      Superman, also known as Clark Kent, is the most popular modern day hero. Superman spent most of his time saving people from natural disasters and corrupt businessmen. He would level slums to force the city to build decent housing, and he would use his powers to terrorize munitions makers.

Is this modern concept much different than other stories we have grown up watching from an early age? I believe there are many similarities in stories of superheroes and comic many of us grew up reading and watching on Saturday mornings. Batman, a well-known super hero, fought crime in Gotham and was the “Dark Knight” that restored peace in his community. While Batman did not kill the criminals he was chasing after he did bring them to justice!

Both Marvel and DC have their collection of heroes and villains. The only heroes and villains that will be compared are ones with near god-like abilities. Superman is one of these god-like heroes from the DC universe. He has the ability to fly, super strength, near invincibility, super speed, and laser vision. Although he was killed in the events of Batman V Superman, he was revived in the events of Justice League. Superman could destroy tanks, planes and other enemies with relative ease. His comparative hero from the Marvel universe is Thor. Although Thor cannot fly without his hammer, he has the ability to call down lightning, super strength and immortality. In the world of superheroes, there are numerous that believe they are heroes, while in actuality, they are merely vigilantes. This is demonstrated throughout the world of superheroes, but it is not as prominently demonstrated as in Batman. Batman presents himself as a hero, while he is only an over imaginative vigilante. He is more a vigilante than a hero since he has the ability to stop crime, but doesn’t, he only does deeds for his own benefit, and he helps the law but isn’t part of it. These are only a few ways Batman is a vigilante, rather than a hero. These are mainly based upon the idea of him trying to right his own past.

To people that have comic book illiteracy, Batman and Superman would seem like they would be pretty similar to each other, which is true but only to a degree. They have similar names, outfits, and both live two different lives, etc. On the other hand, when it comes down to what makes these two men special, they are polar opposites. They have differences in backgrounds, powers, motivations, and in what makes them popular among fans. Despite their similarities in outward appearances, Batman and Superman are exceedingly distinct from one another.

Batman and Superman are both very popular Superheroes that have many DC fanatics behind them. Each has their own style and methods of achieving justice. Superman is an authentic superhero with great powers and Batman is just a crime fighter with technology and money. In the end, Superman should be considered a better hero than Batman.

Batman outfit is gray with black and a mask which anyone could determine the evil and dark he represents by the outside. Superman is in a brightest outfit representing America and the kind a hero they will choose definitely to fight crime. Frank Miller only wanted to bring Batman a little bit different with other perceptions including his principal rival Superman to make the story interesting and give the opportunity for many readers to notice wrong actions from our comic heroes.
