Introduction This bioethics research paper will be talking about animal rights. Animal rights is the rights for animals to be free of medical research, hunting, clothing, food, and entertainment. It is the belief that all animals are entitled to the possession of their own lives and should not have to suffer from humans. (Liou, 2010) The belief is opposite of those who believe in speciesism. Speciesism is the idea that humans and their rights are above animals. The people who are against animal rights are known as speciesist. (Bennett-Jones, 2015) The people who are for animal rights are known as animal rights advocates or activists. (Lin, 2014) The topic of animal rights is very controversial. While some people believe that animals should be able to live a free of pain and suffering life, others say that even though it is wrong, animals help us with important research that is needed for humans. For some people, even though they are against animal rights, they agree that the animals deserve the best they can get for those getting tested on. (Liou, 2010) Discussion
Supporters of animal rights are certain that animals feel the same emotions as humans and therefore should not be tested on or killed for food or clothing. (Peta2, 2016) They believe that animals should have equal consideration because they also suffer from fear, pain, pleasure, frustration, loneliness and motherly love.
