Over the years bear sightings have become common in Northern New Jersey, but after the 2016 bear hunt the population dropped and bear sighings have become rare. During the most recent bear hunt, over 653 bears were killed in an attempt to control the population’s slow increase. Now bear sightings have become rarer than they ever have been in the state of New Jersey. Many people are against this bear hunt, claiming bears aren’t as dangerous as people are lead to believe. Additional to the killing of hundreds of bears, the ecosystem will most likely be negatively affect, since Bears are one of the top predators. Protesters of this hunt also state that it is morally wrong to kill so many bears. Many of the protesters are asking the question, “If …show more content…
Bears only become aggressive when they feel threatened. Other than this situation, it is very rare for bears to intentionally attack people. If people were proverly educated on bear safety and how to not provoke them, then there would be a decrease in the amount of bear attacks. Countless bear attacks in New Jersey happen because of hikers invading the bear territory and in some way provoking them. A good solutions is for the state of New Jersey to make trails that avoid bear territories. This way bears and humans have little interaction and conflicts. Bears are very important factors to environmental and aesthetic values. Bears are very high in the New Jersey food chain. Taking out a large chunk of the population can cause a drastic increase in prey such as deer and small mammals. Not only are they important to the ecosystem, but they also supply the forests of New Jersey with a natural beauty.
Bears attract a large number of tourists to the forests of New Jersey. A popular recreational activity is bear watching; this activity is safe for hikers to participate in because they are staying out of bear territories, but also getting the experience of seeing a
This includes, the need for lumber in Canada and the need to transport oil. Transporting lumber and oil is resulting in polluted waters, and bears feeding on polluted fish. Deforestation is affecting Kermode Bears because of habitat loss and the need to transport the cut trees. In the future Kermode Bears could nearly be extinct because of the proposed Enbridge\Gateway pipeline that would transport oil from Alberta's oil sands through The Great Bear Rainforest, to Kitimat British Columbia. After the pipeline, the oil would be sent to market on large oil tankers, with a chance that the oil could be spilt.
Similarly, "Nuisance Bear" depicts the challenges faced by a bear as it navigates through urban areas, highlighting the conflicts that arise when animals venture into human-populated spaces. The film portrays the polar bear as an animal desperately trying to find food and shelter in a human-populated area. At (10:24-10:34) the clip shows the polar bear looking for something which seems to indicate it's in a place where it doesn't
These bears are the only species of bear living on the archipelago, this means they “don’t have any natural predators” ( Bio Expedition 2015) The bears only have to worry about other Kodiak bears especially if they have cubs to take care of. Kodiak bears are mammals meaning they are warm blooded and have live births, the
Sun bears have a unique diet. Their dies consist of berries, insects, leaves and lizards. Sun bears favorite snack is honey. Cubs have very few predators. Their predators are snakes and large birds. Since cubs can’t turn their necks as far they’re more vulnerable than adults.
According to the FWC, hunting supports keeping population size in check, fewer bears being pushed into neighborhoods and increasing wariness and fear of humans. Bears were removed from Florida’s threatened species list in 2012. About 300 bears are expected to be killed by an unlimited number of permitted hunters. Florida has an estimated 3,150 black bears in four regions — the eastern Panhandle, Northeast Florida, east-central Florida and South Florida — where the hunts would be conducted, according to the Panama City New Herald. The numbers are based on 2002 estimates for the eastern Panhandle and South Florida, and a 2014 count in the Northeast Florida and east-central Florida regions.
A similar study was also conducted in coastal South Carolina in Georgetown and Horry County. This study occurred due to the increase of bear sightings and bear-human conflicts in this region. In each of these areas, there was a difference in population density due to habitat quality. It was discovered Pocosin habits are the most productive habitat for bears because they provide cover, ample food supply, and have little human disturbance (Drewry, Van Manen, & Ruth 2013, Landers et Al. 1979). In correlation with the previous study, this analysis illustrated how large populations are a source population to smaller adjacent populations. In order to maintain the smaller populations, habitat connectivity between the source and sink populations is impetrative.
The bears in Alaska rarely have people near them so they eat berries and whatever they can find. " Polar bears can live anywhere they find food and they prefer the area they were born." (Ned Rozell) Eating a polar bear's liver can kill you because it contains so much Vitamin A that humans can't handle. "
Tourists visiting Banff National Park, should not be feared by bears or any type of animals. Make sure you have your bear spray in case of any emergency.
Polar bears are part of the eco-system and humans depend on the ecosystem as it brings about the balance of nature. However polar bears are not dependent on humans. Polar bears have been around for years and without the help of humans have continued to thrive
The polar bears are dying rapidly, and if we don’t start thinking about the environment then they will blow out to extinction. Polar bears, known as the bears of antarctica, are magnificent animals. They are the top consumer for most prey. Without them, the secondary consumer would overpopulate and eventually lose control and take over.
If human were to start building a big city in the forest, bears would start to fear humans. They would start going through dumpsters. They probably become more aggressive, and then incidents, attacks, and fatalities would occur
When someone think of reconnecting with nature and learning good life skills, normally hunting is not the first word that comes to mind. Actually hunting teaches many food safety tips, gun safety, and many business lessons including discipline and patience. Many people think that hunters damage the population and don’t support conservation efforts. There’s a lot of information supporting that hunters are one of the biggest supports for wild animals as well as conservation efforts. The California black bear population is rising and the number of bears killed is going up. The estimated population is to have reached 38,000 and the number killed had reached a new high, which proves that hunter help make populations grow. (Bear Population Explosion 1)Hunters do help the environment and contribute to conservation efforts, people don’t acknowledge that the real danger to animal habitats is industrialization, modernization, and poaching.
Bear is a true carnivore, but if not prevented the black bear could be a huge problem to humans.
In 2008, the United States declared the polar bears an endangered species. Endangered species is defined as “a species at risk of extinction because of human activity, changes in climate, and changes in predator-prey ratios…” (Dictionary). Andrew Derocher, a professor of biological sciences at the University of Alberta, recalls that 30 years ago polar bears “could be seen up and down the icy shores of the Hudson Bay”, however within that time frame, their numbers decreased significantly to the point that they were added to the list by an environmental change that greatly impacts Earth (Palmer). 30 years ago, the population was above 100,000 polar bears, and now that population has dropped between 15,000 and 20,000 (Palmer). Derocher believes that “human-caused global warming is causing the Arctic Sea, the bears’ habitat and hunting ground, to melt and decline” (Palmer). In order to prevent any further damage to the environment, one must consider the ethics when addressing climate change. To do so, I have decided to look into how climate change affects biodiversity, our home, and why some believe that climate change doesn’t exist and possible solutions to better improve the environment to solve the climate change problem.
We can save bear buy stop selling guns because it is dangerous you why it is dangerous because not just killing the bears if you try to kill a bear you might kill other animals.Haveing guns people are killing bears for know reason.
