Mexico Independence Day is always celebrated on September 16th. Mexico gained their independence on September 16th, 1810. Many mexicans celebrate their independence day with fireworks. Many families also have fiestas on this special day in September. On this day people eat a lot of food and drink a lot of drinks. People also will gather around and dance and sing and play music on this day as well. Mexico’s Flags are also flown in the air on this day as well. People have lots of decorations of Mexico’s colors which is Red, White, and Green. Many people plant flowers this day as well. Usually the colors of the flowers are Red, White, & Green. To what extent was Mexico’s independence from Spain a “full-scale assault on dependency”? This essay will investigate how the Mexican independence from Spain was only slightly a “full-scale assault on dependency”, due to several political and social conflicts. Firstly, Mexico remained a monarchy (but not under the control of Spain) after the insurgency. Secondly, there was still an official state religion in Mexico. Another reason is because social conflicts reduced the desire for independence .On the other hand, it assaulted dependency because there were some changes within the social hierarchy, and because Mexico was free from Spain.

The Texas Revolution is a historical war that began in October of 1835 and ended in April 1836. Even before the war began, there existed hostilities between the groups of colonists and the official forces. This was culminated with the by the political and social differences that fueled the revolution. The conflict was majorly witnessed between the Mexican rulers and the Anglo-American residents of Texas (Tshaonline.org, 2015). Several accounts have been given by various eyewitnesses on the events of the Texas Revolution.

After the people of Mexico freed themselves from Spanish control, they faced difficulties trying to officially establish themselves as a country. Despite their independence, Mexico had to also live with the aftermath of Spanish colonialism. Part of the aftermath included socio-political issues amongst the Mexican people. In an effort to establish themselves as a nation, they first had to free themselves from a Spanish ideology, for Mexico truly was not free after their independence. Issues to be researched in understanding the Texas Revolution will deal with political, lawful, and social relations between the Texas colonists and the Mexican Republic. Understanding the politics, laws, and social relations between the Texas colonist and the Mexican Republic provide a crucial in-look as to why the Texas colonist revolted against Santa Anna and his Mexican Republic. Leading up to the beginning, as well as throughout the Texas Revolution, there are significant and credible amounts of crucial events that take place that provide a supporting backbone in justifying the Texas colonists and their revolt. It is these inhumane events, supported by the doctrine of the Mexican Republic with their politics, laws, and social relations with the Texas colonist, which would ultimately lead to the justification of the Texas colonist and their fight for their natural rights and for the Texas Declaration of Independence.

The Texas Revolution, like most of history, is subject to multiple perspectives and interpretations. No better example of differing perspective is the contrast between a historic abolitionist, Benjamin Lundy, and the contemporary historical analysis by an author named Randolph B. Campbell. While both can be said to be anti-slavery in their rhetoric, the concept of participant vs. observer is absolutely crucial in their interpretations of the causation of the Texas Revolution. However, being a participant, does not make a historical analysis infallible. As this paper will argue that Lundy’s interpretation of the Texas Revolution intrinsically serves as propaganda to push his own agenda of the abolitionist movement rather than review the Revolution in its entirety.

In August 1859, the citizens of Texas elected Sam Houston as their governor. Sam Houston’s continued popularity among Texas citizens temporarily outweighed his support for Unionist views, but the Southern Democratic propaganda machine eventually led to his defeat. Texas became the only state to bring a vote of secession to the people of the state and historians continue to debate the voting returns from the referendum on the Ordinance of Secession, 1861. The secession movement in Texas became a hotly debated topic as past, and present historians determined how the secessionists obtained enough power to overcome the Unionist-controlled government.

The Constitution of the Republic of Texas created differences for each and every ethnicity for each individual person. Meaning, whoever was there on the day the Republic of Texas won their independence had to be classified as a citizen of the Republic including Africans, those with African descent, and Native Americans. The Mexican War of 1846-1848 was one of major importance to U.S. history, but has since fallen into annals of obscurity. It was the nation’s first war fought on foreign soil: a war that advocated the concept of “manifest destiny”, the United States God-given right to claim territory for the establishment of a free democratic society (Stevenson 2009). Even though many historians claim the war was forced on Mexico by slaveholders greedy for new territory, President John Polk viewed the war as an opportunity to defend the annexation of Texas, establish the Rio Grande as its border, and to acquire the Mexican territories of California and New Mexico (Stevenson 2009).
