Apa Learning Goals

The purpose of this paper is to provide you with written instructions on some of the basic guidelines with the new APA format (American Psychological Association, 2009). In addition, this paper is written in APA format to provide you with a visual image of how many aspects of papers should be written, from the title page, to headings, to references in text, and the reference page. This paper is not met to be a comprehensive explanation of APA format, but will provide the reader with the basics. So, please buy the manual and read it.

What search terms did you use to locate this research study to analyze? What database did you use? What was your rationale for selecting this particular study to analyze over the others identified in the search results? What is the full reference for the study in APA format?

Almost every KGSM written assignment specifies that the paper conform to APA style. But no one really knows what this means. At the very least, the requirement could be that references be cited as described in the APA manual. But APA style involves a lot more. In this document, I will explain and/or provide examples of what I, personally, consider to be important in my classes. Some professors may require more or less. My best advice for what to do in other classes is to ask the professor.

Since abortions legalization in 1973, it has become a topic ensnared by controversies as groups debate abortions moral and ethical consequences. Child behavior analysis are great spectators, caring, and have a magnificently composed and relational ability; which is the reason, I believe it’s imperative to study this program within a school that underlines cultural awareness, competence, and understanding of diversity. Furthermore, cultural awareness is the establishment of correspondence, and it includes the capacity for being mindful of our communal qualities, convictions, and observations; competence is being equipped or fit for performing an allocated capacity; and comprehension of assorted qualities (diversity) infers understanding that every individual is one of a kind, and perceiving our individual contracts. Besides, what these three words mean, I can conclude that communal mindfulness (cultural awareness), ability/ or skill (competence), and comprehensions of qualities (diversity) are crucial in psychology. Why? A school that is socially mindful is opting to provide students splendid courses with universal and social essentialness. A multicultural fitness instills school therapists with the basic abilities important to set up an affinity with students, their families of a bunch of ethnic and social backgrounds, and go up against expert predispositions and assumptions that may conceivably bring a misdiagnosis. Therefore, cultural awareness, competence, and understanding of diversity are a must for me to study this discipline at school because it helps behavior analysts' endeavor to individuals to carry out individual objectives, decrease enduring, and enhance/ or improve their own fulfillment. In addition, it is a deliberate, information-based way to deal with examining, understanding, and changing human behavior.

Unfortunately, the students essay was not as clear as it could have been; if the student had followed the required APA guidelines it would have been more effective. There were multiple formatting errors that showed evidence in pasting paragraphs including the use of several different size fonts in the essay. I realize we are all new students to this class and here to learn. However I also fill like by giving constructive feedback to each other it will help us to grow in the long run

During these assignments I have learned many things about my assignment on the tobacco industry. I have learned different writing techniques, different forms of APA formatting, and how to find and properly use different sources. Through class exercises and past failures I was able to learn those skills. Although I have learned variety of things my skills when it comes for writing still needs improvement. Skills such as proper grammar and APA format still need some adjustment. Even though I have plenty things that still need to improve on I was still able to improve some areas of my writing skills.

As a psychology major, it is important to know how to work with diverse populations, especially in today’s society. It seems that there are more cultural groups today, compared to the past because of groups such as LGBTQ and an increase in immigration to America from more countries than just Europe and Africa. In America, we expect people to know how to speak English and have a basic understanding of the American culture, but for the most part, Americans lack a willingness to understand other people’s cultures. While some do not want to take the time to understand different cultures, those individuals who work with diverse populations have to understand different cultures in order to truly help those from diverse situations. Cynthia Belar, the current interim chief executive officer. Dr. Belar revealed her story of how she became a part of the APA, after working in several different setting related to clinical psychology and mental health problems. While her career was truly a spectacular one, she gave the intern a valuable advice. She stated that even when she was young, she was not completely certain about which path to take, or what she would do in the future. Nevertheless, she found herself along the way and was able to contribute to the best of her ability to psychology. Thus, she believes that is it perfectly acceptable for students to be confused and uncertain of their futures; through their experience, they will figure out their strength and weaknesses, as well as their choice of career. Indeed, sometime college or even graduate students can be nervous and afraid when they experience uncertainty towards their future. Life should be viewed as a journey, where one will learn about themselves and others, to decide what they want to do, or who they want to be. On the other hand, Dr. Belar encourage the students to propose ideas and observations about psychology and the APA. A notable suggestion revolved around how psychology can be more accessible to the population. The author pointed out the fact that psychology can be apply to any issues and problem presented that is related to human, and integrated to other disciplines.
