A thesis statement is that of great importance for both the reader and writer of the essay. The thesis statement can set up the feeling of the essay and give the reader something to debate on. You want to have a contentious claim as your thesis statement. I don't want to have something too general, or something that everyone else agrees upon. That would just make the essay boring and bland. I want to make sure I am able to reel in the readers with my first few sentences. This allows me to state my evidence of my side. The thesis statement also helps the writer of the essay by helping them establish what to write later in the essay. It can help them establish their facts and where to put them later in the following paragraphs below.
