I feel that the Black Lives Matter protests are one sided and are racist themselves, the slogan needs changed.I disagree with their reasons and thoughts. All lives matter. The people that participate in this movement are showing no respect to cops and are being racist to white citizens. These people need to realize how racist their slogan is.White people get shot by police all the time but you don’t ever hear about it on the news.cause news stations just wanna get more views. This movement is also destroying cities and buisness. It needs to be stopped. Some of the police are being brutal to people,I agree, but it has nothing to do with race.I’m sure some police officers are racist but that don’t pertain to all of the police
The Black Lives Matter protest was formed after some police departments around the area have killed several innocent black people. However, there are some great arguments against the protest
I refute that the phrase “Black Lives Matters” is saying that ONLY black lives matter. BLM is a movement, not a phrase to devalue another race. It is not taking away from the fact that all lives matter It’s simply stating that black lives matter too or in addition to all other lives. To sum up what the movement is saying or to paraphrase it from my little understanding is that Black people no longer want to be treated unequal as human beings. We want those who commit murder to be held accountable for their actions regardless of their race or the race of the victim. Too many times
Police brutality is an ongoing problem in the United States. Law enforcement agents are there to protect the public for they have the legal right to use physical, and even deadly, force. However, many of these officers abuse of that power. In the past year, there have been more than 900 cases of police abuse. Most of the victims have been innocent, unarmed, and/or of color. Police brutality is becoming more and more of an issue as society keeps growing. This nationwide problem could be solved in many ways, but having peaceful protests and by educating our police officers about racial differences are two good possible solutions.
In this day and age America faces many problems that have become mainstream topics for debates and have momentously affected social acceptance of racial differences. These topics relate to the prompt: Does peaceful resistance to laws negatively or positively impact a free society? This question is considered quite often in these times due to the many different protests occurring in this nation. These protests cause turmoil in politics, religion, and personal opinions. These problems are beneficial because they help people think outside the box and assist the people of our nation to maintain democracy and freedom of speech.
Following the events of the tragic deaths of Michael Brown and several others, the Black Lives Matter movement has begun. I support this movement whole-heartedly without a doubt. Death is never an easy thing to copy with, whether it’s from a criminal or an innocent bystander.
This is the movement’s largest fault. Besides only protesting white on black violence, the BLM group does not listen to court rulings or police investigations before rioting over the death of an African American criminal. As a result, the riots counteract the BLM movement’s reasoning. They claim to be fighting for people’s rights, for human rights, but the rioting is more harmful than helpful. Rioting means closed streets which do not allow fire trucks and ambulances to respond to emergencies. Rioting means ransacked stores which negatively impacts the city’s economy. Rioting means police officers in riot gear to control the crowd’s aggressiveness and less police officers doing their actual assigned jobs. Rioting means worried wives, husbands, and children who do not know if their loved one will be hospitalized by the people he was sworn to protect. Rioting means twenty-four hour shifts for all emergency response staff, waiting to be called out to the streets. According to the BLM movement, all of these effects are meaningless compared to the death of a criminal. This reasoning appalls police officers like Detective Smith who frustratingly stated, “If you do not want our protection, then fine. Bite the hand that feeds you and tear yourselves apart.” So much more than just the police forces are affected by the Black Lives Matter movement. When
Why is it that black people are the chosen Americans to get their pride and power taken from them out of all the other races in the world? Since October 15, 1966, when the Black Panther Party started, “the Panthers practiced militant self-defense of minority communities against the U.S. government, and fought to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based programs” (Baggins). The Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement was founded in 2012 after the death of Trayvon Martin who was murdered in front of a local corner store by George Zimmerman. Acts like this are still being performed now and the government has not put in hard work to change it. The BLM Movement goes a little deeper than the anger of black people feeling
movement in this nation because. It shows how black people are battling for Justice with marching and protesting. Another reason for this movement is that black people are getting shot down by police in their own communities and neighborhoods.
The Black Lives Matter movement was not created to disrupt society or indicate that African Americans are anti-white. It is about much more than police brutality or the death of individual black men and women. It is about where Black Americans stand and what it means to be black in today’s society. This organization was created to bring about change. The purpose is not to segregate but to unite. Those who oppose the movement are convinced that this is an attack on America and its Caucasian population. This is understandable based on the history of the country. Some critics of the movement blame Black Lives Matter for worsening race relations in recent years. This can be expected because the tension between
The Black Lives Movement is so controversial because it is backed up by some many people. For the blacks that don’t support have found truths that swayed them away from that specific movement but the cause for this fight is all for the same reason. Blacks, and other ethnicities that have the clear vision to see the issues with the mistreatment understand. Police Brutality is everywhere and it effects all lives. This is why so many Americans are against Police
According to the graph by the Washington Post, white people are more likely to be shot and killed by the police. Out of 990 people shot and killed by the police, white Americans accounted for 494 people, which is only one person short from accounting to half of the people shot. Where is the "White lives matter" movement?
Lately there’s been plenty of police killings in the black community. When police kill an African American their looking at it as justifiable, because of the behavior of some African American people. One of the killings that started the movement. Travon Martin, 17, of Miami Garden, Florida fatally shot by George Zimmerman due to an
From the beginning of the Black Lives Matter Movement, the news outlets have played a huge role in how it is perceived by everyday Americans. Many Americans heavily rely on the news outlets to present them with a clear and accurate picture of a wide range of issues, especially the Black Lives Matter Movement. But what happens when the news outlets misrepresents the movement and what it stands for? Some interpretations of the movement argue that differential treatment of African Americans by the police cannot be ignored any longer, thus placing emphasis on police brutality and the injustice of the judicial system as a whole. Others argue that the valuing of black lives should start with the black community through the acknowledgement of “black
What black lives matter encourages use with the use of images, is to not turn a blind eye to the injustice that happens to minority groups. In the article How social media jumpstarted the Black Lives Matter movement Connor lays out a key moment in the BLM movement that were all due to the spread of images via the internet “Rice was detained while videotaping the arrest of Tyrone Harris Jr., a young African American man who had just been shot by police and who was then lying on the ground, handcuffed. Rice's uploaded video was retweeted thousands of time. For some Twitter users, it served as an immediate reminder of the images they had seen exactly one year earlier, when 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer,
Is the Black Lives Matter movement good reason? To anwser, this stand torwards race discrimination is justified. This is because the things they go through compared to people who are not ethnic, are much more diffucult. From Brent Staples non-fiction essay, he explains the diffuculties of being a person of color. Even with “a discreet, uniflamatory distance” between him and the citizen, the stranger still fled in fear. That shows the unnessesary emotions directed at black people. During Clint Smiths TED Talk, he addresses as a little boy he couldnt even play outside with his friends without his father fearing the worst. This movement will prove that are precieving this race wrong. It doesnt make logical sense to let societies, citites, America’s,
