In order to meet WAI’s requirement, Hyper-V needs to be deployed on all the servers in its entire network. For host processors and memory to work properly, Hyper-V will deliver World Advertising, Inc. with prolonged support. Furthermore, Hyper-V will allow WAI to operate its new servers and continues on benefiting of new hardware equipment and technology for its current and future virtualization. For reliability and security, I am planning on installing Server Core on all the servers in the network. Throughout the entire proposal and plan, there will be a total of ten servers installed in the WAI’s internal network. Moreover, to manage its entire network infrastructure (ground) work, I will mount and install Windows Server 2012 because it will permit WAI to accomplish and manage its entire Windows network infrastructure as a single server in its Boston location and four other servers
Installing and configuring key services on Windows Server 2012 was a breeze thanks to its intuitive GUI. My favorite part of this lab was the feeling of control over the network from a single machine. Instead of switching to a different VM, I was able to simply switch to a different window. Windows Server 2012 made it easy to push changes across the network, allowing me to set up the same network configuration in far less time. Even working with only 7 VMs, I can clearly see why tools like Active Directory are all but necessary in a large enterprise network. Using a centralized controller like Windows Server 2012 would save hundreds of man-hours over time, increasing efficiency and profitability for the company. I look forward to working with Windows Server 2012 further and learning more of its capabilities in the labs to
The company is served by an IT infrastructure comprising of an amalgamation of off the shelf software and components and locally developed applications and middleware. The hardware infrastructure is by and large robust and capable of withstanding any current operational peaks. The infrastructure employs a high level of redundancy and good recovery and password management systems, so there is little risk of high business impact in the case of IT issues. No architecture document exists and minimal change control is executed.
For increased performance and security a Server Core installation will be performed on all the servers. Once the servers are up and running everything can be configured by remoting into the server from your desktop. By doing this you will also be able to administer Active Directory and all other services running on the servers using a GUI making it easier to configure versus only the power shell / command prompt available in a server core environment. For efficiency and to save money only the first server, WAI Serv1, will be deployed manually and will have the Windows Deployment Service (WDS) installed onto it. WDS will allow us to remotely install the remaining servers and operating systems on all the devices by using an image file. Using WDS we can automate the process of installing Windows Server 2012, Windows 8, and even earlier versions of Windows operating systems (Server Roles).
The objectives of this lab were to install essential services such as Active Directory, Dynamic Host Configuration Service, Domain Name Service and Network Time Service on a Windows Server Platform. I used windows server 2016 technical review version 3 and successfully installed all the mentioned services on it. In this lab we used all services on windows as primary and I configured the services on Linux as secondary services.
Windows Server also provides enhanced management control over resources across the enterprise. It is designed to provide better energy efficiency and performance by reducing power consumption and lowering overhead costs. It also helps provide improved branch office capabilities, exciting new remote access experiences and streamlined server management.
Windows Server 2008 R2 builds on the successes and strengths of its Windows Server predecessors while delivering valuable new functionality and powerful improvements to the base operating system. New Web tools, virtualization technologies, security enhancements, and management utilities help save time, reduce costs, and provide a solid foundation for the information technology (IT) infrastructure (Microsoft.com, 2009).
The major goal is to integrate Information Systems/Information Technology with the corporate strategy to use information for better governance and management. This has improved with the connectivity and networking and also the shrinking cost- performance ratios in technology. IT governance thus is a result of the complete merger of computer and communications technologies, like data processing and high advancement in networks, and integrated systems. (Bloomfield; et al, 2000) To this extent the software of the stand alone systems have to be converted to a single functional system for all requirements and the system involves the creation of a network with the following functionality:
For the company DesignIT, I would use a LAN type of network (for local-area network). This networks several computers, a mail (exchange) server, a database server and a file share server in one building and interconnects with each switch or backbone. I chose this for this small space because it is less than 100 square feet and is all within a single dwelling. This way the employees can all share their resources with one another, an intranet, database and printers.
DesignIT is a graphic arts company that is expanding business and has recently purchased a new building 56’*36’ space for the purpose of housing two full time designers and a receptionist. The new building has four cubicles, one office, one server room, one reception desk, and a conference room. DesignIT has already relocated one Web Server (Microsoft IIS Server), one File Server (Microsoft Server 2008), and one more Server 2008 (Small Business Server). As a network design consultant, I have been charged with the task of designing and configuring the network for DesignIT. The small company has informed me that the network should
As we all know virtualization is the requirement of future. We have evolved from the age of traditional environment to virtual environment. We have grown accustomed to almost all things virtual from virtual memory to virtual networks to virtual storage. The most widely leveraged benefit of virtualization technology is server consolidation, enabling one server to take on the workloads of multiple servers. For example, by consolidating a branch office’s print server, fax server, exchange server, and web server on a single windows server, businesses reduce the costs of hardware, maintenance, and staffing.
VMware provides the vSphere application and similarly Microsoft provides Hyper-V application for the purpose of virtualization. Most of the major datacenter in the world use the VMware as their solution for virtualization. VMware dominates the server virtualization market in world due to its innovations, strategic partnerships and rock-solid products [2]. We shall be using VMware products to virtualize the hypothetical organization. The reasons for choosing VMware [3] are:
Coordination is critical at the senior leadership level in order to facilitate continuity of operations plan (COOP) planning. Most facilities that are Information technology centric focuses primarily on IT contingency plan. The IT contingency plan is a function of the COOP and must be orchestrated with great care. In order to create a comprehensive COOP, many departments within the organization must be involved. Finance, managers, network engineers, facilities personnel, system administrators, and security professionals are key stakeholders during COOP development process. Coordination with outside organizations is required in order to
The proposal is to lease the IT equipment using one of the companies in the illustration fig 3. We have spoken to the customer account representatives of the leasing companies. They are all very eager to schedule a consultation meeting with upper management and the IT department heads.
Because of the ramifications of these requirements, Microsoft has developed additional content focused on deploying Active Directory in branch office environments. The Active Directory Branch Office Planning Guide is available on-line at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/planning/activedirectory/branchoffice/default.asp. This content is designed to be used together with the Best Practice Active Directory Design for Managing Windows Networks guide as needed.
Telecommunication industry is growing rapidly and currently United Enterprises representing the major part of Australia and Asian Pacific market. For continues business improvement need better services delivery which based on United Enterprises IT infrastructure. Currently United Enterprises running IT infrastructure that was end of life , and no longer be eligible for maintenance support by the hardware vendors, and it could be the high risk that if a failure happen desktop hardware and associated software application being completely unavailable for that extend period of time and possibly very high emergency additional cost .considered these IT issues recently United Enterprises CEO delivered the new strategy plan .which clearly identified the IT infrastructure issues. In strategy plan 2014-2015 outlines the IT infrastructure issues and aimed to improve the services delivery ,United enterprises will improve the IT operations and enhance the work efficiency through improve the operation in certain areas of Information technology ,under this plan they are interested to upgrade all the desktop hardware
