My biggest pet peeve is when someone sneezes while I'm walking behind them and they do not cover their sneeze respectively. When someone sneezes and does not properly cover it up drives me insane! This is my biggest, because it is just utterly disrespectful and disgusting to let someone come so close to walking through a trail of mucus and germs. I feel that if a person sneezes and don’t cover it up you might as well sneeze directly into their face. Furthermore, it makes me feel that I should immediately be put into isolation and treated for a deadly disease. I think that it is very rude to sneeze while someone is walking behind you and it is not covered. It makes me feel like a walking germ similar to the globs of mucus that is show on the
My pet peeve is bad drivers: the people who drive with no care of anyone else on the road. There are many types of bad drivers, including slow drivers, fast drivers, and those who cannot follow simple traffic instructions. There are also drivers who cannot stay in their lanes or turn too tightly at a light, almost hitting others in the process. Another predicament that frustrates me is when people do not put on their blinker until the last second. On the way to school, there is a Starbucks attached to a bunch of buildings, but the turn to get into the parking lot is on a road that has a speed limit of fifty-five miles per hour. The people that decide to turn there though, never turn their blinkers on until a couple meters before the turn, or not at all.
One of the biggest pet peeves that I have at the moment is a liar. What is a liar? A liar, to me, is disloyal, dishonest, untrustworthy, and conniving. When I think about a liar certain types of people come to mind. These type of people include criminals, lawyers, and cheaters. A good percentage of criminals are known for lying when they get caught for their crimes. An example, of a scenario that I think of is when wrongdoers lie to the police about their true intentions on why they may have committed a crime. Being conniving causes them to become ruthless with their lies, and hypothetically could cause them to do or say whatever so they will not have to reap what they sow. Based on past experiences, people lie
It makes me glad to know that people enjoy the food they're eating. However, I would rather not hear them eat that food or see it. My most intense pet peeve is speaking or opening one's mouth while it is filled with food. From a young age, I've been taught that chewing food with a closed mouth is proper etiquette. Apparently, not all people were raised to mind their manners when they eat. Open-mouth chewing is a form of bad manners, annoys those nearby who are trying to eat in peace, and is simply repulsive.
The thing that annoys me the most are people that are hypocrites. A hypocrite is a person that dislikes something, but they do that thing anyway. For example if a person says something is annoying, like a song, they might tell someone that is playing that song to turn it off. What a normal person would do is not play that song because it’s annoying, but what a hypocrite would do is play that song that they thought was annoying whenever they want.
To be honest, I don’t know how I’ll be able to explain my pet peeve in five hundred words, but I’ll give it my best shot at it.
People all over the world have sounds that rarely occur that irritate them, like nails on a chalk board, a fork scraping a plate, or car alarms. But sometimes every day sounds that most people barely notice, other people really notice. Some major examples are sounds like chewing, nail tapping, swallowing, and the clicking of a keyboard. These individuals do not notice these sounds more because they want to; their mind automatically detects the sounds and continues to focus on them. These people usually become enraged by the sounds they hear because a switch inside their head has been flipped to activate a negative response. This oversensitivity to small sounds is a mental disorder called Misophonia. It is a
-I mean like, who whould even want bacteria from other people on you and your stuff? Bleh! It is quite nausiating even if you think about it... But I am a person who rarely complain about things-- have you ever seen me walking to a person who was eating a sandwich and loudly blurt out, "Hey, you are supposed to wrap your sandwich with this Napkin!" or walk up to a complete stranger and say, " Hey Dude! Your Shoelaces are Untied and You must Tie them!" Okay that might have been a little over-exaggerated but I hope you get my point. But however Sneezing and coughing without proper covering is a really peeving thing that is like a parasite trying to dig under my skin and burrow into the milk-white bone.
Americans on a daily basis are bombarded with broadcasts from newspapers, television, and special interest groups on the economic burdens created by illegal immigrants. Reports and statistics of growing state and local deficits; is it fact or fiction? In reality, undocumented Mexicans are necessary to the health of our economy. They provide a workforce in agriculture they keep the costs down; they contribute millions in taxes annually they help to stabilize the economy. Immigrants after all, are not just workers, but consumers and demand for products and services which in turn creates new jobs. In fact our economy needs illegal
One of my biggest pet peeves is hearing people smack gum with their mouths open. To keep myself from freaking out and hurting someone’s feelings, I have had to try to change my behavior. Instead of confronting someone about it, I remove myself from the situation.
I noticed a lot people that were coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing without covering their mouths or washing their hands, seemly to be the most popular in this surrounding. Many people didn’t say much to the perpetrator but from the looks, body language, and actions, I could tell people were disgusted by the lack of manners others had. On many occurrences, when someone coughs, sneezes or blows their nose, while others were eating or ordering their food, they would roll their eyes or look at the person in disgust. I even witnessed a couple get up and leave the mall in a rage because someone sneezed near them without covering their mouth. The incident I will never forget, was one lady advised a young man, who coughed without covering his mouth, that he should cover he should do so, which left me in shock. Of everyone that was in the food court, women were more so the ones who were offended by people coughing, sneezing or blowing their noses without covering their mouth or washing their hands. These types of careless acts puts others at risks of coming in contact with your germs possible causing people to get sick. These particular behaviors are in violation of the folkways, causing one to lack traditions, etiquette, and customs. In short, not using your manners, like covering your mouth or being courteous of others. According to (Adler 2012), violations of folkways norms do not generate serious outrage, but might cause people to think of the violator odd.
10 Things I Hate About You is arguably one of the most popular teen comedies of all time. Starring a talented set of actors, including Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the film succeeded both as a hilarious comedy and as a creative romance. One would never assume it was based on a work by Shakespeare, much less a work as sexist as The Taming of the Shrew is. The nature of Katherine and Petruchio’s relationship is based on Katherine’s submission, and can even be read as highly abusive. In a world where abusive relationships are a serious and prevalent issue, even among teenagers, carrying this out into the film would be quite polarizing. Not only would poking fun at the abuse push away a large part of the audience, but Katherine’s submission would cause her to be a very negative role model for young girls exposed to this film. 10 Things I Hate About You turns Shakespeare’s Katherine’s abuse and eventual submission to Petruchio into Kat’s willful decision to change from second wave feminism to third wave feminism. In doing this, the film modernizes the morally antiquated play for a modern audience, giving the audience an enjoyable movie and young girls a positive role model in Julia Stiles’ Kat Stratford.
A number of factors, including the following, may play a role in the reflexes originating from body movements; increase in body temperature, ventilatory response to temperature, epinephrine release, and impulses from the cerebral cortex. Sneezing and coughing are defending reflexes that briefly maintain respiratory activity and can expel
My scientific opinion is that sneezes can spread a lot of germs. A lot of diseases spread by germs.
The most annoying thing in the world is when my brother goes in front of me and walks as slow as possible. I do not understand why he does this, and why he feels that it is acceptable to walk in front at this pace.
A sneeze has the power to disrupt a moment with a simple, “Achoo!” and “Bless you!” It is the sound that turns heads and gives strangers an opportunity to interact with others. The attention that a sneeze receives, leaves all the poor coughs and hiccups alone in the corner, waiting for a blessing. Even with the parody version of “Bless You,” “Cough you,” sneezes continue to hog the stage.
