Abortions should be illegal in the United States. Abortions have been occurring since the 1800`s. They were banned in the 1880’s except to save the life of the women. However, the Supreme Court ruled in 1973, in the case Roe vs Wade that abortion is legal in the first trimester. I disagree with this ruling because it is morally wrong. Secondly,every human being must be responsible for their actions. Lastly, there are many options available to prevent becoming a parent. We have to right to decide when we want to become a parent, but not if it involves terminating another human life.

Abortion is the murderous slaughtering of an unborn child. Around one million abortion procedures occur every year; as a result, roughly one million innocent babies die every year. Those poor human beings never had a chance to walk for the first time, start preschool, graduate, or start a family; they were killed. Children are being murdered every single day, yet nobody stops this harsh act from happening. Abortion should be made illegal because it’s practically murder, opposes God’s word, and goes against the “unalienable rights to life” recognized by the Founding Fathers.

The main point in my essay is explaining why getting abortion is wrong and illegal. This argument has a lot to do with my major because I'm pursuing a career in public health. The argument is to let women and lawmakers know legalizing abortion can ruin the value of human kind. I want this argument to be addressed so women and lawmakers can make a change.

Abortion is a way for women, or couples, to make the best decision they can for themselves and the unborn child if they are not ready to bring a child into the world. Allowing termination as a legal and ethical option lets women know they still have a choice when their world is turned upside down. The choice to abort a pregnancy allows women to remain in control of their bodies and makes women one step closer to becoming equal to men. The most important realization is that a greater number of women continue to reject abortion as a solution to a pregnancy complication. Fortunately, the population of abortion providers has also decreased since 2008. According to the CDC, legal abortion has claimed the lives of four hundred twenty-seven women between 1973 and 2012. The CDC has also found that nearly two hundred ten abortions prevail opposed to every thousand live births. Based off of an age group, close to thirteen abortions occur for every one thousand women aged fifteen to forty-four. A CDC study shows these rates appear to be down across all age groups, but especially among younger women. In the past ten years, teens fifteen to nineteen have seen rates drop over forty percent. Over the same time period, abortions for women ages twenty to twenty-four have similarly experienced a drop of twenty-five

On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court ruled, in a 7-2 decision, on the Roe vs. Wade case legalizing abortion. Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, there have been approximately 60 million abortions within the United States. The Roe vs. Wade ruling sparked a controversial debate that has lasted for over 40 years. People that are pro-choice believe that abortion should be legal and that it is ultimately the mother’s decision. The opposite of pro-choice is pro-life. People that associate with this stance believe that abortion is wrong and any life, whether born or unborn, should be protected. Over the years, there have been several arguments established both for and against abortion. Three strong arguments of pro-life are that life begins at conception, there are harmful mental effects of abortion, and there are flaws to the Roe vs. Wade final ruling.

When a pregnant woman is murdered, the murderer is charged with a double murder, whereas the killing of an innocent unborn child is legal. I believe that abortion should be illegal in the United States. The American Pregnancy Association and Gutt Macher Institute have published articles in regards to abortion. James Agresti, president of Just Facts, a nonprofit organization, also has provided facts on abortion. The Bible also speaks clearly on the subject. I believe that there is no good that may come from abortion. Abortion has the ability to damage an entire family.

Many people have wondered why abortion is legal, resulting in many riots. EC Duckworth expands on this very idea, during the 1960’s and the beginning of the 1970’s, the United States began to annul the ban on abortion. In 1973, Roe v. Wade, the United States Supreme Court argued that the bans on abortion were unconstitutional for every state. That made it legalized throughout the United States, but why was it legalized? Substance abuse with pregnant women is a situation that is being ignored in the United States. There are many pregnant woman in the United States who are abusing illegal substances without any prosecution. Allowing these women to do so causes major defects on the babies and the mothers get no serious punishment for their actions. This issue is similar to the argument on whether abortion should be legal or not, because both situations can kill the baby while it’s still in the womb. Women who use drugs while pregnant should be tried for child abuse.

The question remains, should abortion be legal? Though some may disagree on this point, the fact is that legalized abortion is the only way to protect the lives of women around the world. If you look into American history to see the results of prohibiting abortions to women, you will see that no abortion means more women dead. The violence, which occurs today because of the pro-choice/pro-life conflicts is minimal in comparison to the thousands of hopeless women who turned to illegal abortions--either self-inflicted or preformed by the backroom "professionals"-- which resulted in infection, massive blood loss, and death. It is now since the abortion is legal better for women, because they have a place to go to where abortions can be performed in a clean environment and with minimum risks. The legalization of abortion is the only choice, no matter what side one takes in the debate. Women will try to do what they think is necessary to live as they wish, no matter what the risks are. In order to live as she chooses a woman may give up her freedom, her morals, her beliefs, her family, or even her life.

Abortion is the deliberate discontinuation of a human pregnancy; in other words, the murder of an unborn baby. Recently, this particular issue has attracted violent controversy from the supporters of pro-life and the supporters of pro-choice. Ironic for a democratic nation, the majority of our nation’s population supports the legalization of abortion, which they firmly emphasize and maintain. Legalized murder, abortion as we now call it, is an immoral and corrupt practice that not only violates the values of a democracy, but also the principles of humanity.

Some of these major controversial issues that are being discussed today includes: racial profiling in law enforcement, human trafficking or prostitution, and legality of medical marijuana. One issue that has been constantly been debated on since the late 1800’s is whether or not females have the right to abortion of babies. A majority of Americans do not support abortion, although the practice of abortion is known to be legal due to many circumstances. Abortion is to be considered legal because women have full rights to their bodies, and that embryos are not considered babies yet.

In “Abortion, No more Apologies,” Katha Pollitt states abortion as a normal part of a woman’s reproductive life, one that should be accepted as a moral right and a fundamental choice with positive social implications.

Abortion is the voluntary termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first twenty-eight weeks of pregnancy, resulting in the death of the fetus or embryo. There are two types of groups that are either for abortion or against it. One group is called the pro-choice group and they believe that a woman should have access to any health care that she needs and that she should have control over her own body. Abortion is a discussion of human interaction, in which emotions, ethics, and law all come together. In many cases, people on both sides of the argument have valid points and take moral positions.
