Behaviors, are what people do and say, as humans, we notice how certain behaviors can be desirable but also undesirable. Though behavior modification, a person can attempt to alter a specific behavior by analyzing the behavior, and create a personalized plan to modify the behavior. When analyzing the behavior a person needs to decide if the behavior is either is in excess (to decrease the undesirable behavior) or deficit (to increase desirable behavior). Once behavior is the selected, then the person must decide if they desire to increase or decrease their behavior. Afterwards, the person needs to create a plan of action, this depends on their research design and recording method. The plan action is personalized for each study. Behavior modification allows a person to analyze a specific behavior and use a scientific technique to test if their treatment/intervention will modify their behavior. For example, I choose a target behavior to modify this semester which was studying. I had a behavioral deficit in studying that I desired to address, I wished to increase my time studying by twenty-five percent. My definition of studying was any time (in minutes) that I dedicated to focusing on material necessary for my current classes, some examples are reading material for class, doing assignments for class (homework or essays), and reviewing material for exams (additional reading, notes, or index cards). Most contemporary psychological treatment approaches are predecessors of the ancient and medieval philosophies and theories. Cognitive behavioural therapy as one of the modern treatment method in not an independently formed treatment, different theories have contributed to its present shape and application.
This essay will compare and contrast two theories of behaviour management by Carl Rogers and BF Skinner and argue ways in which one of these theories could be implemented for a particular context and practice. Roger’s theory is based on a humanistic approach, while Skinner’s theory takes a behaviourist approach; each theory has both benefits and shortcomings. Their views form opposite ends of the learning spectrum. These theories will be examined as their respective works address the underlying issue of how children learn to behave.

Cole’s mother and English teacher completed BASC II scales. The BASC II measures a student’s emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning. The score that is used for the scale is the T-score. The T-score indicates the distance of a score from the norm group mean. The BASC II has a mean T-score of 50 with a standard deviation of 10. Scores ranging 60 to 69 are considered to be in the At-Risk range. The T-scores that are 70+ are in the Clinically Significant range. On the Adaptive Scale portion of the BASC II, the T-Scores that are from 30 to 39 are in the At-Risk range. The T-scores that are below 29 are in the Clinically Significant range.

Smoking was selected as the behaviour I wish to change because it is known that tobacco use is the leading cause of premature, preventable death and disease (Edwards, Bondy, Callaghan, & Mann, 2014). Are you the type of person who wants to be able to go to work everyday doing something you love, helping others who need it, and getting a smile on your face just by the smallest of things that someone does? That is the type of person I am, which is why I chose the career path of a Behavior Specialist. A Behavior Specialist is someone who works with a person who may have a disability, and they study and work with them to make things as easy as possible for their daily life. They focus on the perception of life, however sometimes hesitate to present the strong conclusions how behaviors cause certain emotion (Thompson). A Behavior Specialist is also known as a Social Psychologist, because they study how a person’s mental life and behavior are shaped by interactions with other people (“Pardon Our Interruption”). The four main behaviors that Behavior Specialists look for when studying the actions of a person are, “Self-awareness, emotion, motivation, and feelings” (“Modeling the Early Human Mind”). Although I believe being a Behavior Specialist is a dream job, there are always issues that go along with any job, in this case emotions play a role in the occupation working with people who need extra help.
A student named Jamie refuses to do her work. She is constantly talking and interrupting the other students and makes no effort to participate in class. The teacher has to constantly reprimand the student and it is causing less learning due to the interruptions within the classroom. She seems somewhat clear of the rules and procedures in the classroom, but is not motivated to follow them.
The purpose of the goal staff will be to help a youngster in improving a specific behavior. This goal will be assessed by the staff and they will present their review twice a day on the basis of their observation that they noticed in an individual regarding a specific behavior.

Behavioral counseling supports women so they don’t have to quit alone. The counselor may ask, What is the reason why you started smoking?. A typical response would be “ smoking calms me down” or “I feel more comfortable in social situations with a cigarette in my hand”. My overall experience with the behavior change project was positive, as I was able to successfully change my sleeping habits. Although there were times when sticking to my behavior change plan was extremely difficult, I was able to stay on track and change my sleeping habits. As a result of my behavior change, I now feel healthier and less fatigued. Because of these physical improvements, important areas of my life, such as school and sports, have improved also. My performance in the classroom and on the basketball court has noticeably become better after making this behavior change.
