“Gun control is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, possession, modifications, and or use of firearms by civilians.” Why is it such a controversy to have guns or don’t have guns? What makes guns so bad? I think that the American citizens should have guns, but with responsibility. For every 100 American citizens, around ninety guns are owned. And just because people have guns, that doesn’t mean that they get to have every gun possible without permission. People will be able to have some guns that they can use to protect themselves, or when hunting. In no way, shape, or form am I saying that they citizens of the United States of America can have four automatic machine guns in their possession without some kind of license. I think that if you outlaw guns, only the outlaws will have guns. Then how are you supposed to protect yourself and your loved ones? I believe that guns don’t kill people. People kill people with guns. …show more content…
Only the military should be able to have such guns. We should also make the U.S citizens get an ID and background checked to be able to get a license for any gun. I also feel that children in schools should learn more about guns and what type of damage they can cause. Guns aren’t toys, use them with respect. If you get rid of guns entirely, then you are getting rid of not only your own, but the whole country's second amendment. Then the American citizens will be upset that you took away their right as an American.
Just because I want guns in the U.S doesn’t mean I do not see downsides to the gun control laws. I realize that with guns, there are a lot of deaths a year, or even a month. But what would happen if we didn’t have guns? How would people react when they couldn’t defend themselves. When the U.S citizens weren’t able to protect
Gun violence kills 33,000 Americans and injures over 80,000 people per year. It is ridiculous how much damage guns have brought to not only us, but the world itself. From Columbine, to Sandy Hook, to the movie theatre to the Oregon Community College shooting, it has just been ridiculous. This is all because we in America believe it is okay for people to carry guns and for them to be used if “needed”. If they were always banned to begin with, we would never have had this problem. The private ownership of handguns should be banned in the United States. Handguns have been proved to be dangerous to society in recent events, they are the deadliest weapon in America, and lastly, guns cost Americans hundreds of extra dollars that could be avoided if they were banned.
Guns have been used throughout history for war, hunting, and protection. Since then, the killing capacity and speed of guns has improved dramatically. Guns have been a part of American culture from its roots. However, as times have changed and guns are no longer a necessity, gun control has become increasingly urgent to prevent unnecessary crime and killings. Guns should be banned for everyone but the law enforcement and military. Guns should be banned to prevent mass shootings and lower crime rates, while being supported by history and the constitution.
Gun control is a very controversial topic that has has a huge impact on the United States of America. One side believes that if guns were taken away as a whole, the country would see significantly less gun related crimes and death, while the other opposing side thinks that taking away guns is not only against the Second Amendment but would lead to an increase in crime and death because the government would take guns away from people who are legally registered to own and conceal guns. The ongoing debate will continue until the foreseeable future but their are plenty of reasons why more gun laws should be made. Taking away guns is not the answer, learning how to deal with gun violence is the key.
The banning of firearms in America is an illegal act, and degrades the values this country was founded on. They not only play a vital role in many people's lives, but are useful tools, fun to use, and can protect people from harm. Our founding fathers wanted us to have them to protect ourselves from the government, and would be disgusted at our government's current abuse, and overall disregard of the constitution of the United States. A lot of people argue that guns kill people; this is untrue. Guns in the hands of a negligent person have potential to kill people, just as anything else.
Every citizen should be able to protect themselves, their families, and their property. If it takes a gun to do this, then by all means, we should be able to have them in our possession. If guns were taken away from the honest people, the dishonest people would find ways to get them, and without a means of protection how could we protect what is ours. What I am trying to say is if having a gun in your possession may keep someone from trying to harm us, what we have, and own, then guns do not need to be taken from us. Maybe more restrictions should be placed on purchasing guns; for example, fines put on people having guns in their possession that are not registered to them, and also fine the person the gun is registered too. Law enforcement agencies should be notified if a gun is no longer in the possession of the person it was
There is tons of crises in the United States of America like immigration, global warming and high unemployment rate but American citizens are still alive breathing and fighting for those problems to get fixed. Meanwhile 33,880 people like children, parents, and grandparents are being killed because of the 2 Amendment which allows citizens the right to bear arms. This Amendment has made many feel safe and protected against crime but ironically guns create gun violence which is when violence is committed with the use of a gun. Instead of guns doing their jobs of protecting citizens they are killing them. Many Americans and politics just pray and forget. People just cry and nothing ever gets changed since Americans do not want to lose their privilege of owning a gun. Therefore Gun violence is America’s most urgent social crisis because it is taking away the right of someone to live their life.
More than 30,000 people are killed by firearms in the U.S per year, just let that sink in. Guns are one of the most lethal weapons in the world, all you need is a push of a trigger and boom someone could be dead. All though they are dangerous, in the U.S it is very easy to gain access to firearms due to the Second Amendment. This amendment states that every individual has the right to bear arms and it can not be broken. Personally I believe that we shouldn't give guns to just anyone just because it was written in the Bill of Rights 220 years ago that everyone should be able to own a gun. Times have changed since then I think we should reconsider the amendment, don't get me wrong I'm not saying we should completely ban them I'm just saying we
The debate over gun control is one of the most heated debates currently going on in the government, and in the general population of the United States. One side of the debate says that guns are a legal right protected by the Second Amendment, and help to keep citizens safe if they are ever attacked. The other side says that guns are an evil thing, that they are the cause of death and destruction, and they want to infringe on American 's rights, and basically negate the entire second amendment. Gun Control is something that would really hurt this nation. If guns are banned, law abiding citizens will turn in their guns, and criminals will be free to do whatever they want without the fear of a citizen having a gun to stop them.
The media and the government have all been shining a cascade of unfortunate lies on suppressors. All these tragic shootings have all come to one unfortunate conclusion: firearms are bad and must be restricted or even banned. The truth is, these events haven’t even had suppressors involved in them. This is quite an unfortunate thing since suppressors can do so much good in all aspects of their use. Suppressors are a device used to reduce the decibel level of the rifle's muzzle blast, through a system of baffles that redirect the air coming out of the barrel reducing the noise output. They are threaded onto the end of a rifle, shotgun, or pistol barrel. Suppressors should be taken off the NFA, the National Firearms Act, which is an act passed
As of 2016 there have been a total of 46,074 incidents total with guns, 11,828 of them ending in death. Gun violence has steadily increased whether it be with suicide, children, teens, gang violence, or mass shootings. It has come into question as to what or who is to blame and America cannot seem to come to a consensus and it has driven a wedge between its people. Gun violence is nothing new but it is taking more lives each and every day; If we do not make more of an effort to lessen gun violence then it will become more of a problem then it already is and continue to put people in danger.
Acts of violence involving a gun is definitely a social norm in this day and age as mass shootings and cases involving firearms increase daily. Many cases like Sandy Hook and our most recent Vegas mass shooting have shown us how easy it is to acquire and use gun as well as assault weapons. Just this year, there has been over 40,000 incidents involving a gun according to The Gun Violence Archive. The regulation of said weaponry through gun control allows for a safer environment revolving around the use and availability of firearms. With stricter gun laws, the number of victims shall decrease and lives will be saved.
In today's America, there is a huge debate on gun control and second amendment gun rights. Many politicians today want to take away people's guns, but doing so would not help fix the problem. Criminals do not follow the law, and would definitely not follow any gun laws that would be set in place. Banning guns would only endanger those who keep the law. The second amendment states that citizens have the right to bear arms, and banning them would be unconstitutional. Around the world, banning guns has only made
Guns are extremely dangerous weapons. They can cause massive destruction, harm and even death. They can be used to protect and defend or even threaten and harm. Every or any way you look at it, guns are a dangerous and powerful tool. I believe that gun restrictions should be abolished if they want to secure the safety of the people. “The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total and per capita number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns (35% of men and 12% of women)” (Hawthorn 1).
We, the people, were given the right to bear arms so we could protect ourselves and our natural rights as human beings. This right was given to us by our founding fathers so if the government ever tried to take total control, we would still have some means to protect ourselves. I cannot help but feel as though taking the guns out of the equation would make everything much worse. I do not think that banning the guns is going to help at all, I believe that violence and chaos would spread. If the guns are taken, the only people who would still have them are the criminals and the government. I do not know about you, but that just does not sound right to me. Like I said before, if someone truly wants to kill, they will find a way to do so. Even if they do not have a gun, there are many other ways to kill people. They could build a bomb, which is far
Take a look at the history of our country and the huge role guns have played in it. According to the second amendment gun ownership is perfectly legal and guaranteed as a right. There were and still are good reasons for this, luckily they are still practiced today. Back in the old times guns were used for hunting and, on the occasion self defense. But when the colonists of this country had enough of British rule, they picked up there own personal guns and went to war and the British saw first hand how powerful the group of average American gun owners were. Our forefathers knew that if the general population was armed, it would be key in the winning of the war, and it
