Technology has progressed so far within these last few decades. Before then, people ran much simpler lives, but now it is as if we cannot live 1 day without digital technology surrounding us wherever we may approach. From computers all the way to our handheld cellphones, the advancement of our society is easily discovered. Though, we may have amazing computers of today, these desktops come from a long history. One of the most successful businesses in the industry, Microsoft, was the absolute pinnacle behind the success of such advances today. Behind all of this as well was the philanthropist himself, Bill Gates. Bill Gates, one of the most successful and influencing men in all of human history, was a direct asset to the success of windows, and without him, the world we live could be much more different than it is now.
Ever since Bill Gates was a young child, he had always loved computers and the way they function. While enrolled in Seattle’s Lakeside School, his mother was fortunate enough to purchase a machine for the school. This machine was a teletype terminal and Bill Gates immediately took a distinctive romance to the way that computers functioned. While at this school, he met Paul Allen. Later towards the end of school for Bill Gates, he would go into business with Paul and would program together. They were so good at what they did, they netted over $20,000 in terms of profits. Soon after Bill Gates would continue to try and pursue a career and start his
Gates later went on co-found Microsoft and create lasting and groundbreaking computer software that continues to be valuable to society as technology has become common in day to day life. Undoubtedly, Gate’s intellect, passion, and creativity led him to create an extraordinary product and established him as a modern genius.
When people think of a hero they think of Superman, Batman, or Spiderman, but what they should think of are people that make difference. Bill Gates has made a huge difference in today’s world; he is an extremely successful entrepreneur, an active philanthropist, and a very motivated person in general. With this motivation he has and will accomplish anything he puts his mind to. He was CEO of Microsoft and became the richest man in the world. He also created one of the most credible and generous charitable organization in the world. As a positive influence on today’s world, Bill Gates has proven himself as person with his good work ethic, positive attitude, and great accomplishments.
In 1968, Computer Center Corporation (CCC) opened a business in Seattle that offered both, a computer and computing time at reasonable rates. However, their computers seemed to keep catching “bugs”. These bugs would ultimately slow down the computer’s speed and keep it from working properly. Lakeside and CCC reached a deal that would allow Lakeside’s students to use that computer time (Wallace, 1993, p.27). Gates and his friends did not take long to cause problems with this new computer. However, they caused the system to crash several times and destroyed the computer’s security system. The corporation then banned the students for several weeks. The CCC began to suffer financially in the late 1960’s, and the students (LPG) were then hired to find any bugs and expose any weaknesses in the system. The CCC went out of business in 1970. The LPG now had to find a way to get computer time (Wallace, 1993, p.30). In 1971, Gates and Allen decided to start a company called Traf-O-Data. They built a small computer that was used to measure traffic flow. This computer
Bill Gates is also a man who made a difference in the Twentieth Century, though his passion in the beginning of his career came strictly from knowledge and intelligence. Gates is described by Who’s Who in the Twentieth Century as a “US businessman who co-founded Microsoft Corporation, which in the 1980s became the leading computer software producer.” In 2008, Microsoft was, according to this same source, accused of illegal activities, which led to Gates departure at Microsoft (Phillips, 2008).
Having an imagination is a virtue. Imagining an entirely new way to communicate and interact with others through a machine is amazing in itself. Bill Gates is not only the richest man in the world, but some consider him as the most ingenious too. Others see him as a monopolizing, money hungry nerd.
Guided by a belief that the computer would be a valuable tool on every office desktop and in every home, they began developing software for personal computers. Gates' foresight and his vision for personal computing have been central to the success of Microsoft and the software industry. Under Gates' leadership, Microsoft's mission has been to continually advance and improve software technology, and to make it easier, more cost-effective and more enjoyable for people to use computers. The company is committed to a long-term view, reflected in its industry-leading investment in research and development each year (Microsoft, 2011).
Bill Gates has been known to be one of the greatest men alive today. Helping
Paul Allen was a big part of creating one of the most used Microsoft products, The Microsoft operating system. Paul and Bill created the Microsoft operating system which is what most other computer companies use to run their computers. Bill made a two-man operation into a multimillion-dollar company, using the free enterprise system. He made his business into a monopoly which enraged other companies but made the competition that came with the free enterprise system easy to beat. Bill Gates turned the PC into a world-wide device.
Bill Gates was co-founder of Microsoft and spend a lot of worthy time creating a computer empire (Microsoft) in his own eyes. Gates changed the computer technology usage in our society. Computers became a lot cheaper and usable for regular people. He succeeded not only in business, but also in donations. Gates and his wife created a foundation that donates money to help our society. He left Microsoft to spend more time on his foundation. Gates family has done a lot of good things for humanity and always will be remembered. Bill Gates improved the computer technology of the 20 and 21st centuries.
Many if not most professionals have current or historical figures, universally accepted as models in their field, from whose example they may glean insight and draw inspiration. For a few examples, Statesmen have George Washington or Lincoln; Scientists may look to Louis Pasteur or Marie Curie; Tech Entrepreneurs may look to Steve Jobs or Bill Gates; and the list goes on and on. One might say that the sales profession is a curious exception to the rule. Certainly, there are many speakers, authors and leaders in the sales profession who have taught and motivated multiple generations in the field – to name a few, Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, and Jeffrey Gitomer. Taking nothing
Bill Gates is not only a genius, but also an innovator in education, technology, and philanthropy. A prodigy, Bill Gates shares an education fact with Abraham Lincoln, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and even his competitor Steve Jobs: no college degree. Instead, he devoted his time to his passion for technology, going on to create the most profitable technology company in the world. For much of the past decade, Gates allocated both his profit and attention to philanthropy. Evidence of his innovation, industry and curiosity can be seen at an early age.
As the the inventor of the first computer, William H. Gates Jr. or his nickname, Bill Gates has impacted the world so greatly that his invention will affect the world for the rest of eternity. Imagine what life would be like without the computer. People at home would have to write documents by hand instead typing their documents on google docs. Kids would have to play outside everyday, without TV or video games. Also, social media wouldn’t be available, so people can’t text or facetime each other, but can only call on a old fashioned phone. Last, without computers, technological advancement wouldn’t be possible because most robots need a computer in their brain. As you can see, without Bill Gates, life would be so boring and complex.
If you knew Bill Gates well, you would know that he’s full of desire. All the software ever written in the world is never sufficient for Mr. Gates. He always desires something noble. He believes something good is not for just a few people. But it’s for all. This is should not be in the negative light because that’s what actually gave birth to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Mr. and Mrs. Gates wanted you to desire something good and work toward it. So they delved into charitable giving and are recording great successes worldwide. Bill’s desire was that there should be something different from the gigantic machines called the computer in those days. He desired something that everyone could use with ease. And he introduced it to the world.
When William Henry Gates came into the world in the year 1955, the fledgling computer industry was still trying to spread its wings and fly. AOn the day he was born in 1955, fewer then 500 electronic computers had existed in the entire world, their total retail value amounted to less then $200 million, and the term Asoftware@ had not yet been coined.@(Manes, 2) Bill first laid a hand on a computer in 1968 while in junior high school. The computer business was rapidly transforming at this time, and so was Bill Gates. He saw the real profitable side of computers was not their hardware. Rather it was the software end of the business. Good software is what makes a computer exciting and easy to use. Bill Gates grabbed this concept and ran with it. The result: As of 1993 AGates was personally worth more than $2 billion@, and his company, Microsoft, was Avalued at more than $7 billion.@(Manes, 2)
One of the achievements Gates was when, in 1987, he unveiled the Windows software, which newer version of Windows are used in computers today ("Bill Gates." Business Leader Profiles for Students).Another achievement of Gates was in 1995, when Gates unveiled the iconic Windows 95 update. In 1999, Gates became the world’s wealthiest self-made man when his net worth was estimated at around $90 Billion. In 2000, Gates stepped down as Microsoft CEO. Also in 2000, Gates, along with his wife Melinda, founded the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). In 2006, Gates reduced his role at Microsoft in order to devote his time to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ("Bill Gates." Business Leader Profiles for Students). He was also named Time’s Person of the Year, in 2006. In 2008, Gates stepped down as full-time employee of Microsoft in order to work full-time for the Bill and Melinda Gates
