Biblical Worldview Of Humanity

The topic of the image of God is one essential to every human being because it will shape the way in which each individual will look at his or her life. A part of every human’s life is his or her vocation, which will also be changed by the view he or she holds about the image of God. The image of God is the footprint that God left in humans and in no other being in His creation, and it must shape the way in which everyone will look at his or her job.

The word worldview means how an individual view the world around them. A worldview is a complete system of how we perceive the world and process it. According to Waddell (2014), “a worldview is a foundational set of assumptions to which one commits that serves as a framework for understanding and interpreting reality and deeply shapes one’s behavior.” The worldview of an individual is usually influenced by the person’s cultural background, life experiences, and upbringing. The Christian worldview is under the board umbrella of theism, which is “a worldview that entails belief in the existence of at least one personal and intelligent divine being” (Cosgrove, 2006). A person of a Christian worldview itself is someone who believes in the teaching of Jesus Christ and believes God created the world and everything in it. This paper would attempt to summarize and analyze the essential elements of the Christian worldview describing God, Humanity, Jesus, and Restoration. The writer will also reflect on his own worldview.

As we look back on history we can see that human beings have made great strides as well as suffered many setbacks in our development of fundamental doctrines and/or beliefs by which we live and view the world. These foundational beliefs have provided the framework for which all civilizations preserve, cooperate, and govern their way of life. Certainly throughout history, the spread of Christian theology and doctrine has been influential in establishing and developing a deeply rooted theistic and biblical worldview foundation; thus being the center of much debate. In light of the various views within Christian theology, we will focus specifically on doctrine that is foundational to the Christian

Everyone has a worldview, whether we know it or not. Worldview is the way a person makes sense of the world, life and reality. For example: I view the glass as half full, but you might view the glass as half empty. We both see the glass but we do not agree on how to view it. Our worldview is formed by our education, family beliefs, the culture we live in, and media we are exposed to. For many of us our surrounding culture influences our worldview and we have never had to think about why we believe what we believe and we wouldn’t be able to defend our beliefs to others.

The IMF oversees the exchange rate of currencies and encourages the free convertibility of any currency into another nation’s form of currency. A Biblical Worldview component should be added to the IMF for the purpose of instilling absolute truths to prevent cultural subjectivity and corruption. Having Biblical worldview added as a component provides an authority for absolute truth to be derived from. Absolute truth would be determined through the authority of God and His word. Having God as a standard for morality would help to prevent corruption arising from subjectivity determined by power-alliances and bribery.

When one looks at the world through a Biblical lens, they lay a foundation for becoming an agent of change, standing apart from society and pointing others towards Christ. A truly Biblical worldview is one which results in the believer honoring Christ and clearly set apart from the world. Every worldview has a set of underlying assumptions which influence how one sees the world, and a Biblical worldview is no different. What is different is that these assumptions can be tied back to Christ. This fundamental difference results in those who hold a Biblical worldview being truly separate from the secular world, pointing towards Christ as they live out a life aimed solely at glorifying Him. In Romans 1-8, Paul supplies Christians with a set of assumptions regarding the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and culture, creating the foundation of the transformative Biblical worldview. Each of these leads to modern implications which can be derived from scripture.

A worldview is the way a person views and interprets the world around them. Life experiences and spiritual influences play a part in forming one’s worldview. A person’s worldview helps them to determine beliefs on creation, humanity, morals and what happens after death. According to Waddell, (2014) “Worldviews are also like lenses found in eyeglasses that serve as the means through which a person sees the world.” (para. 43) In this paper, the main components of the Christian worldview will be discussed, to include God, humanity, Jesus, restoration and analysis of Christian Faith as well as a reflection of my own beliefs.

Everyone has a Worldview. “A collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or a group.” (1) Some have a Biblical Worldview. A Biblical Worldview is founded on the word of God. It is how a Christian views the world. Both belief systems are equally important to each individual, but there are differences in the way they view the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and culture.

How does being familiar with a biblical worldview help us understand the big picture of God’s design, and how can you apply that understanding to your calling?

The author also addresses four themes to help the reader gain an understanding of the Christian world view which include creation, fall, redemption and consummation. Creation addresses the understanding of who humans are and how it relates to the world that we live in. The fall deals rebellion against God in the garden. Redemption speaks about the forgiveness of our sins that came through the savior of Jesus Christ. Finally Consummation pulls all three previous topics together and is the start of the integration at its core.

As individuals on this earth, it is common to seek answers to questions which pertain to the origin of life. While some believe in a major scientific occurrence or some spiritual influence brought forth this world. Some may have no care in the matter, yet a large part of the world’s population has a belief based off the teachings and principles of Christianity. The purpose of this paper is to further explain the Christian worldview and many of its key factors such as God, Jesus Christ and the influence they have in the life of humanity.

Christians form a worldview from many places, including on the internet, in the workplace, at school, from family members and friends, “these worldviews find their way behind the church doors” mixed in with Christian thoughts, and sometimes thought of as Christian beliefs (Wilkens & Sanford, 2009, pp.18). God’s word should be the only answer to a Godly worldview. Paul’s letter to the Christians in Rome disclose to the world, his views of the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and culture.

Our worldview allows us to see into the world at such an angle that it coincides with our beliefs, therefore affecting how we think and live. Whether one falls under an atheistic, pantheistic, or theistic worldview, they are guided in their life choices depending on the beliefs of their worldview. Throughout this paper, I will summarize the elements of a Christian Worldview such as God, Humanity, Jesus, and Restoration; I will then analyze questions one might have about the Christian Worldview, and finally I will reflect on my worldview.
