My drivers’ license brought me great feelings and let me do more with my life than I could ever do before. As well as giving me those feelings and that type of freedom, having my drivers’ license opened up a new image of the community for me. I could see more of the city, gain experience with directions and I could improve my driving abilities all with my drivers‘ license. I also became very interested in the way the automobile works and eventually looking more into what makes it go faster. Driving fast in a car may be unsafe but the thrill and excitement of high rates of speed gave me a rush I had never felt before. Seeing, feeling and hearing everything go by faster made the whole driving experience so much better. My mouth watered with envy as I approached the drivers’ seat every time I went out for a drive. The automobile, as a whole, became a high interest of mine; the styling, the sound and the speed of it. I loved driving and I loved cars and all of this new found love was from the birth of my drivers’ license. Such a simple piece of paper opened up such a broad area of learning for me; it was of much amazement to me. Receiving my drivers’ license was the best day of my life. It will be remembered forever because of the feelings, experience and new beginnings that it gave me. Today, I still hold my interest in the automobile but the thrill of driving has dulled significantly since I receive
Usually as a sophomore in high school we experience one of the most exciting things, driving. The minute one turns fifteen and a half we race to the DMV, take the test, and get our temporary licence. This is where we spend the next half a year in a car with our parents, practicing and being told everything to do and not to do.
Did you know that each year, car accidents result in more teen deaths than any other cause? There is a way to prevent this and that is to institute the Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) in all states. This would help by allowing teens to earn driving privileges gradually. Instituting the Graduate Driver’s License will reduce traffic deaths among teens, and also gives teens the driving experience they need to operate a vehicle responsibly.
I struggled so much when learning to drive, I didn’t think I would ever be able to get my license. Everytime I go out and drive something different would always go wrong. I would get too caught up in the freedom of driving and listening to the blaring music that I would forget something. When I first started I wouldn’t think it would ever be this hard because my parents make it look so easy. When I was fifteen I was learning how to drive, but I kept struggling with a couple different aspects of driving. Eventually after I kept practicing I was able to perfect the art of driving, and come closer to becoming an adult.
Approximately a year ago, I was super excited to get my driver’s license and drive on my own. I had practiced day almost every day with my mother. With butterflies in my stomach, I went to my local DMV office to take the driving test. I gave my name and waited. I felt confident that I would pass as I had practiced many times. I got into my car and so did the instructor. Unfortunately, I did not pass, as I did not park well. I felt unaccomplished.
I have always wanted to get my driver's license. I personally think having a driver's license is so important. The reason why I think that is because the driver has a lot of freedoms, comes, but with freedom comes responsibilities. The other topic I will be covering is the cost is the cost of driving in general.
I received my driver’s license a few weeks before I turned twenty. By that time, almost everybody I knew already had their driver’s license; in fact, most of them have been driving for years. When I tell my friends that I actually just got my license, the express shock and wonder at why it took me me so long to get it. The reason that it took so long for me to get my license is that the thought of driving makes me nervous. The night after I passed my permit test, I was filled with worries; I thought about everything that could go wrong with driving a car. What if I got into an accident? What if I accidentally break driving laws and the police gives me a ticket? What if I hit a dog? All these questions pushed my anxiety to the highest level and gave me zero confidence even before I officially started learning how to drive. I immediately pitied the people who were tasked to teach me how to drive. Those people ended up being my mother and father.
The achievement of a driver’s license is a rite of passage for a large number of adolescents and young adults in the United States. Societally, the driver’s license is representative of a key to the outside world, and, in some ways, it is also thought of as being one of the first steps into adulthood. This perceived importance leads numerous fifteen and sixteen-year-olds to obtain their license as quickly as they possibly can which can be dangerous. According to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), drivers who are between sixteen to nineteen years old are at the greatest risk of being involved in a fatal crash, and sixteen and seventeen year olds also are at nearly twice the risk of eighteen and nineteen year olds. This has led some experts to call for a raise to the minimum driving age. While this is an understandable conclusion to come to, this is not necessarily the best course of action. There are other programs which can decrease the fatal crash rate, which can alleviate the crash concern. Otherwise, the ability to drive is, as stated above, an important step towards adulthood, and it provides maturity. Additionally, due to the lack of public transport or other safe ways to travel from place to place, the ability to drive provides younger Americans with mobility so that they can work, go to school, and also be with friends. For these reasons, the minimum driving age must stay at sixteen.
Driving is a big deal, a huge responsibility but also a huge reward. Even if you succeed on your drivers ed and get your

A tire lay torn on across the road, the smell of burning rubber and gasoline filling the air. A police car sits on the side of the road, the officer nearby shaking his head; there has been another crash with the casualties once again being two 16-year-olds.Many accidents occur from young and inexperienced drivers being on the road. 26 states have put systems in place to try and and stop these accidents, these systems are called graduated licenses. Graduated licenses vary in each state, but all GDLs have restrictions to them. Some people are for these GDLs, while others aren’t so sure they help at all.

Driving has been one of the most useful inventions that have been created since the 1930’s, but it hasn’t been until recently that it has become one of the most dangerous creations. We all are guilty of looking at our phone when we hear the buzz, or changing the song because it doesn’t meet your expectation. We are all lucky that when we cave into those negative behaviors that we are not the face on the news that was included in a five car pile-up on the freeway, but when we do see that on the new the most common thought is “That can’t happen to me”. Every teenager dreams about turning sixteen and earning their drivers permit. I received my permit on my sixteenth birthday and earned my license six months after. Due to my responsible behavior and driving habits, my parents trusted me with a car. A couple months before my seventeenth birthday, we picked out the perfect car for me. There was one major obstacle. It was a manual transmission. I wanted a stick shift because not everyone can drive it and it was different. Only having one year driving experience, I didn’t know how to drive a stick shift. Being sixteen and receiving my first car was a marvelous feeling, not knowing how to drive it was another. This left me motivated to learn how to drive it rapid but flawless.
If you had told me when I turned sixteen that I couldn’t get my license until I turned eighteen, I would have thrown a fit. Now that I am older, I realize that I had no business driving an automobile at 16 years old. I was the typical teenage driver. The cool one, who had the “Detroit
