Arranged Marriages In Eastern Countries

In some Eastern countries having an arranged marriage is very common. This tradition has been passed down from generation to generation. Even today, these marriages have an important role in the societies where this tradition takes place. Many people agree with arranged marriages, however other people do not agree with them. I am against arranged marriages because there can be many problems in an arranged marriage. Some problems that could occur are: the couple is inexperienced with relationships, the couple doesn't like each other, and it's harder to get a divorce. One problem that can prevent a good marriage is the lack of experience. In the article "Arranged Marriages" says "Dating offers the type of experience that summer jobs offer" (Fish 1). This means that if a couple is inexperienced they will not know what to do in a relationship. Inexperience can lead to problems between them. This is a challenge because a divorce is very difficult to acquire, especially if the marriage was arranged. In the article "Love and marriage" it is said that "divorce is actually more difficult to obtain in the Protestant regime than in the Catholic" (Unknown 2). Since it is more difficult to get a divorce, the couple might have no choice but to keep the relationship going. Another reason the couple might not want to get divorce is because their parents would be angry. This is because when the son or daughter gets married, they have to take care of their retired parents. A divorce would get your parents out of retirement. Parents would also see their children as a disgrace to the family. Since the child does not want to be rejected by their parents, they are afraid to get a divorce even if the relationship is not healthy. Regardless of the situation, it will always be difficult to get a divorce in an arranged
