For the purposes of our assignment I will attempt to put Richard Branson in a sort of box that he would surely object to and would certainly pop out of like a jack-in-the- box. The difficulty with attempting to analyze the leadership style of Branson is that everything that has been written about him prefaces his achievement with his larger than life personality. There's no denying that Branson is fun and passionate, but he's also very bright and very hardworking. I think that if Branson took the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Profile he would discover that he is ENTP: an extroverted, intuitive, thinking, perceiving human being. From his autobiography, Losing My Virginity it's clear that Branson is action oriented, enthusiastic and …show more content…
and someone's passing on an idea in a drunken slur. Good ideas come from people everywhere, not [only] in the boardroom." One might also argue that his extroversion is also well documented from his hot air balloon rides to the very name he selected to represent his brand. A brand name like "Virgin" demands recognition just for the name itself and I'm sure in 1970's England it drew the attention. Virgin seems to have a knack for doing things in a sort of "fun" way no matter what the product. When you think of Virgin Mobile, you think about how easy they made it for anyone (everyone) to have cell service. Similarly, Virgin Atlantic seems to make travel for anyone easier and a possibility by offering lower fares to many destinations. You imagine a younger hip executive flying Virgin Atlantic, while a stodgier older executive would fly British Airways. Even ventures that failed, such as Virgin Vodka, still conjure up the idea of fun. It's become "a way of life brand". In Good to Great, Collins discusses how Philip Morris found success when it diversified away from tobaccos by staying close to "sinful" products such as coffee, chocolates and beer. In a similar way, Virgin has branded its easy, fun, energetic way about doing things. We even joked in class that a Virgin bank might be the fun bank to transact business. Branson is not only passionate about the business' that he at the helm of, but he also finds time

Clemson University is a well-known university, located in South Carolina. It is ranked in the top twenty five public universities. Richard is not afraid to take risks and believes that his people are the foundation to his company’s success. `My philosophy is, put your employees first, your customers second and your investors third and in the end everyone will be happy’ (Inc, 2013). From researching his leadership style I would say that Richard is a transformational democratic leader, he likes to get other peoples input and develop on their ideas. Richard believes that praise goes much further than criticism in achieving results so he likes to lead his team using positive reinforcement. Richard seems to be a very caring and involved leader who listens to everyone and is very professional in his leadership style, he is definitively a relationship-oriented leader who is good at aligning people and giving them emotional support and encouragement. He seems to fall into the segment of being a participative and consultative leader whilst his strong charisma seems to make anyone listen and follow him.

My report is on Richard I, byname Richard the Lion-Hearted. He was born September 8, 1157 in Oxford, England. He died on April 6, 1199 in Chalus, England. His knightly manner and his prowess in the Third Crusade(1189-92) made him a popular king in his own time, as well as the hero of countless romantic legends. He has been viewed less kindly by more recent historians and scholars.
U.S. armed forces have been supported by many people, some have even tried to improve it. Those “some” people included Carl Vinson, and Richard B. Russell. Both have come from Georgia and have been raised by their parents. Then, they both knew that the US army could be better, so they tried different strategies. They both wanted to improve the U.S. armed forces, but with what branch?
Based on the reading it is hard to give a single leadership style or even a combination of leadership styles because there are so many different levels of productions and management for this project. Each level of management will have their own required type of leadership and while some styles may overlap,
He challenges the employees and encourages them and creates a dynamic environment which motivates them to always work hard. 1. Richard Branson's leadership style works for his particular role as visionary and figurehead of his diverse group of companies under the Virgin Group umbrella. However diversified the Virgin Group may be, Branson remains an essentially charismatic and transformative leader. His leadership philosophy is built on employee empowerment and stimulating employee satisfaction. In his own words, Branson states, ""Rather than focusing on mistakes, catch someone doing something right every day," (cited by Adonis, 2010). Likewise, Branson advises that managers "place greater emphasis on unearthing what their employees are thinking and feeling," (cited by Adonis, 2010).
Elon Musk is one of the most intelligent people alive as well as one of the richest with a net worth of around 20 billion dollars. Musk is part of many large companies such as Neuralink, The Boring Company, Tesla Motors, PayPal, SpaceX, and more. Although Musk seems to have a wonderful life, he faced many struggles on his way to becoming a popular and wealthy entrepreneur. When Elon was a kid, he was once thrown down the stairs and beaten up until he blacked out by schoolmates, but this did not stop him because as a 12 year old student, Musk created a computer game called Blastar which he sold to a computer magazine (Vance). He later founded his first company with his brother called Zip2. Zip2 was funded by Musk’s dad and Elon was so dedicated to making it big that he lived in his office and showered at the local YMCA (Weinberger). Musk then founded X.com which was an online banking website off of the loads of money he received from selling parts of Zip2. X.com later merged with another company to create PayPal, giving Musk tons of money for investing for future companies and ideas. Musk continued to invest on companies which resulted in him gaining more money and increasing his influence he had on the world. He is not going to stop what he is trying to do until he
Sir Richard Branson's model is a personification model of Virginia brand and explains it using his life when he was young. He uses both his life and Virginia brand to elaborate his leadership skills which is not based on any professional skills. Over the years, he is seen to recruit the best managers. Leadership is one of the strategies and strategic management. It includes planning for informal, formal and strategic planning systems by the leader. It has planning for emergent strategies, which include; responsiveness to arising threats and opportunities, increasing of changes to predetermined intended strategies, and adaptive learning and responsiveness to intended strategies. The Branson's model includes visionary leadership, which is planning, for the future. Competitiveness and competitive advantage for business services and products are dependent on strategic plans.
1 I would definitely describe Greg Mortenson as an “Authentic Leader”. In our text authentic leadership is described as a type of leadership that can be nurtured, and develops over a lifetime, can be triggered by major life events, and that a leader’s behavior is grounded in strong ethics. The definition continues on to say that there are four authentic leadership components: Self-awareness, Internalized moral perspective, meaning knows the right thing to do and is driven by ethics and fairness, balanced processing, meaning they are fair minded and open to others, and they possess relational transparency, meaning they are honest and
