Hey Sonia, I do agree with your point of view of being self-disclosed with your husband. He is someone with whom you should be transparent, but I do believe that it always depend on who the other person is. For instance, if the other person is someone you just met and he or she starts being self-disclosed, you should evaluate the situation before being reciprocal. As I stated, it is important to analyze to whom you will
In chapter one of The Help, Aibileen does not quit her job because she loves Mae Mobley and cannot leave her. For example, many times when Treelore, her son, is mentioned, Mae Mobley is usually mentioned close to that time. This shows that Mae Mobley reminds Aibileen of Treelore because she thinks of Mae Mobley as her new Treelore. Also, Treelore died as he was working. This is why she does not quit because Mae Mobley fills the gap that formed when Treelore died in Aibileen's life.
Mr. Collins incorrectly uses logical and emotional appeals when asking for Elizabeth’s hand in marriage, which will probably not lead to his desired result. Mr. Collins is very direct and business-like with his proposal, starting his appeal with the words “my reasons for marrying are”. He then lists out facts about why he needs to marry her, even citing his benefactor. His word choice creates a very professional and objective tone, which may be effective in a business setting, but is not right for a romantic marriage proposal. He never mentions that he likes Elizabeth, only expressing that it’s a practical marriage. When Mr. Collins attempts an emotional appeal, he is not very successful. Mr. Collins tells Elizabeth
A part in Chapter 4 that really stood out to me was when Richard gets embarrassed from Granny's misunderstanding. Granny and many other people want Richard to believe in God and be saved from the suffering in life. To pacify Granny's fear for Richard's soul, Richard says, "You see, Granny, if I ever saw an angel like Jacob did, then I'd believe. " Granny immediately gets happy and astonished, and Richard believes that his plan worked. However, Richard later finds out that Granny misunderstood him and told all the church members that Richard saw the angel.
Analysis 1 is a well-supported analysis of the technical and aesthetic aspects of Solnit’s paragraph, which determines it to be ‘well-written’. Discussing which of the ten explaining/exploring methods are used could improve analysis. Also, consider in-text references for direct quotes.
The Constitution of the United States was written to allow the government certain powers often referred to as enumerated powers. During the Constitutional Convention, resolutions were drafted concerning these various powers. They were put into place to ensure that the Constitution was specific in what powers the government would be able to authorize. The writers of the Constitution drafted the Necessary and Proper Clause for a similar reason: to establish the model that Congress can make laws that will carry out the authority assigned to the central government by the Constitution (Levy, 2016). During the formation of the U.S. Constitution, this clause became very important as the government had to be organized and established, and this clause
Starting this year, I thought English 102 was just going to be another general education requirement I needed to have in order to graduate. English has never been my favorite subject, so I guess it is safe to say that I was not super excited about this class. However, this class turned out to be different then I thought. It turned out to be more useful then I originally thought. English 102 was both helpful and fairly simple because of what what I learned, the effort I put in and how prepared I was.
I have a “no secrets” policy. Since you are here for couple’s counseling I feel you need to be open and honest with each other. If one of you shares a “secret” with me individually that I might feel necessary to share, I will decide if it needs to be shared with your spouse.
In high school, my English teacher gave me one very important piece of advice about effort: “When you invest your time, you make a goal and a decision of something that you want to accomplish.” Ever since I was given this advice, I began to put forth a much more substantial amount of effort into the goals I want to achieve. In this case, my goal is to receive an A on the rhetorical analysis presentation. In my group, I took on many leadership roles, I invested a lot of time and effort and overall, I was an active and supportive team member. For these reasons, I believe that I deserve the A that I worked towards.
Also with keeping a happy marriage managing how and when would be the appropriate time and to what level of self-disclosure. We all have secrets in our closets after your married you should feel more comfortable with self-disclosure. Although Orbach who
1. Ericsson’s essay thesis is stating that basically everyone tells lies to some extent there just different ways to lie as she stated we all lie to spare conflict which is okay as long as we feel we can justify the lie. 2. Ericsson feels it is impossible to live our lives without telling some type of lie She stated even though we try to live a life free of lying it is impossible because somewhere along the way we will find it necessary to bend the truth to make life move smoother. 3.
There are also risks of self disclosure it can potentially hurt others although be what you're telling them may cause you to feel better but the other person may have hurt feelings about what you said, for example if someone says they are ugly and you agree with them they will probably be upset about it even if your telling the truth. One of the biggest risks of self disclosure is rejection, a lot of people don't share personal information with others because they are afraid of reception it’s difficult to open up to someone and tell them your secrets and then they turn their back on you and run with it, that is a big risk of self disclosure. When using self disclosure to reveal personal information is it can cause a decrease in relational satisfaction, self disclosure affects others opinions of you, not only that but it can lead to a loss of influence in the
Duke Ellington composed thousands of pieces throughout his career. Ellington's music made him stand out and allowed his listeners to have many experiences they had never had before. One of his most popular songs was “It Don’t Mean a Thing, if It Ain’t Got That Swing”. Duke Ellington’s song, “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” was written in the summer of 1931. The piece was released on February 2, 1932, on the Brunswick Record label. Ellington hired vocalist, Ivie Anderson, to sing the piece and appear on the Ellington record. A number of Ellington’s hits were sung by Ivie Anderson, but “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” broadened both of the artist's’ fame. This piece proved many of Ellington’s hidden talents. For instance, “this song lifted Ellington out of the category of simply ‘bandleader’ to composer” (). “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” is one of Duke Ellington’s best-known pieces.
The original quote, titled as “I was born to make mistakes not to fake perfection,” from Drake, demonstrates that everyone makes mistakes. The singer goes on to explain we weren’t born to be perfect. While some might view these lyrics as advice to stop trying to be perfect. The quote suggest that the writer is held to standard of perfection when in reality he isn’t perfect. I found the original text interesting because a lot of celebrities portray to the media they have perfect lifestyles. Whereas, Drake acknowledged he's only human and makes mistakes too, even though he is a celebrity. Another thing that was fascinating about the original quote was he acknowledged that people weren’t born to fake perfection. I choose to remix and change the original version to display more irony.
I believe that education is the key in developing today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders. Education is the basis on which individuals develop their self-concept and the desire to become more knowledgeable. I want to become an educator because I am interested in helping elementary students become active learners and also to assist with their social skills. I believe I can make a difference to many students as they start their educational foundation. I feel that all teachers should possess the desire to devote their hard work and efforts to their students’ educational success. I view teaching as not only one of the most respected careers, but also as one in which the rewards are great and many
Self-disclosure is the voluntary sharing of personal history, preferences, attitudes, feelings, values, secrets, etc. with another person (Griffin, p. 97). As stated in the introduction Altman and Taylor look at relationships as an “onions.” The different layers are representative of different feelings of a person. When
