The early period works were influenced by Haydn and Mozart. The middle period is when he developed his own individualistic style of music and it was also described as heroic because he produced pieces like the Third symphony and the opera Fidelio. And the late period is when his music began to evolve into difficult and complex type of music and included styles of Bach and Handel. He is most famous for his Fifth symphony in C minor, Ode to Joy from the Ninth symphony and his opera Fidelio. He was very contemporary with his style and structure of music, often using various instruments that have been never used before. At the age of 29, he started to experience signs of deafness but he produced some of the greatest works like the Missa solemnis, the Ninth Symphony when he was totally …show more content…

Both Haydn and Beethoven are known as two of the greatest classical/romantic composers in the history of music. Haydn is identified as the father of modern symphony, as well as the father of the string quartet. He has played an essential role in developing the piano trio and the sonata form. Beethoven is also a widely recognized composer in Western music, his style joined the lull between the Classical and Romantic eras. Beethoven traveled to Vienna when he was young to study under Haydn. However, due to disputes and differences between the two composers, lessons only lasted for a little over a year. The teachings, if only for a short period, left a mark on Beethoven, and can be observed in his compositions.
● On March 26, 1828 was his first and only public concert. I was successful.
I saw a Beethoven concert online which took place on May 7th, 2015 in Chicago, to celebrate the anniversary of Beethoven’s glorious masterpiece Symphony 9. Beethoven’s fifth symphony, composed in 1808, is a fantastic musical masterpiece. It sends you on a wild emotional rollercoaster for the entire thirty-two minute length of the piece. The first movement is in sonata form, the second is in theme and variations form, the third is a scherzo and the last movement is also in sonata form.
The concert I attended was Beethoven Fourth Symphony conducted by Tito Munoz. This concert took place at the Phoenix Symphony Hall and consisted of three pieces. The first one was Symphony No.4 by Beethoven, the second was Concerto no. 1 for Piano and Orchestra by Alberto Ginastera, and finally was La valse by Maurice Ravel. Overall, this concert had a great variety from very melodic pieces to suspenseful music.
Washburn University Wind Ensemble consists of flutes, oboes, bassoons, horns, trumpets, trombones and other instruments. They started with Winter Ricercar. This piece of music is quite new and people may not familiar with that. But their performance described a beautiful winter for the audience. Der Traum des Oenghus, op 37 (1993-96) was a really great piece, they performed the two parts. The first part is called In nächtlicher Ruhe. The sound of this part started from very weak then got to stronger. As for the melody, part one repeated the theme of many times. The melody is short but has been repeated over and again in a different pitch. The texture is homophonic. Also,
Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony showed the world not only what a nearly perfect musical composition sounds like, but also the sheer relevance and absolute importance of historical context in the perception of music. Written from 1811 to 1812, the piece has to this day remained one of Beethoven’s greatest works. Beethoven dedicated the symphony to Count Moritz von Fries, an aristocrat that frequently hosted Beethoven in his more than accommodating home. The premiere for the symphony was on December 8th, 1813 at a charity concert where the proceeds went to wounded Austrian and Hungarian soldiers from the battle of Hanau. The symphony was immediately popular, winning the admiration of critiques and audiences alike. Described as the most perfect

For someone that has competed in classical music memory in school and that uses classical piano music for my soothing “study music” I have heard Beethoven's 5th many times, although not quite ever like this. I have always heard the more sophisticated and precise version of the symphony, whether it may be for recreational listening or building up the intensity in movie scenes.

Many questions go around about what day Ludwig Van Beethoven was born. Most do not know and most likely will not ever know. They say that he was born a day or two before he was baptized on December 17th, 1770. That was the beginning of one of the greatest musicians alive.
Beethoven was a German composer (1770-1827). His early achievements, as composer and performer, show him to be extending the Viennese Classical tradition that he had inherited from Mozart and Haydn (Kerman). The time period between 1801 to 1802, Beethoven had begun to realize that he was gradually becoming deaf. The immediate results of this devastating discover was withdrawal from his glittering social life: “I find it impossible to say to people, I am deaf,” he wrote (Taruskin). As a result, he began to compose in an increasingly individual style, and at the end of his life he wrote his most sublime and profound works (Kerman). His major works include 9 symphonies, 11 overtures, 1 violin concerto, 16 string quartets, 9
"What you are, you are by accident of birth; what I am, I am by myself. There are and will be a thousand princes; there is only one Beethoven" (Beethoven, Favorite Classical Composers). This quote by Ludwig van Beethoven shows just how confident of a composer he was. When people to day think of Beethoven they may think of some of his famous works such as Missa solemnis, his Ninth Symphony, or his Pastoral Symphony. Other people may see Beethoven as a deaf composer who lived a short life. These works and facts are snippets of who Beethoven really was. He was much more than a great composer who suffered for his art. Many people may think that Beethoven was not one of the more notable composers of his or any era. However, I believe that Ludwig van Beethoven is one of the greatest composers of the late 18th century due to his dedication, quality of work, and individualism.
