These key traits are better defined as maintaining overall good business morals, obtaining employees who possess personal ethical values, and finally to behave ethically and with sensitivity toward social, cultural, economic and environmental issues. For a business to better ensure these quality business traits a code of ethics should be adopted by the business. In the cases of Bernie Madoff and Enron, the most well-known financial scandals in history, I feel, gave a major hand in pushing business all across America to have and enforce the code of ethics.

We have done numerous Monday Memoirs throughout the year. However, only a couple of my Monday Memoirs stood out to me while I was looking for one to reflect on. Out of the countless Monday Memoirs, my most effective one was the “Shoe Story” that I completed in marking period one. The prompt that I chose during that week is “write a first person account of a day in the life of a shoe worn by anyone.”

Sandals...tennis shoes…heels…flip-flops. I am a teen girl and as the saying goes, “you can never have too many shoes.” Every school year since I can remember, my mom would take me to shop for shoes. I have always known that I’m blessed to have all the necessities that I need in life, but never felt spoiled or that my expectations were too high. Growing up I had heard the word suicide but never truly new what they meant I was 8 when I found out what it meant. I had heard the word for the first time when I was at the cemetery visiting family member's graves. I had walked away from my parents for a second to go see this head stone that caught my eye. I walked down there to find out that it was a boy he was 18 when he died. I thought that was strange that he died at such a young age. I asked my mom what had happened to him. That's when I found out what suicide was. My mom explained that he had took his life because he got bullied in school and it drove him to kill himself. It was one of the saddest stories I had ever heard and problems will ever hear.
