Are electric cars worth the financial cost? Electric cars are a great way to save some money, help the environment, and really change the way that you look at cars. Some people may have different opinions about whether electric cars are really worth all the money that they cost. Other people may argue that they are worth the money because they think they are better for the environment. There are both pros and cons to buying an electric car. One pro is that they do help the environment in some ways. The cons include that they are a lot of money, and they have to be charged so there has to be a central charging station.
Electric cars do not have a carburetor. This is helpful in many different ways. One way is that Carburetors do not use fuel.

This may make them go faster for longer miles. Also, another helpful character of electric cars is that they may be able to go many miles between charges when they are done being developed. “We will all be driving around in lightweight electric cars that can go hundreds of miles between charges.” (Lindblom) The Visio.M is a type of electric car that is extremely lightweight. “The small, two-seater Visio.M is incredibly light at around only 900 pounds.” (Carter) This electric car is only half the weight of some of the other electric car brands. “One the reasons the Visio.M is so light is because the TUM team used lightweight carbon fiber and aluminum for the passenger compartment. Its windows are also made of polycarbonate instead of glass, since polycarbonate weighs only half as much as glass.” (Carter) Being a lightweight car is very useful. “because more weight requires more battery performance for the same range and thus generates higher costs. More weight also means poorer driving dynamics at the same performance.” …show more content…
Depending on what you are looking for, an electric car might be the right car for you or it might not be. If you are looking to spend some money, or in some ways save some money, and help the environment, then the electric car is the right car for you. The electric car has been improved throughout the years and it is still improving. You could stop the spreading of air pollution just by switching from a regular gas car to an electric car. If you are thinking about buying an electric car, then you should just for the simple fact that by buying one could help save the environment
The world produces around 85 million barrels of oil each day. About a quarter of that percentage goes to the United States of America, which is used up mostly by means of transportations. Most people get around from place to place using a car, a car that is powered by fuel. Everywhere one goes driving, they will eventually run into a gas station but not a charging station for electric cars. Regular cars, burn off fuel that produce emissions (carbon, nitrogen, sulfur) that pollute and harm the environment. Although, there are some positives about switching there are also some problems that could appear but could be fixed. Electric cars have the potential to reduce the amount of pollution in the environment, boost the national economy and help
Electric vehicles should be big a consideration for the world. Our planet is suffering a lot due to climate change. It’s caused by burning fossil fuel and releasing its gas into the air and most cars today run on fossil fuel and it’s damaging our planet. Electric cars are clean energy vehicles, meaning it doesn’t damage the world. This is the main reason while society needs to consider manufacturing more electric cars and make them affordable and more well known. If a big part of the world’s population used electric cars instead of cars that runs of gas, it would be very beneficial to the world. But even with this huge benefit that
Electric cars are better than gas cars because electric cars make less noise than gas cars when driving. The engines of electric cars make almost no noise, which the engineers have been perfecting for about 10 years now. The only sound you can hear is probably the hum of tires on the road when driving. On the other hand, the amount of noise inside a gas car can be as loud as 75-80 decibels. Electric cars are also better than gas cars because electric cars have low cost maintenance costs because electric cars do not need oil changes and it does not need oil for the engine to run.
Gas powered cars are one of the major causes of global warming , and air pollution. Gas powered cars are able to create a lot of carbon dioxide that harm the environment. These cars can also spill certain fluids that can harm the environment. Some of these fluids are motor-oil, gasoline and brake fluid. These fluids can harm humans as well as animals, and can pollute our water systems. Electric cars on the other hand are better for the environment. They use half the energy of a gas powered car, so they don’t cause as much pollution in the air. They also use cleaner energy; electricity, which doesn’t harm the environment as much as
Looking around, you may notice the sudden surge of sustainable engineering all around you. From new LED light bulbs, to many different kinds of robots this epidemic is sweeping the world more and more. While we are slowly shifting towards new technologies, there is one that has gained extreme popularity over the past couple of years. It is electric cars. Going a few years back to 2010 there were a few companies introducing their first models of electric cars, but almost no one was interested in buying them, and some people even hated the idea of driving one. Since then many aspects have changed and electromobility has become one of the most debated topics in car industry. So what are advantages and disadvantages and why are they so popular now?
Furthermore, let’s go into the environment aspect as to why an electric car is a better investment not only for you, but for the world we live in. All electric cars, for example, Tesla Roadster and Nissan LEAF have no tailpipe because they have no heat or gases to release as a byproduct of combustion. Therefore, electric cars are zero emission vehicles.
The first fundamental part needed in an electric vehicle is the electric motor. To put it simply, the job of the electric motor is to propel the car. Unlike a typical combustion engine, which has hundreds of moving parts, an electric motor only has one moving part [4]. The positives of this include a much lower initial cost compared to a fossil-fuel engine with the same horsepower. Having fewer moving parts also means that the motor has a longer lifespan.
Furthermore the electric car is more efficient because it uses lithium-ion batteries which are charged with electricity. Lithium-ions for the car
1. No emissions. One of the big reasons EVs are so attractive to some is that they emit absolutely no emissions. If you are worried about your direct impact on the environment, an electric vehicle will allay those concerns.
Through my research question, I hope to learn whether electric vehicles make a big enough difference to help our environment. I also want to explore why we have not gone entirely electric and specific reasons as to why people are afraid of change. People find switching to an electric vehicle to be a huge lifestyle change.
Electric cars possess less moving parts; for this reason, they have fewer maintenance requirements and expenses. Without a doubt;
Electric cars may not be as environmentally friendly as society portrays them to be. Forbes.com states that electric cars tend to be just as polluting to the environment as traditional gas powered cars. In order to transfer energy to the charging station for the cars, the factory that makes the energy must burn carbon in order to power the charging station. The charging stations are what produce the pollution, not the vehicle. Although there has been a push for alternative energy in automotive production, electric cars are just as contaminating to the atmosphere as traditional gas-powered cars.
Electric cars are becoming more and more a part of the world today. Society can see them everywhere, from the streets to TV. Car companies like Nissan and Chevy have their own line up of electric cars that perform well. Now one of the most popular car companies, Tesla, can make the Lamborghini of electric cars. To help lower emission levels and jumpstart the industry, the federal government offers a $7,500 tax credit for buyers of pure electric vehicles (Schaal, 2015). Which brings up some common questions; are all these changes in the car industry a good change from the traditional gas engine and are electric cars truly better than Gas powered vehicles making gas powered vehicles slowly become obsolete. Electric cars barely have any maintenance needed compared to gas powered vehicles. Emissions
Some people think that electric cars are great on power but in reality they are not great on power. According to Alternative Fuel Vehicles hybrids smaller are internal combustion engines and lighter weight help maximize efficiency, but can reduce acceleration.
EVs rely entirely on electricity stored inside of several large batteries for propulsion and to operate all of the components inside the vehicle. Moreover, electric cars produce minimal road noise, are extremely smooth, and provide extraordinary amounts of torque when it is needed (Berman). Also, electric cars can be recharged anywhere there are electric outlets such as in homes and apartments, whereas all gas vehicles have to travel to a filling station (Berman). Additionally, an electric vehicle is generally cheaper to operate than a petrol car since electricity is cheaper to obtain than gasoline in the vast majority of the world (Berman). Another reason to buy an electric car could be for their stunning looks. Electric cars made by Tesla and Fisker are some the most attractive cars ever created, and they contain technology that is light years beyond what is found in modern gas cars. In accordance with styling and equipment, electric cars are also exhilaratingly quick. A new sport has emerged similar to Formula One called Formula E where lightweight, powerful electric race cars speed around circuits created in major cities like London, Paris, and Beijing (Spurgeon). The cars are capable of reaching speeds of up to 140 miles per hour with the acceleration being delivered instantly upon touching the throttle (Spurgeon). Electric cars, whether
