I believe that people that play sports in college should be paid because people in college struggle a lot for their living expenses. It is very hard in college to pay for tuition, living expenses, etc. People say that some nights they go hungry without food. I believe that it isn't fair for hard working athletes that risk getting injured to not get paid for their sports. Sport athletes should get paid more for their time in athletics because they are the reason colleges get money from the tickets and merchandise.
I believe that they should be paid because they are putting themselves in risk of injury and if can't pay for treatment. The least they should do is pay them because only about 19% of college players get recruited to the NBA. So that being said, they are not guaranteed a career as an NBA athlete. Many will not be able to find a job if they cannot become an NBA athlete which means people will be without homes, careers, money, etc. A college athlete lost a contract to the Kansas City Chiefs because he did not have enough money to pay for an injury. ¨You sign your letter of intent,You're so excited to come play,You get to achieve

They go to all workout, and training sessions so they can get better and benefit the team as much as possible. They are focused on the sport even if they are not getting benefits from what they do or what gets sold with their name on it. There's an article that says ¨Why N.C.A.A should not be paid¨ (Ekow N. Yankah). They say they should not be paid because ¨Its fails to recognize the value of sports of a part of education¨ Also this is totally false. Students strive to get outstanding grades so they can play the sport they love. This is totally false and they should reconsider this because you can ask people that are in sports that they are hard workers. I strongly disagree you shouldn't pay people over this false
College athletes should be paid because of the hard work, dedication and effort they put into their respective sports. These athletes are a major source of income for their schools and they are not receiving a penny for it. These college athletes deserved to be paid, colleges are using these athletes to get money and they are never given anything but a pat on the back and a good job. College athletes work and train extremely hard to perform at the highest level possible. In most cases, they spend more time training and preparing for their sport than they actually do learning and studying. They put so much on the line to play and they get nothing in return. These college athletes literally make their schools millions of dollars every
Whether college athletes should or should not get paid has been a controversial topic throughout the Collegiate Athletic Association for many years now. According to the article “My Priceless Opportunity” by Bill Walton , he believes that NCAA student athletes should not get paid because “the players entering the game know the rules going in and that they have been given a chance to make something of their lives in exchange for the privilege of being a student athlete”. Others like Michael Wilbon, author of “As Colleges’ Greed Grows, So Does the Hypocrisy”, thinks student athletes should get paid due to their hard work and labor. While I respect and admire the diligent task of being both a student and an athlete, I strongly agree with Bill Walton and the many others who support college athletes not being paid.
College athletes should be paid. The athletes put in as much work as the people who do get paid. Why should they not be paid? There are many pros for why they should get paid, but there are also many cons on why they should not get paid. The athletes should get paid because of how hard they work in season and the off-season. Do not pay all of the athletes, but pay the ones who are at a D1 college. The athletes should get paid because they put in the same amount of time as the pros do, and the pros get paid.
Many people argue yes student-athletes ' deserve to be paid and one of the biggest reason many people support the idea of college athletes being compensated is because the NCAA and many universities make millions from advertisements, sponsorships, TV deals, and even video games and players is the cause
Student athletes should not be paid. A misconception is that all athletic programs in the NCAA make head-over-toe profit. There are three divisions of intercollegiate athletics, and frankly division three athletic programs don’t make as much or have a profit when compared to division one programs. “Critics of paying college athletes note that only a small number of them compete in sports or on teams that actually generate revenue”. (Paying College Athletes) The truth is only a fraction of athletic programs are actually profitable, while most pose a cost to the institution. The question arises primarily in division one programs and typically in the sports of basketball and football. The argument is made that these institutions receive millions of dollars from their student athletes’ performance, in return they should be paid.
On the other end of the question there are people who think student athletes should not be paid. They are called “student athletes” after all. Being paid for something that really isn’t a job doesn’t make sense to a lot of people. It also seems unfair to the students who aren’t athletes who work their butts off in school and don’t get paid for their hard work. Many don’t see sports as important and see it as just a hobby. They believe that being paid for doing something you willingly joined and something you just like to do just seems silly.
Free education is a huge factor as to why they should not be paid. Research shows that “College athletes don't have to worry about student loans, paying for textbooks, the cost of on living and meal plans.” (Source B) Which can add up to a substantial amount. I would say they get free education, in return they represent the school in sports.
College athletes should be paid because of the huge amount of money being made off of the use of their athletic ability. The college basketball and football games that everyone watches on TV is no longer just a game, it is a business. The colleges and arenas hosting such events are not doing it solely for the love of sport, they are doing it for the money that will flow generously into their banking accounts. The coaches also, they are not volunteers, they are not there just for their love of the game, coaching is their job. The athletic directors, coaching staff, and event staff are all doing their job to put food on the table. The fans are watching the game, the players, the ones who are making huge sacrifices to be on the court. The
College athletes, especially division 1 athletes have tremendous talent in whatever sport that they play in college, this is why college coaches recruit them and make sure that they attend their university. There is some speculation as to whether or not a college athlete should be paid while attending any university. The answer is no. College athletes are not professional athletes and this is one of the main points and they should not get paid due to the fact that some are not ready for that privilege and it defeats the purpose of them going to college. College athletes are labeled as student-athletes and the first term in that name is “student”. This is for a specific reason which is that not all college athletes are going to end up playing in a professional league and attending college
Whether or not college athletes should be paid is one of the most discussed debates trending around the world. What do you think about college athletes getting paid? Are universities just taking advantages of these athletes talent without any reward? This debate can go either way, which is why many people are trying to figure out the right solution.
programs. The University of Texas football team makes the most revenue out of any other
College athletes should not be paid. “ They argue that the main purpose of going to college is to get a education, not to make money” (“Should college”...1). College is not a job, it is a place to learn. Also many college athletes receive scholarships to attend that school. “The value of the scholarships athletes receive during four years of college can be well over $250,000” (Weiss et al.1). Therefore, athletes
College athletes should not get paid. College athletes getting paid has a lot to do with most of the coaches being involved and letting them get paid. Most coaches get paid millions of dollars and most of the time that’s who the college players or their families are getting the money. Athletes wonder about getting money and how they are a going to get it. Well here is why college coaches make money off the player. The players are the ones who are really the reason why most coaches get paid the largest amount that they get. How good the player plays, their popularity etc. Coaches start off recruiting with a salary instead of a scholarship. But salary does not give a better deal than a scholarship.
I strongly believe that college athletes shouldn’t get paid because a scholarship to a college to play for their team and a free education is enough payment. Student-athletes with full-ride scholarships don’t have to worry about student loans or any other debts they would have to pay back for attending that college.
College athletes are finally getting attention on the fact that they are not paid. I believe that whether or not it is college or pro sports they deserve a salary. These players put their heart and soul on the field and get nothing in return. In the articles “Athletes New Day” by Paul Marx and “College Athletes Should Not Be Paid” by Warren Hartenstine, the reasons for college athletes to be paid are very evident. No matter the case, if the students move on to pro sports or not after college, they should be entitled to some pay for their contributions. College athletes deserve to be compensated for their playtime in these sports, sales of products with their name on it, and even compensation for their injuries.
