Architecture
‘Architecture’ is a word of common knowledge, as I think it should and is at least for the people around me that i know. For me the word is always associated with architect, because an architect is the one who makes architecture real. Architecture as people understand it nowadays probably came to life with the species homo sapiens because they are self conscious, before it was just a very primitive thing. You could say DNA is an architect because it builds, in fact it is probably the best and wisest architect humans know of, therefore we are also architecture because anything that is built and is physical can be architecture by definition even Wikipedia states that. This is is all very philosophical.
All form of art are connected with philosophy and so is architecture. Architecture is considered art, plus everything that involves with it like the process of designing.
Architecture was the first art form on this planet, everything existing is in reality architecture, noone never said architecture had to be created by a conscious being. If universe just came into existence, therefore nothingness itself is an architect.
Therefore nothingness could be conscious, just vacuum or something more.

Nowadays building are not that practical anymore, there have been buildings just for the show like the Eiffel tower. In fact there have been buildings just for show since the beginning of first civilizations. Temples for gods, pyramids for pharaos, arcs for victorious battles. Still architecture has to stay practical and efficient, if not, we could not support 7 billion people on this earth. For example building a house which fits 5 families inside comfortably when it could as well fit in 15 families same comfortably with the same amount of effort put in. In other words not doing anything
There are 25 major specialties in engineering that are recognized by professional societies. In any one of those 25 specialties, the goal of the engineer is the same. The goal is to be able to come up with a cost effective design that aids people in the tasks they face each day. Whether it be the coffee machine in the morning or the roads and highways we travel, or even the cars we travel in, it was all an idea that started with an engineer. Someone engineered each idea to make it the best solution to a problem. Even though engineer 's goals are similar, there are many different things that engineers do within their selected field of engineering. This paper will focus on the architectural field of engineering.
When I was reading your response to this week’s discussion, I noticed you made some important points that I agreed with. We both agree on the belief that architecture is and should be considered art. You mentioned in your response, that there are buildings globally that hold a historic artful meaning or appearance. I could not agree with you more, our book is filled with pictures of historic architectures that have beautiful art sculptures, paintings, images, and much more on them. Architecture I believe is another form of self-expression and another art form. According to our book, “Exploring Art: A Global, Thematic Approach,” written by Margaret Lazzari and Dona Schlesier, states that, “The designs of individual homes embodied climate concerns, aesthetic preferences, and cultural choices” (Lazzari and Schlesier 128). This quote to me means, that the art is present in architecture. The structure of the home is being built according to the owner’s likings and cultural beliefs. Which in other words is an example of architecture being self-expressed.
More and more people create our hotels, schools, homes, theme parks, and several other structures. Those people are called architects, they are people who design buildings and construct them in some cases. People may also define them as scientists and artists. Frank Wright and Frank O’Gehry are similar, however, they have their own unique style and design when it comes to buildings.
Art is the expression of creative skills and imagination, through a visual medium such as painting or sculptures. Architectural is the art of designing and constriction of an object or a building. During Gilded Age the newly wealth citizens of America traced their ancestry and cultural heritage to the greater civilization and aristocracies of Europe. People spend months collecting and moving art and architecture from Europe to United States. During the Gilded Age, American architects created a different blending of style to their great houses which were initially influenced by European design. As a result of revolution, Ashcan school was introduced by a group of artists who were inspired by Robert henry. The artists believed in worthiness of immigrants and the working class life as artistic subject matter in art.
I selected architecture as my career. It involves a lot of my passions such as math, building, algebra, and designing. Architecture can mean: A general term to describe buildings and other physical structures.
The history of Architecture started long time ago. The nomadic were groups of people whom move from one place to another in order find shelter and food to survive. As they progress, their techniques to survive evolve. The need for a permanent shelter became vital for a better stability of the group. This is the time when the first structures that provided protection appeared. Post and lintel were the first forms of Architecture, that satisficed the basic needs. Architecture evolved to be more sophisticated and fulfill the people’s needs. Consequently, Architecture evolved throughout different periods such as: Ancient architecture, Romanesque, The medieval, Renaissance, Early modern, and the industrial age, Modernism and Contemporary
According to Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary architecture is “the art or science of building; specifically: the art or practice of designing and building structures and especially habitable ones, a method or style of building”. Architecture is a
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines architecture as the art or science of designing and creating buildings. Almost all locations around the world have at least one or several buildings that are of historical significance or greatly admired. These buildings not only identify its citizens and government, but the state. Through architecture it’s safe to say that one can measure many things about the culture, lifestyle, creativity, and social structure. In this paper I will be comparing and contrasting two structures located Miami, Florida.
In 1948, atof the Summer Olympics in London, Great Britain, architecture was part of one of the events (Sports-Reference). An architect is someone that designs and builds houses for people to live in or work in. Architects usually work in offices where they meet their clients, but occasionally they must travel to construction sites. They also must know how to design structures, know building and construction knowledge, and be able to analyze the environment. If someone is interested in becoming an architect, they need to know the different degrees needed to obtain, the specific skills needed and the demand and salary for the desired location (BLSbls).
s, this lesson will be focused on Aztec, Japanese and Roman. The word Architecture comes from the Greek word “arkhḗ” which means origin and “tékhnē” which means art or craft, and is the process of designing and constructing buildings such as houses, temples, public facilities, roads and aqueducts. Aztec, Japanese and Roman architecture styles, building materials and purposes reflect the civilisations degree of technological and cultural advancement. What is architecture? Well the main concept behind architecture, is the planning, designing, and constructing of buildings and other physical structures.
Architecture should be nurturing, responsive and alive, dynamically shifting spatial balances, organically expressive forms, subtly luminous colors and biologically healthy. To achieve such life-enhancing architecture, it has to address all the body senses simultaneously and fuse our image of self with experience of the world. By strengthening our sense of self and reality, architecture serves its all-important function of accommodation and
People, every day, are surrounded by architecture. Architecture is the careful planning, designing, and construction of buildings (REF). Usually the architecture of a building accurately displays the culture in which the building is located in. Although they are cultural symbols, they can also be perceived as works of art. This perceived notion of art attracted artists of all different fields. Since the start of photography, architectural photography was always a very common practice(REF). Three photographers participated in architectural photography. These were Walker Evans, Albert Sands Southworth, and Josiah Johnson Hawes. Although there were many differences in the formal elements used between these photographers, a common theme can be
Architecture, as a whole, has always fascinated me. Prior to becoming a student at the University of Florida, I was a drafter. Having drafted, I fully understand the amount of work that goes into the different aspects of the construction process. Though my career only covered the civil and environmental aspects of construction, the architectural plans that crossed my desk always intrigued me because I knew, eventually, they would come to life. As I searched through the given architects, I reflected on my knowledge of the construction process, and found an architect that not only excelled from an engineering aspect, but also appealed to me on a personal level. The architect, in my mind, had to have a unique design that was not only aesthetically
Architecture is often mistaken as purely an art form, when in actually it is where art and engineering or art and practicality meet. For example, painting is an art, when preformed well it yields a beautiful picture that evokes a deep human reaction and brings pleasure to its viewer, however this painting provides no function, it cannot shield us from the rain or protect us from the wind or snow, it is purely form. An insulated aluminum shed provides shelter and protection from Mother Nature; however, it is a purely functional building, it was drawn by an engineer, not conceived by an artist to have form. The culmination of form and function is Architecture, the Greeks and Romans fathered this idea and Palladio’s study of roman architecture taught him his valuable truth.
From the Ancient Egyptian pyramids, to the Ancient Roman Colosseum, architecture is seen in different forms all over the world. As a mechanical engineering student and an art admirer, I am extremely interested in the rich history of architecture, as well as modern architecture. Architecture was, is, and will continue to be a very important aspect of people’s lives until the end of time. Today, architecture is more than the skyscrapers in Dubai. It’s more than the prominent church of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. It’s more than just a house. Architecture is really much larger than that. Architect Daniel Libeskind declares, “Architecture is the biggest unwritten document of history”. Architecture has significant purpose and meaning. Architecture is capable of healing physically, economically, environmentally, and emotionally.
