Examines a candidate medical coding, medical terminology, anatomy and skills in a rigorous testing environment, asking the candidate to answer 150 multiple-choice questions related to the subject areas mentioned in less than 6 hours. 6 hours is a long time to be sitting, answering exam questions, even if they are multiple-choice questions. Now please do not get the wrong idea that most people do when they hear the term "multiple choice" believing it to be A) very easy or B) have a 50/50 mix of probabilities to guess the right answer! You get 2.4 minutes per question to determine the answer and although it sounds like a time now - believe me, the CPC exam sat looking at that question - not long enough. The exam covers many different areas and as such has many books and study guides available in the market. The problem with many guides is that they have in a specific area and just soaking in all other areas - leaving very poorly prepared for the full range of exam topics will be explored.
