Lady Gaga, born with the name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is an American songwriter, singer, dancer, philanthropist, fashion designer, and actress. Gaga first came to fame when the hit “ Just Dance” came into mainstream attention in 2009. Since then Gaga has gained countless nominations and awards for her string of hit songs. In 2011 Gaga released her second full-length album “Born This Way” this album was praised more than her previous albums for touching on themes of politics, sexuality, and, religion. “Born This Way” sold over one million copies and debuted on the Billboard 200 and top charts in more than twenty other countries. It also received three Grammy nominations including her third consecutive Album of the Year. As result of the success of her album, Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta created the Born This Way Foundation. It was made to express the same general message of her song “Born This Way” which is to support the diversity of our society. Lady Gaga’s overall theme for her song “Born This Way” is self-acceptance.
It has been said that the song “ Born This Way” has become an anthem for the gay community. This can be clearly seen through Gaga’s lyrics “No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I'm on the right track baby, I was born to survive.” These lyrics not only show Gaga’s support to the LGBTQ community but support for the statement that you are in fact born gay. I think it is very important that Gaga touched on this
In Gaga Feminism: Sex, Gender, and the End of Normal by J. Jack Halberstam, Halberstam discusses an uncertain definition of gaga feminism and place it within modern politics as “feminism”. She uses Lady Gaga as a symbol for a new era of sexual and gender expression because of the way how Gaga plays with sexuality and gender in her music and videos. According to Halberstam, “ Gaga feminism is a politics that brings together meditations on frame and visibility with a lashing critique of the fixity of roles for males and females” (5). It is very different from old feminism because we have different relationships besides the mom-daughter relationship. Although Halberstam presents her argument through embracement to pop culture, personal approaches, and engaging writing styles; however, many of her insights are limited to her own life and might not be applicable to others.
Lady Gaga entered the music scene in early 2008 and made big in 2009 with her album the The Fame Monster. Although many of the fans believe that Lady Gaga has a lot of talent, much of the success of her music career can be attributed to factors other than the music itself. In today's music environment, promotion of the music is a major factor that must be accompanying talent for an artist to be a success. Marketing has become one of the driving forces that can help an artist get there music in front of audiences and help them promote their music on a national level. Even though Gaga was an initial success and most of her shows were sold out, she still went bankrupt because of the expenses associated with the marketing budget.
Her first supporting example is writing to her mom “I was born this way… if there were a straight pill, ... I’d swallow it faster than you can say the word gay,” (Pg. 50) She goes on to clarify that this was a tactic used in order to be accepted for her sexuality. Which, unfortunately, many another member of the LGBT community feel forced to use the “born gay pity” in order to feel even somewhat accepted and ease the concern that their “gay” is the fault of their parents. This is a great tactic using Pathos to not only appeal to her mother but also to the readers. She gets the readers to recognize some of the struggles and negativity from conservatives. Not just the Conservatives in her family but also the ones in Politics. However, it also shows how Fairyington could feel conflicted. Vouching for one thing and then feeling forced to say another, being gay is a choice… unless it's talking about it to people in Politics and or conservative family members. With Conservatives and in this case Fairyington family, the only real acceptance of being gay is by saying it wasn’t a choice but playing on their own idea of it being a biologic affliction.
Ever since Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way”, the amount of Americans who thought sexuality was assumed at birth has steadily climbed. For many people in the LGBTQ community, being gay
There are few people in the world today, with a message of self-expression as powerful as that of Lady Gaga. Now the singer/songwriter is being recognized for her support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth by The Trevor Project. Lady Gaga is this year’s Hero Award recipient.
Glamorously gaudy, this self-made post-modern diva, Lady Gaga was the first true millennial superstar. She seems to be stitched together from elements of Madonna, David Bowie, and Freddie Mercury. Mastering the constant connection of the internet era like no other, Gaga has generated countless mini-sensations through her style, her videos, and her music; cultivating a devoted audience she dubbed her "Little Monsters." However it’s hard to understand the end when you don’t know the beginning, so that’s where we’ll start.
Every day millions of telephone calls are made all over the world. In the 1980’s, a teenager would ask their parents for a telephone in their bedroom. Today, more of the American population has telephones than do not. It is a concept that we take for granted and probably always will. In prisons, you get one telephone call. Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” music video starring herself and Beyonc֢é Knowles takes an extreme take on prison life, sexuality, and the importance of that one telephone call. It debuted in 2010 as one of the most controversial music videos of all time and is compared to movies because of the way it was directed and it’s length [9:32 minutes].
‘No matter gay, straight, or bi, I was born to survive’. In the words of lady GaGa herself it doesn’t matter who you marry, what your gender is or what’s you race you just need to accept others and yourself. Lady GaGa’s song ‘Born this Way’ informs others about self-acceptance in her new album ‘Born this way’. This song is about people abusing others and reflecting badly on them self because of their race, gender and choice in who they marry. Lady GaGa expresses her thoughts about people’s issues to say it doesn’t matter who you are because you were born that way.
Lady Gaga “Born This Way” is a song I used to hate. It supports homosexuality, a term that I would associate with disgust so often in the past. I would, despite saying nothing to stop discrimination against homosexuality, take pity on them at heart. That only changed when I met Huy.
At the age of 19, Gaga was originally signed to Def Jam Records after the labels CEO heard her singing in a hallway of its New York Office. There she recorded and produced one song, with producer Red One titled “Boys, Boys, Boys”. After 3 months she was dropped as an artist from the label. After being dropped, Gaga formed an indie rock band titled The Stefani Germanotta Band. She recorded one album with them, and performed in Underground New Jersey clubs. While performing with the band, she began writing with music producer Rob Fusari. He compared her musical style to Freddie Mercury, and came up with the name “Lady Gaga”, naming her after the song “Radio Gaga.”
I believe the song “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry deserves a close study in ENG 2D0-G because of the allusions that help the listener use their imagination in picturing the character, metaphors that give effective representations and similes that have meaningful comparisons.
4) Gaga’s launch as an artist up to 2009 was a success. Her talent and unique personality opened doors for her. Since it was hard to get new artist music on radio, Gaga began touring in small venues so as to gain popularity. She gained a huge fan base as well through optimizing social media cites and Gaga’s team organized some interviews with about 50 popular music bloggers. As a result the interviews reached
Although Jan Van Eyck was one of the most influential artists during his time period, his work, Lucca Madonna is fairly unknown. Whilst researching Jan Van Eyck the work rarely appeared unless one research specifically the name.
Portraits of the Madonna and Child depicting Mary holding the infant Christ provide a recurrent image in art throughout the ages. In prevalent portrayals over the span of centuries, artists reflect a wide diversity in their representations of the iconic duo. In particular, two works found in the National Gallery of Ireland in the early Italian Renaissance gallery, The Virgin and Child, Saint John the Baptist and Prophets by an unknown artist (1325-1450) and The Virgin and Child by Paolo Uccello (1435-1440), highlight the transition between Byzantine and early Renaissance paintings of the Madonna and Child, particularly in relation to subject matter, composition, material, style and meaning. Although each of these paintings of the Madonna and Child depicts the same Christian iconography of Mary and Jesus, their differences in composition and style influence their meaning, with each painting reflecting the individual artist who painted it and the different time period during which it was created.
From pop star sensation to fashion icon, Lady Gaga has influenced pop culture in many ways. After her 2008 hit single “Just Dance” the singer quickly gained fame for her unique techno pop music. From there on she has acquired a huge following and quickly took over the world of pop music. The singer then used the newly popular twitter website to tweet to her fans. She encouraged them to love themselves, spread positivity to one another, and most importantly funded her Born This Way Foundation in hopes of helping bullied victims. Not only did she use her music and social media account to influence her fans, she also made a broad fashion statement to motivate her fans to be weird, different, and unique. Many people still remember her famous meat dress she walked the red carpet in, while others reminisce on all the outrageous outfits she’s worn over the years. Over the last nine years, this pop star diva continues to top the charts with her music, spreading kindness, and walking the streets wearing memorable outfits.
