As a Chinese saying goes, “Gold can’t be pure, and man can’t be perfect.” This saying means that everyone has flaws. If we want to keep someone’s saintly image long, we’d better spend less time with him/her in order to appreciate them. The more time we spend with others, the more flaws we may find, which is detrimental to their images. As we all now, Beethoven was one of the most greatest composers and pianists in Western art music. However, behind Beethoven’s fame and achievements, people rarely know his bad temper since not everyone could stay with him intimately. Therefore, Beethoven’s image in majority’s eyes is magnificent. In fact, Beethoven threw hot food at his servants and taunted his servants. Aa a result, his servants changed every month because they couldn’t endure him. When I was in junior high school in China, I appreciated the guy who always got the first place in the grade and considered him as my example. Not only did he win many awards in many subjects but also played badminton well. In the last year of my junior high school, I got a chance to lived with him in the same room of the dormitory. As time went by, I always had quarrels with him because he always turned on his little lamp at night to study, which affected my sleep a lot. Sometimes I asked him some questions about Chemistry, he barely answer me since he was afraid that my grade would be higher than him. He didn’t believe in me even when we played badminton doubles. Throughout the whole year, I found that he was a recalcitrant and selfish man. From then on, I didn’t appreciate him any more.
