In this paper I will be comparing the biblical worldview with a non-biblical worldview in regards to humanity. A biblical worldview foundation is Christ and not us perceiving the world. The biblical worldview is based in our beliefs and seeing the world through Christ’s eyes. I will explain different theories of humanity along with the biblical worldview of humanity. I will provide you with a Christian understanding of humanity but I will also show differences and similarities to other interpretations of humanity. The first alternative theory I want to speak about is the Animal Theory. The animal theory says that “the human primarily as a member of the animal kingdom and derived from some of its higher forms.” (Erickson, 2015) This view says that we have and will go through the same sort of processes as other animals. It mentions that there is only a one-degree difference between animals and us and we will have a similar end. We are not animals because the word of God says “Let Us make man in Our image, according to our likeness.” (Genesis 1:26, New American Standard Bible) If we look at this verse God mentions that we are made on His image. Many argue that the image of God doesn’t necessarily mean that we look like Him physically, but that we carry many of His qualities like having dominion over animals.
