Becoming a President of the United States of America
Being a president of the United States of America isn’t easy, it takes a special kind of person, someone tough, smart, and driven, just to run for the job. It even takes talent and character to hold up the pressures of life in the White House. So when someone decides that they would like to run for president it begins with making sure they meet certain requirements, which are: you must be a born citizen of America or at least have one parent born in the US at the time. You must have been a resident in the United States for 14 years. You also must be 35 years of age or older.

However, political parties select candidates for the position of president. Parties also present policy alternatives for voters and some voters even choose candidates from the same party for all positions in that election. A party that doesn’t hold the majority in Congress often keeps the party in power from taking complete control. Party leaders can also criticize actions of the President that was voted by the opposite party. They take control on issues and discuss the points of view of others parties, which is important because they can then inform the public about the issues and how to solve them. Representatives usually support their party’s decisions when considering laws and policies. Interest groups consists of organizations that pressure elected officials to enact legislation favorable to its causes. The most common type of interest group is formed around businesses, corporations, and trade associations and part of their reputation for power is based on the fact that they represent about half of all interest groups. Interest groups are actively involved in the political campaigns, electioneering is intended to help others elect candidates who favor their position or defeat those of the opposite
The interest groups often lobby members of the congress for favorable policy. The members of congress often listen as well because they are depended on the interest groups for political advertising and campaigning during the
Interest groups have a lot of influence over decision that the government makes and has made. These groups, when formed right, are highly organized and have a definite agenda they are trying to push that is important to them. Interest groups will lobby in congress as well as other levels of government to get new laws and regulations passed.
The three formal qualifications of a president are that he is a “natural born citizen”, he is at least 35 years old and that he has been a resident of the United States for at least 14 years.
Political parties are very similar in a sense to interest group because both are “seeking influence over the government” by electing their members to office (Lowi 493). I really don’t think I need to go into detail about this point/quote because it’s rather self-explanatory that for example, the republican party and democratic party of the United States are constantly going at it in terms of which party the next United States president is going to be affiliated with. But not just being the president, but also other members of United States government. Some roles of political parties consist of facilitating collective action in the electoral process, resolving problems of collective choice in government, and to deal with problems of ambition (Lowi 493). Basically, facilitating collective action is a political party’s job to get commitment from the people of the United states to commit to whoever the party’s candidates are and what they stand for. Resolving problems of collective choice is basically all of the party members understanding they have the same common opinions and they need to be open to compromise to make everyone within the party happy
Interest groups are structured groups which try to influence government to adopt certain policies or measures. The responsibilities of an interest group can be never-ending. One of the main responsibilities of an interest group is giving the underrepresented a chance to speak out on issues they are passionate about. The Rainbow/Push Coalition is an interest group I believed I would be passionate about.
The role of the people in an interest group is to influence the government in the following ways:
In order to be qualified to serve as President of the United States, a person must be a natural born citizen. A person could have also been a citizen of the United States at the time of the adoption of the Constitution, but that time has long passed. A person must also be at least 35 years old, and been a resident of the United States for 14 years.
Prior to becoming America’s first president, George Washington served as the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. He is known as a great hero and for his wooden dentures. Throughout his life, he was plagued with dental miseries which were first recorded in his diary at the age of 24.i He had numerous dentures, full and partial, but contrary to popular myth, they were not made from wood. They might have looked like wood due to stains from everyday wear, but the dentures were made from materials such as bone, hippopotamus ivory, human teeth, brass, lead, and gold
Throughout American History, people expect those who run for president to fully understand the occupation and its role as president and the importance of soliciting their votes. During each election, America assumes that each candidate will thoroughly explain their positions and their values so that the people can become familiar with the candidate and begin to trust them. Over time, the way presidential candidates promote themselves to America continued to evolve in many different ways that connect more with people on a nation wide level. Also, each president has a role they must follow. They are expected to understand the qualifications of a president and its powers in position so they can truly be in running as the Chief Executive of the United States of America. Moreover, new ways of publicizing the campaigns, have become a major role in understanding each candidate. With that being said, strategizing and campaigning have changed dramatically as new technology was introduced. In early America, the presidents were limited to its abilities as laws were new and not concrete. Once the U.S. developed into its truest form, the government realized its strengths and weakness. While overcoming many obstacles in the colonies in the early times of America, then later being a whole nation as one, the government created a unique governmental system that included regulations for the president in order to keep America united and tranquil. In the early times of this nation, voting
I know we use that title a lot around here. It’s a play on words meant to mean speaking about civics, and speaking civilly. Lately it seems a little hard to do. Both are so important. I don’t know about you, but I am getting a little tired of seeing polls and man (woman) on the street interviews about basic civics and U.S.
Article ii clause five of the United States Constitution states that the requirements to be the president of the united states, one must meet three qualifications, be a us born citizen, live in the united states for the last 14 years, and must be 35 years of age. At the time the constitution was made these were requirements were very restricting, but in today's time they are not as restricting, and anyone who meets them can run including celebrities. There are many celebrities who have said they may run for president, and most notably are, Chris Rock, Dwayne Johnson, Kanye West, Katy Perry, and Oprah Winfrey. Each of these candidates meets these qualifications, but there are other “unofficial” requirements needed to be elected. Two of the most important is education and political backing.
Political parties and pressure groups are dependent upon one another. Interest groups find the parties an important method of gaining access to those in public authority, and the parties need the support of groups to elect and maintain themselves in power. The loose party structure and the nature of the federal system foster a chain of continuous relationships between the two. Interest groups participate in both nonpartisan and partisan primaries and general elections through candidate endorsement, providing campaign funds, and general campaign activity. Interest groups are particularly interested in programs and seek to influence party platforms and may provide speech materials for candidates. There is some attempt on the part of both to infiltrate each other though rarely has an interest group been able to capture complete control of a party organization. The overlapping memberships help to educate the parties about the interests of the private groups and vice versa, and provide some cross-fertilization of ideas as well as manpower assistance. Political parties have a prime function of accommodating the demands of the private interests into the larger public interests (Bone. A, 1958).
The two major interest groups are made up of the economic group and the citizens group. Each one of these groups have the interest of the America people just in different ways. Economic groups are made up of your blue collar people, labor unions, farm groups, and corporations (Patterson, 2013). This interest group focuses on the financial aspect of the people. Money plays the going role within the economic group in order to influence politicians and their own pockets. Part of this group are business groups. Business groups lobby for their own wellbeing and are very influential because they normally have the most money involved. Next are the labor groups who represent unions. They help to seek better job conditions and pay for workers. Another
Although it is often said that the President of the United States holds the most powerful office in the world, this does not mean that he is able to decide very much for himself. The American Constitution, which was adapted in 1789, clearly states the Separation of Powers. Thus, the president makes up only one third of the government, namely the executive branch. He is also controlled by a complex system of checks and balances, which makes sure that he (or any of the other branches, for that matter) does not become too powerful. We will now have a look at the different problems which may be facing a recently elected president, and then discuss to what extent his powers are important.
To run for President of The United States you must first meet the requirements set for in Article Two of the US Constitution. This Article states that to serve as President you must be a natural born citizen of the US and be at least 35 years old. You must also be a resident of the United States for over 14 years. This candidate doesn’t have to meet these requirements prior to running but must meet them by Inauguration Day. What is not mentioned in the requirements, is the amount of funds it takes to run for President. It can cost up to hundreds of millions of dollars to fully fund a Presidential campaign run. This reason alone is what limits so many third party candidates for President. Only billionaires such as Ross Perot can have some success running this way.
